This was a fun and quite unique middle grade horror novel! It read very similar to a goosebumps book having a silly sense of humor and spooky vibe. I enjoyed the science sprinkled throughout the book as well, this was a great touch and really gave one of our main characters the nerdy personality he accustomed. Only reason for 4 stars is a bit of a slow start. Other than that, I’d definitely recommend this Australian middle grade horror novel!

What a fun little book! Read this together with my nine-year-old son and he loved it. We even learned some Australian slang, as we had no idea what an "esky" was, but that is part of the joy of reading: learning!
In "Sadie and the Secret of the Swamp", Fiona has crafted a tale with gooey, muddy mystery to draw readers in and sprinkled in a dash of scares without venturing too far into the swamp. The tone and presentation is perfectly inline with Goosebumps and is sure to delight any young readers with a penchant for silly scares and unraveling mysteries.
What exactly is Professor Devolfe hiding in the swamp? Find out for yourself!

So well-paced with amusing sibling banter, this was a fun and spooky read. The author has a great way of balancing comedy with tension and I absolutely love her unique and random similes!
