Do kids have strokes? Is it even possible? Can my child be at risk?
The answer to all of those are yes. Through a Dad's Eyes is written by Tommy Jones, whose family was faced with a tragic brain injury to their son at an early age. At only nine, Brady Jones suffered a massive stroke for no apparent reason and was forever changed. The author tells how the situation changed his son, his family, his outlook on life and radically altered his relationship with God.
Through a Dad's Eyes is a heartwarming story about how a father has viewed and lived since June 10, 2005. Tommy has been wandering, lost for years, and has finally decided to share his story about Brady's stroke and the years of pain he has witnessed his son have each day. As parents, we look to protect our children, but a stroke is nothing anyone can prepare for or protect against.
If you are struggling with pain, sorrow, or feel lost, this is a must read about how one man has coped with his tragedy. Tommy simply reconnected with God and learned that his plans are not always in line with our own.
I have been putting my thumb print on peoples front doors for over 21 years as a residential designer. I am the CEO of Gordon / Thomas Design Group in Atlanta, GA. We specialize in single family designs ranging from 1,000 sf to over 10,000 sf. in locations all over the country.
I am a new author. My first book, Through a Dad's Eyes will be out May 20, 2014. Its an inspirational story about my 17 yr old and the struggles he has faced since he turned 9 and suffered a massive stroke. My faith was broken and after almost 8 years, I decided to restore my faith in God in order to find peace.
I have a wonderful family. My wife and I have been together almost 20 years and we have 2 boys, age 14 & 18.
I had the pleasure of meeting Tommy Jones and his son Brady at a book signing in Alpharetta. Brady’s left hand grip crushed and challenged mine, and that should be testament enough to the strength of the Jones family. The book is a quick read, but not an easy one. Mr. Jones speaks directly to all dads who think they can ‘fix’ all their family’s problems. He describes not just the chronological journey, but his own physical and emotional reckoning is the power behind Through a Dad’s Eyes. The author recounts the events of Brady’s (then only 9 years old) stroke, the assistance from friends, family, and physicians, his struggle of inadequacy, his wife’s love, and his own scare with cancer. Mr. Jones mixes the alarming with the amusing when he recounts how his trust in God came partly because of a ‘warning’ he received after crashing his motocross bike in a high risk maneuver. If you have struggled when bad things happen to you and yours, and wonder how anyone can overcome the dark times, I highly recommend this book for you or someone you know. Brady’s story, and a too-small afterward in his own words, will make your own problems seem very small, indeed. “Accept help, trust God, and GET UP AND WALK AGAIN.” Thank you, Brady, for setting the example. Get this book, read it, and share it with those you love!
