Fantasies, Inc. #1

Private Desires

Rate this book
She arranges fantasy fulfillment for a living. Now it’s her turn.

Victoria has built a world-renowned business at Fantasy Mountain, the resort where no want is too wacky, no urge too unusual, no passion too peculiar. Her ability to create any sexual scenario has granted her everything she could want: power, money, independence. The one thing that remains out of her reach is the man she knows she’ll never have...and he happens to work just down the hall from her.

Brett has all but given up hope of breaching the wall around Victoria’s heart. In fact, he’s engaged to be married back in London in only two months. But he knows Victoria has desires; he’s seen them firsthand.

When a night of passion rekindles old feelings, can he finally fulfill the ultimate fantasy of the woman who’s made it her mission to satisfy everyone’s desires but her own? After all, whatever the erotic dream, it can come true at Fantasy Mountain.

Content Warning: Wild romps, no-holds-barred lust, and deep, meaningful lovemaking. A love story first, sparing no steamy details. Contains glimpses into very kinky fantasies.

Romance is sexy. And often funny, and sometimes tangled up with suspense. Let’s face it: all sorts of things get mixed up with romance in real life.
Piper Denna’s stories are not cut-and-dried romance. Her characters deal with issues female readers can relate to: independence and trust, empowerment, inhibition, an unfaithful partner, motherhood. Sometimes her characters make mistakes, and often her “bad guys” are not 100% bad. She hopes to take the reader on an emotional journey to a happy ending…with enviable sexual encounters along the way.
When she’s not writing, she edits, talks about life daily with her two twenty-something kids along with her husband, and collects scrapbooking material.
She enjoys books—or movies—with a comedic twist and hopefully a love story with lots of tension, too.
Sexiest parts of a man in Piper’s opinion? The hands and eyes. Shoulders are nice too, and of course, great pecs are never amiss…

I instantly liked this book for the fact that the main character, Victoria, seemed so real. She seemed like a lot of women out there who have lost a husband or even just been hurt by a previous relationship. Her emotions were bottled up inside of her but the reader got to see the glimpses of her soul whenever her past memories were shown. I felt so bad for her, a woman who had found a great man, only to lose him due to things outside of her control. I also loved that she stepped it up though in life and used the money from her husband’s death in order to open her own business and make a name for herself. Sure she might have been lost and upset when her husband died but in a way she kept going and started something that was basically all her own…except for Britt.

Britt was a character that I really liked right off the bat as well. He is smart, has a great personality, a really cool accent (yes I’m aware those don’t really come across in books), and he loved one woman for so long he just didn’t know what to do with himself. It was clear from the start that he had been a close friend and maybe a little more to Victoria for their entire business relationship. I knew this man needed more, he wanted one sexy woman who had closed herself off to the world and he would do anything to get her.

I really enjoyed watching their friendship turn into more as the chapters went on. I loved that Victoria tried to tell herself that she couldn’t fall for another man just because she lost her husband. I enjoyed all of the emotional struggles that these two went through just to reach out to each other. However, I guess I wanted Britt to work a little harder to get Victoria. It seemed several times his way of winning her over was just to basically stand in front of her and then grab her for a kiss. Now I understand sometimes there is no room for words, especially since Victoria is a smart woman and can talk her way out of anything, but I wanted to see him try a little more. I guess the book just felt confined to the Mountain and I would have enjoyed seeing some other locations for their love to grow in.

Overall, this is a good romance that I feel still has some places left to go. So I guess it is a good thing that the second book just released and that I can see how Victoria and Britt take their relationship to the next steamy level.

I expected a light-hearted romantic romp, but Fantasy Mountain provided so much more. Piper Denna manages to tell a story that is not only romantic and sexy, but also funny, heart-warming and oh-so-real.

Where to start in describing the resort itself? It almost sounds magical, which is the sort of vibe Victoria was going for. Clients are encouraged to feel like they’re stepping not only into another world, but directly into their fantasies. The resort will stop at virtually nothing to achieve that for clients – from providing participants to setting the scene, every little detail is covered!

