The Magician's Hat

Lake Superior is somehow becoming polluted. Trash seems to be appearing out of nowhere, just like a magician’s hat. Captain Black Licorice (Our super hero receives his super powers by eating black licorice) and his friend Sergeant McHarryman must uncover the mystery of the pollution before it is too late. Captain Black Licorice circles around Lake Superior looking for the source of the pollution, and along the way, he meets Connie Servation. During the reader’s journey, he/she will discover much about the history and geography surrounding Lake Superior. Captain Black Licorice always outsmarts his enemies. He never solves his problems with violence.

I read this book when I was in elementary school. I loved it. It was educational and taught you a lot of history behind Lake Superior while also telling a fun story.
