Rate this book
The distant future. Lydia, a pastry chef working on an elite space station, is looking forward to a scorching sexual encounter with Ricardo, the hot shuttle pilot she'd been lusting after for months. But the appearance of a mysterious asteroid changes everything.

When the research group sent to study it loses contact with the station, Ricardo flies a rescue team to the asteroid. Hours later, he returns--as the lone survivor.

With the tragedy seemingly behind them, Lydia and Ricardo meet for a date despite regulations forbidding all contact. In a dark room, she discovers Ricardo is more than the man he used to be. Dare she surrender to his raw, otherworldly passion?

Heather Massey (she/her) is a geek mom who's the proud parent of a terrific daughter and married to the love of her life. Heather is best known for her sci-fi romance blog, The Galaxy Express.

Though she’s neither an award-winning nor bestselling author (thank you for not judging!), her stories provide quality entertainment by way of fantastical worlds, action-adventure, and larger-than-life characters who fall in love while battling evils such as classist jerks, corporate greed, the patriarchy, and corrupt politicians.

Lydia and Ricardo have flirted for months and are finally on their first real date only to be interrupted by the call of duty. But it's not just any old job that interrupts them. Ricardo pilots a shuttle to a newly arrived alien asteroid. When he returns and wants to resume their date, things have changed.

This very well-written short story caught me from the first sentence. Loved the characters, the setting, the situation. And I have to say this hot story has one of the most unique and vivid sex scenes I think I've ever read. The ending surprised me.

The bad? Hmm. No bad. The sex scene was a bit too strong for me but that's just me. I'm sure it's fine for a lot of people.

I recommend this to anyone wanting a really hot SFR with aliens.
