When he is 22, he decides to head off to the marines to create some distance, but he can only think of returning to her. When he returns, will he finally tell her how he feels? I just wanted to slap these two silly at times, but I am so glad they finally found their way to each other. The chemistry was hot 🔥 hot 🔥 hot 🔥 and the ending was so happy. I'm a sucker for a good friends-to-lovers romance, and this did not disappoint. I loved it!.

Honestly, that’s a level of patience I don’t possess! Jake is the epitome of the "nice guy," always there, always supportive, silently suffering while playing the role of her emotional rock. But after years of quietly pining, he reaches his breaking point and—get this—joins the Marines to escape his unrequited love. The Marines! Talk about extreme measures. Yet, it seems his time in the military gives him the push he needs to finally confess his feelings. Or so you think. Because just when it seems like Jake’s ready to bare his soul, he keeps backing out! It’s maddening! The tipping point comes when he sees one of Lily’s dates crossing a line, and you’re like, finally! But then Lily pulls the classic rom-com move and bolts before things can get real. I came across this book on the pre-release section and based on the blurb, it sounded like a short story I would enjoy.
I started this one evening and I finished it within half an hour so it's easy to complete in one sitting as it must be less than 60 pages long.
For me, I love a little bit of back story and a little more context to the main characters as it helps me to connect with them and whilst I do appreciate it is meant to be a shorter read, I do feel like you can accomplish this if you make the book a tiny bit longer (up to 300 pages).
When I was reading it all I was getting was a overly obsessive male lead, Jake, who was absolutely besotted with his perfect best friend who had no idea - it got to a point where I thought to myself it was red flag central - add that on top of the steamy, spicy scenes and yeah, it felt like I was reading a novel based around obsession and sex.
With that being said, I could appreciate the way in which the author wrote the story and the restrictions she had where it was maybe around 60 pages, whilst there were times where I felt she was looking for other descriptive words for the same thing and it didn't flown as well as it could've done, the basic bones were there.
I feel like 3* is appropriate as whilst it was OK and a quick read, it just wasn't for me.

I enjoyed the buildup of this story, and the bedroom scenes are spicy and hot. It's a short novella that can be read in one sitting if desired, and I certainly felt warm fuzzies here and there. I'm more of a plot-based reader, and I thought there would be a little more meat to the story when I picked up this ARC. However, given it's a spicy, short ride, I do recommend this to those who enjoy those types of stories.
My reason for 3 stars (**Spoilers**) is that I just couldn't get into the jealous caveman behavior where Jake kisses Lily without asking her first. Then, suddenly, Jake carries her across a parking lot somehow, and he carries her right into his apartment for sex immediately. She does give verbal consent for the sex, so that part was all good, but I just would've respected Jake more if he'd told Lily in words how he felt and confirmed her feelings first before he slammed his mouth onto hers, given how much he respected her. I get that the idea of that can be hot and that she could've slapped him sideways if she didn't like it since he cared about her so much, so maybe I'm overthinking it. It's worth a read to decide for yourself.

Part of the Curvy Girl Romance Shorts series each can be read as a standalone which can be read in under an hour or less don’t start if you do not plan on finishing in one setting. Jake and Lily have been best friends since they were kids and as they got older, they grew closer, both too afraid of losing their friendship to even consider what they feel for one another deep down inside. Jake sexy as get decided to contain his love to join the military thinking if he was far away, he would forget or better able to deal with his love for her, but it only worsens and when he was released, she was the first one at the airport wrapping her arms around him driving him crazy. Lily is sweet she is always loved her best friend but their friendship was more important so she forced herself to date others but none of them measured up to Jake and when he came home it took everything in her to stay away from him until the dam broke on one date where her date put his hands one her and her best friend put a stop to it but will he be brave enough to tell her the truth, will she be brave enough to tell him how she really feels, can there be more to their friendship, and will it lead to their happiness?

I wasn’t “wowed” by this book. I thought the guy, even when he became a Marine, was a chicken, too afraid to tell his best friend he loved her.
The storyline seemed a bit “off” in my opinion. I don’t want to give details because I don’t want to give any of the details away. I just thought the girl had a prolonged odd reaction after they finally got together. The guy followed the girls wishes, until he didn’t, which was strange to me.
The oddest thing was the guy being back in the Marines, with no explanation of why he was back, especially since he had made it clear earlier he didn’t really like the Marines.
The characters weren’t particularly likeable or memorable, and I finished the book with a letdown, not the usual excitement I feel. But, this is just MY opinion.
This book is a standalone with no cliffhanger.

