Addiction's Wasteland Part Two plunges deeper into the chaotic lives of Love and Kevlar as they struggle against old demons and new betrayals. With dangerous secrets threatening to unravel their hard-won peace, the past is back with a vengeance, testing the limits of loyalty, love, and redemption. In a world where every choice carries a price, Love and Kevlar must navigate the fine line between salvation and self-destruction. Gritty, raw, and fiercely emotional, this installment proves that not all battles are meant to be won.
It’s clear I’m a glutton for punishment because Shantel said stop at book one if I wanted my fluffy foo foo ending but I don’t listen and I never will. 😈 and with a hard head, a soft behind will definitely follow 😂😂
Baby the 1 2 combo book two gave me was Mayweather level. Love and Kevlar are reunited in an unexpected way and even though years have passed between the two books, my man is still just as obsessed if not more about Love. But he was quickly introduced to a NEW Love that was not with the sh*ts. My good sis said fool me 10 times you won’t get an 11th 😂😂😂 sorry Love but you know how you were 😏 She also should’ve known that Kevlar plays chess not checkers. He was a step ahead of everyone… well almost everyone 😵💫
Anywho I was not prepared for the plot twists in this book!! Halloween came early because there were a few clowns and jackasses running loose 🥴
This series was an unexpected blessing to my TBR. If you’re looking for something to get you out of a potential slump and aren’t easily triggered then I have no doubt you’ll enjoy this series!
You did warn us. You said that we should read part two at our own risk. But sis who knew that it could be more toxic, and messier than part one?
I wanted to hate Kevlar, but I couldn't. All he wanted was the freedom to live his life and be happy. However, duty and family would not allow it, making him angry, destructive, reckless, and sometimes violent. Love was the only thing in the world he wanted, and he couldn't have her. Or can he?
Love finally found some semblance of normal in her life, then here comes the ish. I knew Kevlar was capable of a lot of things, but damn you would do THAT to sway things in your favor? 😤 Love was just incapable of staying out of Kevlar's crosshairs. She just learned to accept his crazy and manipulative ways, as her love for him was too powerful to ignore or walk away from. 🤦🏾♀️ Although she stayed, she was much stronger now, and did not allow him to get over on her as he had in the past.
Now when those secrets were exposed, I just about lost my edges, cause what?????? 👀🤯 These families are evil, and devious to put that man through all that for their own selfish gains!! 🤬 An angry Kevlar is not what anyone wants, when he is on a mission. Believe it or not, this chaos brings Love and Kevlar closer together as they mend their fractured relationship and fall deeper into toxic love. 😂 I enjoyed seeing this different side of Kevlar, as he tried to be the best person for Love after he caused her so much pain. This was toxic love at its finest but loved every minute of it. 👍🏾👍🏾
Wow this was a story full of lies and manipulation and I wasn't sure who I was rooting for.
In the first story Love had given up on the struggle love with Kevlar and married Lyfe. They had been together for 7 years and had the sweetest love. He helped her become whole again and loved her son like his own. I think he truly underestimated the connection Love had with Kevlar because he is the one that put them back in the same orbit. Kevlar was the most selfish toxic man and the behind the scenes steps he took to get back with Love were just unbelievable. However, I love how he didn't interfere when it came to Lyfe and Masir. Lyfe made peace with the situation and was a better man than Kevlar clearly and they were able to have a blended family that kept the children at the forefront. Lyfe truly loved Masir as his own for his whole life.
It feels like Kevlar was doomed from the start. Even though he couldn't stand his father, he was so much like him carefully manipulating situations to benefit himself. Despite all of that Kevlar and Love were finally able to live hea after almost 2 decades of floundering they found their footing and grew old together.
There were a lot of bonkers manipulations from the MMC, it was very much like a soap opera. At some point the excessive revelations took a bit away from the story. But everything was tied up and resolved.
It was entertaining but the overwhelming feeling I got after reading part 2 was sadness that the FMC had to wait SO MANY YEARS for her happy ending. 😳
I really liked the son Ali's chapter and how his relationship with the FMC developed.
What a phenomenal conclusion to this series! Every question and concern I had was expertly addressed, and let me tell you, I promised myself I’d savor this book—but who was I kidding? I devoured it in less than 24 hours! Now I’m left with the bittersweet dilemma of not being able to beg for a part three because this author truly wrapped it all up beautifully, giving us both a five-year and a ten-year update. As I reached that final page, I kept scrolling like I was about to find some hidden treasure. You know how Shantel so she will hit you with that sneak ending. Love has truly cemented herself as one of my all-time favorite female leads! And Kevlar? He’s still on my “not-so-favorite” list, but I have to admit, he’s done some serious growing for the sake of love—and his kids! Lyfe, on the other hand? Absolute perfection. He embodies everything a man should be! And can we talk about those kids? They’re a mess but still amazing! I wouldn’t mind a fun little novella for each of them—imagine the chaos and drama! This book was hands down a 5 star. Do I still want to lay hands on Kevlar? without a doubt I want to Lyfe 2.0 him lol
Love and Kelver are designed, destined, to be that couple. There love is gritty and raw, but also passionate and soft like a calming sea. Kelver wanted Love to be his forevermore. They has a son together. I loved the ending. This book show how love mixed with human emotions make love dangerous, possessive, do -not -want -to -let -go, of a person can be murderous. Really a great story. 1st book Addictions Wasteland -THE SAGA by Author Shantel Davis, 2nd Addictions Wasteland: Part Two by Author Shantel Davis
3.5 Definitely saw growth in Love. I wanted her with Lyfe. He was better for her. Kevlar was cookoo for coco puffs. Ali poor kid. Would love to read about him.
