After fighting a powerful lich and his horde of undead, Raven, Romda and Ravai could use a little time off. When they are summoned for their new mission, they welcome a more mundane task. The king assigns them with a missing persons case in a long established town. The only problem is that this isn't just one or two kidnapped people … it is one-third of a town!

Even though the town of Ashton is one of the oldest towns in the kingdom, the three have never been there before. When they arrive, they find absolutely nothing familiar. They don't know anyone. The places are unfamiliar. In general, the people are quite different from the castle proper. Who can they trust? And, where is it safe?

As Raven, Romda and Ravai start to investigate, no shady characters become apparent. Instead, they find rather quirky and eclectic people. No one seems guilty, or at least not on the surface level. That doesn't shake the fact remains that there is something wrong. The noose is tightening and if nothing gets done, even more will be gone. Could this widespread abduction grow and swallow all of the people of the kingdom? Snares and traps could be anywhere, waiting to take the three knights. Raven, Romda and Ravai need to uncover this dark secret before they to become part of … the missing.

"Regardless, the opening impresses with a nicely old-fashioned feel redolent of the Norton Juster novels for young readers. There is a folksy, rustic charm to the characters and narrative, the latter gently sprinkled with a hint of the supernatural that provides an instant hook." –The Book Review Directory

Following their adventures in Malketh and the Undead, this third book brings the comedy and action into the next chapter of Raven, Romda and Ravai's ongoing saga. Sink into this epic fantasy, full of mystery and the unexpected. A great gift for your Middle Grader or anyone who wants a fun, easy read.

"The Missing," by Dave Maruszewski is the newest addition to the Raven, Romda, and Ravai series featuring a captivating blend of mystery, adventure, and character dynamics. Primarily targeted at youth audience, the book thrives in its unique characters and intriguing plot, while also addressing themes of community, trust, and the complexities of human nature.

Set in the fictional town of Ashton, the narrative begins with a series of mysterious disappearances that unsettle the community. The protagonists—Raven, Romda, and Ravai—are dispatched by the king to investigate these unsettling events. The plot thickens as they navigate a town filled with weird characters, each contributing to the depth of the narrative. The plot is well-paced, with a balance of action, humor, and suspense that makes room for an enjoyable read.

Maruszewski deftly explores several themes throughout the narrative. The concept of community is central, as the townsfolk of Ashton must come together to confront the threat posed by the disappearances. The story emphasizes the importance of trust and communication, highlighting how fear can lead to suspicion and division.

Additionally, the book raises questions about identity and the nature of humanity. The introduction of shape-shifting beings adds a fantastical element that serves as a metaphor for the masks people wear in society. The characters grapple with issues of authenticity and deception, prompting the book's audience to reflect on their own experiences with trust and betrayal.

In terms of character development, Maruszewski skillfully intertwines the investigation with character development, allowing readers to witness the growth of the protagonists as they confront not only external challenges but also their own insecurities and interpersonal dynamics. The introduction of Young Rick and the enigmatic Laura the Quiet adds layers to the story, providing both comic relief and moments of tension.

Raven, Romda, and Ravai are well-drawn, each possessing distinct personalities that contribute to the group's dynamic. Raven's eagerness and charm, Romda's intelligence and determination, and Ravai's humor and strength create a balanced trio that resonates with readers. Their interactions are authentic and relatable, showcasing the complexities of friendship and teamwork.

The supporting characters, such as the mayor and Stephen, are equally compelling. The mayor's transformation from a seemingly benign leader to a figure shrouded in suspicion reflects the theme of duality in human nature. Stephen, initially presented as a trustworthy antiquities dealer, reveals deeper layers as the plot progresses, challenging the protagonists' perceptions and forcing them to confront their biases.

In conclusion, "The Missing" is a commendable addition to the Raven, Romda, and Ravai series. Dave Maruszewski has crafted a story that is not only entertaining but also thought-provoking, addressing important themes relevant to both young and adult readers. With its engaging characters, intricate plot, and rich thematic depth, this book is sure to resonate with audiences and leave them eager for the next installment. The author’s commitment to creating a narrative that is both fun and meaningful is evident, making "The Missing" a must-read for fans of fantasy and adventure literature.