This is my favorite book by this author in a while. There wasn’t anything wrong with the A-Z books, they were just kind of hit or miss for me, this one though…she hit it right out of the park.
I LOVED the glimpses we got of Lily and Jake as children, showing them through the years as best friends, then how Jake’s feelings grew and how he battled jealousy whenever Lily talked about other guys. He, of course, was my favorite, there’s just no way Lily didn’t understand how much he loved her—I’m sorry but, men just aren’t that complicated—there’s no way he kept feelings that strong hidden, especially for years.
This was a best friends to lovers romance with lots of pining and a super steamy start to their intimate relationship. And that epilogue, “chef’s kiss!” For a deliciously sexy romance, trust me, you won’t find anything any better! 5 STARS!!!.

Curvy Girl for the Best Friend follows the journey of Jake and Lily whom I fell in love with right from the beginning of the book. Even though Curvy Girl for the Best Friend is a short story, it packed a full punch of a full novel. I enjoyed seeing Jake and Lily's story unfold before my very eyes. Curvy Girl for the Best Friend is both suspenseful and a page-turner of a romance story. Curvy Girl for the Best Friend is an ease to read, has fascinating characters, romantic/steamy, entertaining/enjoyable, and there's a happily ever after for the main characters. Curvy Girl for the Best Friend is certainly a book that I would encourage other readers to checkout this book and give it a read. I'm looking forward to reading more books written by this amazing author.

Amazing. Jake has been in love with Lily since they were children playing on the monkey bars promising to be best friends forever. They shared everything except the one thing he really wanted. To try and get over her he joined the Marines but, even 4 years away from Lily didn’t help. He’s determined to tell her how he feels but, he keeps chickening out at the thought of losing her completely. That is until he sees her date grab her angrily and all bets are off. Jake steps in, threatens the guy and tells Lily how much he loves her. They spend an incredible night together but, in the morning she’s gone. When he texts her Lily says she needs time and space to think. Jake is worried that he came on way to strong and has lost her forever.

Well can I say about this book . Emma Bray has this trope off pat. Jake has live his curvy best friend Lily for an age. But he was fearful and a little tearful at the thought of rejection so stayed silent and voiced no objection to suitors that came and went. So rather than seeing her with another gent , he goes to sea to avoid this misery and joins the Marines. Now he’s back and Lily is still all that gorgeous and he’s determined he’s making her his . He’s claiming her mind soul and body. Friends since they eight he is not gonna wait . No more mr nice guy . He is taking what’s his. His curvy girl…this was one delicious story . Frustration mounted beyond belief but soon he managed to get his relief. Heavenly storytelling , well written too.

This book is so emotional, I mean we have ‘The Nice Guy’ who has been by her side through every event in her life. And the girl that just expects him to always be there taking advantage of his presence. Best friend since child hood, obsessed with her, v-card, military, he has loved her forever she is oblivious. Good story to add to this series, even if I wanted to smack her up side her head. Each one of these books are a quick read, curvy woman and the men a obsessed with the curves.

Firstly I need to say I don’t really like short stories because there aren’t enough pages for the story. I’m always feeling like there is something missing. But that is just my personal preference. All in all the story was good. I liked the little suspension that you only really knew how Jake felt about Lilly so it wasn’t that obvious what she was feeling. I didn’t quite understand why she was ignoring him for days but I guess that was just the plot. Like I said for me personally the story was too short and you could have made more of it but the idea and the story itself was good.

I absolutely love this story. Friends to lovers. He's been in love with her since then. Over the years, it's been hard for him when she'd want to talk with him over her latest crush. He feels Lily will never see him more than just friends. Jake enlisted to the Marines and left. She was crushed and after 4 years she finally sees him. Feelings has changed with her, and she wants him. One day it finally happens, and they both finally let the truth be revealed. It was a great story and loved these two characters.

I loved Curvy Girl for the Best Friend: Curvy Girl Romance Shorts. Lily and Jake have been best friends since childhood and he’s loved her that long. He leaves town because he can’t watch her with other people instead of telling her how he feels. When he comes home he swears he’s going to make her his but he still can’t do it. When he sees her date grab her then all bets are off. The overprotective friend loses it. He will finally take what is his. Hopefully she’s ready to be his. I loved the story and the characters. I would def recommend this book.

This book is a part of the Curvy Girl Romance Shorts series and focuses on Jake and Lily. Jake has been in love with his best friend Lily since they were kids. He never told her how he felt about her out of fear of losing their friendship. He was tired of watching her date other guys and never being the one she wanted so he joined the military to get away from seeing that on a regular basis. When he came back from the military, Jake finally decided to go after the girl and make her his once and for all. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

Jake and Lily have been best friends since they were children, at the age of 18 Jake’s feelings for her began to change , never brave enough to admit his feelings for fear of losing her, he’s watched her go out with other men but when that becomes too much he leaves. Once home again he watches her on yet another date until he can’t take it anymore. This friends to lovers read was steamy, sweet and frustrating at times, I just wanted Jake to admit his feelings and for Lily to wake up. Short but enjoyable.

Without giving away the story or any spoilers, this story is short, fast paced, has a wonderful MMC and FMC and tons of steamy scenes. The ending is beautiful and has a HEA.