I sometimes feel male characters are more fleshed-out in romance, with the main character viewed as sort of secondary. Not so in Fantasy Mountain, which is filled with three-dimensional, well-developed characters. I loved Victoria, and I feel she is one of the best characters I’ve seen in any romance novel. Devastated by the loss of her partner, Victoria decides to step up and do something she’s always wanted to do. From that determination Fantasy Mountain is born.

Brett was also a great character, though I felt sometimes he wasn’t as clear as he could have been about his feelings – typical man trait there though I suppose! With his accent, his good looks, and their unfailing chemistry, Victoria has a hard time keeping her eyes off Brett. They’ve kept hands off (mostly), due to his fiancée and her own reservations. Throughout the story though, factors combine to make keeping their professional distance harder, and their budding relationship is wonderful to read. You can’t help but root for Brett, even as you understand Victoria’s reasons for pushing him away.

As well as Victoria and Brett, I also enjoyed the minor characters, from the pilot to the dog (sorry, deliberately vague to avoid spoilers!). The only negative for me is one particular scene at the house of Victoria’s best friend, Carmyn. Without giving away too much, the….openness in that particular scene felt less believable to me than the rest of the book.

Wonderful, slow-building intimacy, a great setting, steamy sex scenes and fantastic characters make Fantasy Mountain a book not to be missed!

My Review:
Overall, I really, really enjoyed this book. The heroine, Victoria, has been through more pain than a single person should when she lost both her husband and love of her life and unborn child within a week of each other. She's honestly ceased living. She exists...it's a very structured existence so that nothing and no one sneaks into her heart. She can't stand to ever feel that kind of pain again, so she's made it so that she will never risk it.

She runs a hugely successful mountain resort in Wyoming where she grants people their sexual fantasies. Her partner in this venture is Brett. They slept together when they hooked up as partners three years ago, which for Brett was life-changing. He's completely and totally in love with Victoria and at that time thought it was just a matter of time before she returned his feelings. Three years later, faced with Victoria's coldness, he's accepted that is never going to happen and asked someone else to marry him.

But the chemistry between these two remains incredibly hot and smexy.

As a reader I fell in love with both these characters. Victoria's pain, even 4 years after her husband's death, is palpable. She seems so fragile when she goes to that place in her mind, which is why she works so hard to stay so strong. She is not going to be that weak person again. Brett loves her so much, but it's been three years. You can't blame him for wanting to move on with his life even though he's realizing that may not even be possible.

When the lost four year old, Joey, comes into their lives, my heart absolutely broke, wanting this to work out for all of them. It's a really good, emotional book. There were things about the story (specific events...one at the very end of the book that I really had issue with) that made me uncomfortable, but overall I truly enjoyed reading it. I like a good angsty, emotional book and this was a good one. I fell in love with both these characters and watching them find their HEA was awesome!

When I agreed to read Fantasy Mountain by Piper Denna I knew I was reading outside of my genre, something I like to do, but am hesitant. Well, let me tell you, this time I was so glad I did!!! Miss Denna introduced me to Brett and Victoria, two deep, wonderful characters who I just couldn’t stop reading! In this erotic romance/contemporary I entered a world I felt a part of on page 1.
Victoria is a widower who hides the pain of losing her husband deep inside, along with the love she feels for Brett. She owns and operates Fantasy Mountain, an upscale ranch where your deepest, darkest fantasies can be played out.
Brett is in love with Victoria, but she won’t allow herself to love again. He is the perfect hero for Victoria. Just the right mix of strong and patient, alpha and sensitive. He had me rooting for him from the first time I met him!
The conflicts are strong, the characters even stronger in this story. The emotion behind the sex scenes is incredible. You know exactly what the character is thinking and feeling and you understand why they do what they do and say, even when you don’t want it to go that way!
This book is a keeper and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fabulous romance!! Run out and grab this one!

A very interesting, entertaining, emotional and sensual read all based around an island that a woman created to help people’s fantasies come to life on many levels. Fantasy Mountain is a story an erotic romance reader will find intriguing.

