Love Never Dies

Rate this book
"Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality." - Emily DickinsonThis is a book about the indestructibility of love. Journalist and author Karina Machado spoke to over 60 Australians who revealed their stories of sensing the spirit of a late loved one. She shares their life-shattering experience of loss, and shows how their spiritual contact with a deceased lover, friend or family member brought healing, hope and the solace of knowing that their connection lives on.There is the story of a teenage boy who appears in bodily form on the eve of his funeral to bring comfort to his sister. A young husband returns to his widow in time to prevent another tragedy. A grandmother arrives to lovingly care for her daughter's babies. A man soothes his grief-stricken brother with an otherworldly embrace...Written with grace and compassion, Love Never Dies is as much about the power of loving relationships as it is the phenomenon of the survival of consciousness beyond death.

Prosaic literature that will bring relief to those suffering the loss of loved ones. Karina interviews people who have lost loved ones about their connections with those who have passed over. I read this with tears running down my face. What I love about Machado's writing is the depth of the imagery and emotion she so effortlessly conjures with her fluid writing style.
Macado builds a world where life is a continuum and those who have passed on do not wish us to suffer.
A deep, powerful and passionate work.

This book is a collection of narratives from people who've experienced loved ones after death. At first I was concerned it would be a series of hokey ghost stories of questionable origin, but the author is an educated lady who takes quite an in depth look at the grieving process. Maybe these people did experience thin places between this world and the next (I know I have) or maybe the extremity of their grief produced unusual phenomena. I have an open mind on the subject. Either way, I found it comforting to know that others have had similar experiences to mine. Generally well-written, but I subtracted a star because of the author's occasional flights of purple prose.

This book changed my life. After my father passed away, I needed to find something to comfort me in my grief. This book did just that and more. Beautifully written accounts of people's after-death contact with loved ones has opened my eyes to a spiritual world where the people we love and have left us, never really leave us at all. I laughed and cried my way through this book. It was exactly what I needed!

A nice collection of stories. Very flowery language. Fans of the romance genre of books may particularly enjoy it.
