This book would be useful to junior high students looking for a brief overview of the debate, more focused on the cultural history than on the science. It's a reasonable take and well balanced, but it's lack of argument and its reliance on limited sources (usually one or two main sources per chapter) makes it feel like a report (which it more or less is).
While I felt at times that this book favored the evolution viewpoint, and at times seemed to be subtilely poking fun, or mocking, the creation viewpoint, I thought the the background information was a good introduction to the history of the conflict.
This is a great little book. Perfect for young adults/kids in their early teens. Lays out the theory of evolution and the creationist fight to keep it from being taught.