Victoria has a hidden past that only she knows all the details of. This past has caused her to close herself off to relationships, commitment and love for herself. She’s living, working and content (well sort of) to help make others happy by bringing their fantasies to life. But what she does not realize is she’s already in love and still does truly desire things for herself, but can her friends and coworkers help her to realize thins and help her to love and truly love again?

I found the story of Victoria and Britt very engrossing and emotional. I definitely felt like a voyeur on the outside looking in to so many personal emotions and sensual situations that even had me blush a time or two. I look forward to more from this author, maybe even more of Victoria and Britt in the future (hint hint).

Piper does it again with a fresh voice and a fresh setting. I love the idea of a fantasy resort for adults and Piper writes it so the reader is almost a participant. And while the sex may be hot, the story would still be great without it. Patient hero, fabulous friends, and a child to soften the hard edges all keep the story engaging and unique. Ms. Denna writes with humor, heart, and heat.

I didn't like this book. The hero is supposedly in love with her but is engaged to another woman. That woman asks her to have a threesome with her fiance and of course heroine says yes.

Then fiance decides she really likes women and dumps fiance. A few days later she asks fiance to take her back. He tells her no.

During this time, heroine is dating a movie star a former school classmate of the hero. So they are both with other people.

At this point, we're told the heroine lost a ton of weight when her first husband died and she never had an appetite for food. All of a sudden she talks about eating chocolate cake and how tight her clothes are and nothing fits. Hero thinks she looks great.

Oh and a lost 4 year old wanders onto her property so now she and the hero are taking care of a 4 year old while they look for his family for days.

Where fantasies come true…

Private Desires is a delicious erotic romance. Victoria is the owner of an exclusive resort at Fantasy Mountain where no sexual desire is too difficult for her to create the perfect sexual scenario for. Although there is one man she wishes to create a little sizzle with herself, that’s if he didn’t happen to work right down the hall.

Brett has had a desire for Victoria he’s given up hope on, or at least he had until a night of passion between them rekindles that lost dream. Now it’s time for him to satisfy her private desires, to allow sparks to flare and what’s between to fully ignite.

The chemistry is hot and the love scenes poignant as these two form an inseparable bond that gets tested in a realistic and intriguing way.

This book is filled with surprises, and if you adore erotic romance with strong character and storyline development, then this is the book for you.

This is the first book in the Fantasies, Inc. series . I found that this book pulled me in with everything that was happening. Victoria ( Vic ) has built a world renowned business called Fantasy Mountain, where all your sexual fantasies can be played out. She did this with the money from the lawsuit on behalf of her deceased husband Luke. Brett is her attorney and friend , years ago they had one night together, Brett has given up on having Vic in his life and is now engaged to Andrea, the wedding is to be in two months. Does Brett go ahead with the wedding, or will something happen that gives him his wish of having Vic in his life permanently?I was gifted a copy for an honest review barwatts@telus.net

Meh...I thought this one was lacking a bit. I thought it would be more focused on the resort, not on the owner and her love interests. I got a little bored with it...

Fantasy Mountain was a breath of fresh air for me. It was far, far from a run of the mill romance (by the way, I love run of the mill romance, and I loved Fantasy Mountain). The plot surprised me time and again, and the characters were painfully real and imperfect and sympathetic. Victoria and Britt, and even some of the supporting cast, will stay with me for a long time. I highly recommend Fantasy Mountain to lovers of romance and erotica who are looking for something fresh and believable that reads like a realistic glimpse into a relationship that finds a way through myriad challenges because it is simply meant to be.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I loved it and so will you. Piper used strong characters and story line. You will love to read about Brett and Vic. They just don't know what they both have in common. Will Brett be able to heal Victoria so that she can move on with her life a life with him? Or will he have to hang it up and move on himself?

Great characters, lots of heartbreaking tragedy...and of course, the happily ever after I craved! :) My only wish is that Joey would have somehow come back to live with Victoria :)