It was his growth for me. It took a long time but it happened. I honestly never thought it would. I loved Love & Ali relationship. I would love a kids spin-off
Both books were different from what I'm used to, but also so much better than I anticipated. I read the reviews and thought why not. Why not try this on and see how you like it? I had not been prepared for the read. It was fiction and life wrapped up together. It was coming to terms and learning how to heal, forgive (self and others), accepting those you love and yourself as y'all are. Making mistakes and more mistakes and accepting yourself and your crazy as you are as you deal with what life is and how your actions have consequences. And accepting the crazy of those you love. This book was learning to love unconventionally and unconditionally. It was learning to be content and learning how to forgive some, not bc of them but for yourself. It was not a HEA in a neat little box but it was an HEA. I recommend these books. Some won't like them and others will love them. If the conventional is what you want. Then stop here and find another read. However, if coloring outside of the lines is you, then happy reading.
To find out Kevlar's sacrifice was for nothing had my mouth hitting the floor! This man spent years with a wife he didn't want, only to find out that the kids weren't really his. Well, 2 of them weren't. And the way he found out was crazy. After reading this book, I'm happy with both endings. Kevlar slowly but surely changed. How he got back with Love wasn't surprising. I knew he set the whole thing up with Lyfe's ex popping back up. I'm happy Love's character remain the same in this book. She didn't readily take Kevlar back. He had to work for it. I liked the character growth for Kevlar. Shantel did her thing with this duet. I highly recommend reading it.

Throughout the chaos that is “Love” and Kevlar I have managed to read book one and immediately wanted to find book 2, and I’m so happy I did because the happy ending was a worth it. This story mimics real life to the extent where I feel emotionally connected to this book. This author has always been one of my favorites and she will continue to be my favorite. I absolutely love the story and would recommend it to anyone interested in reading a story that mimics real life.
This book and the one before it was oh so good. I don’t even know where to start. Kevlar and Love were truly meant to be. The ups and downs and deception they endured was crazy. The author did an amazing job depicting their growth throughout the book. I literally finished both books w/in a day and half, I just couldn’t put it down. Shantel Davis really did her thing. Loved this series!
When an author can pull you in and don't let you go I have to give them their flowers. I'll say this I don't know whose side I was on at any given time but they each touched a part of me. Shantels writing is really beautiful and real. It's something that I can see and envision and I will definitely read more by this author.
At first I wasnt going to read part 2 but I just couldnt help myself!! When I say I could not put this down!! Kevlar, Love, Lyfe even Amira, all went through something tragic and yes Kevlar couldnt get right but one thing and that was that he never stopped loving Love!!
Kevlar is insane! Let me tell you that!! This idea of lingering love doesn’t sit right with me. It’s just Love’s inability to made good decisions and always needing an escape plan. She pushed Lyfe because she new she had Kevlar around, then when life gets too real she pushes Kevlar because Lyfe would be there pining for her
2.5 ⭐️. There were a few mistakes in the 1st book that could be overlooked, but in this book the editing and grammatical mistakes were unmistakable. It felt as if no one took the time to even reread the story after it was typed, that’s how bad it was. I forced myself to finish this because I had to, but I probably should have skipped this read.
what stays with me in this book is "My last thought, right after his Timberland connected with my ribs, just before I passed out, was that Love had saved me. That was proof that she still loved me. And that was all I needed. As I slipped into unconsciousness, despite the pain and the humiliation, a twisted sense of satisfaction settled over me."
I love this author. I’m glad I took the time out to read part 2 I wasn’t disappointed. I’m glad I couldn’t predict what would happen next. This just made the story even more exciting. I can’t wait to read more books from Shantel.
Kevlar and Love got their happy ending!! What a plot twist and the surprises. I couldn't put this book down for a second it was so damn good! I am glad that I read part 2 after I was very upset with Kevlar in part 1.
Love and Kevlar went through it to get happiness. While I enjoyed Kevlar's unhinged behind, I felt Lyfe was Love's person. However, it was oddly satisfying to see them grow old together.
Well these characters really brought out each other problems..book was fierce, dark and sad but overall book 1 and 2 were excellent thank you for a great novel...😍😍😍
This books was everything and book 1 as well…the realness to both Love and Kevlar was so refreshing. They both work through so much and was finally able to have an HEA… Ali need his own story I feel he’s gonna need a force to reckon with like is dad.
I knew 8 wouldn't like it. Just had to put them back together. And he still was manipulating that . She was happy kevlar will always be the wrong man. Who cares Amira lied. That what he gets for not being a man. Did like but oh well.
I was wishing I stopped at book 1 however I did enjoy the growth of the characters. This book shows you cant help who you love cause we all know who she shouldve stayed with and faught for buttttt the heart wants what it want.
I have absolutely fallen in love with these characters. What is most impressive is the authenticity and realness of the storyline. Everything is true to life, messy and complicated. This series is a must read.
Kevlar although I can sympathize with his trauma, he didn’t deserve to get what he wanted. This series was trying my patience. On to the next episode in Ms. Davis catalog
I needed that part two I really did. My only concern is I wanted it to be longer. I want to know all the kids full lives but it was wrapped up beautifully.