Many people have gone missing in Ashton. Sheriff Braun has been unsuccessful in his efforts to solve the disappearance cases. Heading to the king's castle to present the matter, the king decides to make the investigation the responsibility of our protagonists, Raven, Romda, and Ravai.

Between gathering evidence, investigating suspects, and the circle of mystery. The trio continues their search to find out the truth and who or what was responsible for the disappearance of many of the city's residents. Excitement and anticipation all in The Missing (Raven, Romda and Ravai Book 3) by Dave Maruszewski.

The author has mastered weaving the threads of the story to maintain mystery throughout the events that kept me excited about what was coming, which was often unexpected.

The plot twist shifts the scenario from the natural to the supernatural, blending fantasy and science fiction. Thriller and suspense that will leave you wondering.

The inclusion of a specific group of characters increases the level of suspicion, as no one is outside the circle of accusation. From a third-person perspective, the narrative's flow is coherent. The characters' conversations showed their traits in a way that made it easy to imagine. Characters as: Young Rick, the Mayor, and Rollie.

The story piqued my curiosity with its evenly paced sequence. It also addresses an ever-present idea: can the people change for the good of what is around them, or do they need someone to force their changing?

The presence of comedic glimpses and the spirit of rivalry between friends put a smile on your face.

As a reader, I wish there were page numbering and chapter names. Although I found the addition of illustrations to be a wonderful touch, as I understand that they are to suit the general atmosphere of the story. For me they lacked shades of color. However, what I mentioned above is more of a personal view and doesn't diminish the excellent work the author has put into the book.

As part of a series, the book can standalone. However, I think reading the previous parts would have increased the enjoyment.

The book is well-edited and has an expressive cover. Fun, exciting, and full of suspense with decent language and content that makes it suitable for a wide range of readers and not just children.

The Missing: Raven, Romda, and Ravai Vol III by Dave Maruszewski follows three knights as they unravel a mystery in Ashton, a town in the northeastern part of their kingdom. Mysterious disappearances of some of its well-known residents have rocked Ashton. The local Sheriff in Ashton cannot solve this case alone, as the situation is too big for him. The sheriff escalates the matter to the King’s castle, where the three best knights, Romda, Ravai, and Raven, are dispatched to solve the case. The three reach Ashton and soon begin fishing for information that can lead them to clues about the mysterious disappearances. Their search uncovers an agenda that threatens the people living in Ashton and those in nearby towns.

Dave uses the third-person narrative in presenting The Missing, giving it a classic feel reminiscent of traditional storytelling. Suspense sets early in the narrative, rising steadily through several plot twists that hold the narrative’s suspenseful character to the end. This strategy keeps the reader hooked, wondering what will happen as the plot builds to its climax and the final reveal.

Dave further uses imagery that adds a depth of intrigue to the story, evoking a sense of horror while enriching the narrative’s atmosphere of thrill. The story arc and third-person narrative further add to the narrative’s thrill, with the plot twists progressing from spooky to bizarre, featuring moments when you hold your breath and panic as the plot unfolds. As such, the narrative is fast-paced because the action never relents with sub-plots but keeps to the knight’s investigations on the missing persons. Humor is also evident in the dialogues between characters.

One thing that can be improved is the choice of character names, which I found challenging to keep up with their respective characters.

I highly recommend The Missing: Raven, Romda, and Ravai to young adult readers as the main characters seem young and playful. I also recommend it to readers who love conspiracy theories, as they will find the arguments in the book intriguing.

In The Missing (Raven, Romda, and Ravai), Dave Maruszewski delivers a thrilling blend of mystery and horror that pulls you in from page one. The story follows Romda, Ravai, and Raven, seasoned heroes weary from battling a powerful lich, as they take on what seems like a straightforward assignment. But this is no ordinary missing persons case—one-third of an entire town has vanished. As they investigate the mysterious town of Ashton, with its unassuming residents and eerie undertones, they discover dark secrets lurking beneath the surface.

Maruszewski has crafted a fun, fast-paced adventure that’s hard to put down. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat; it’s one of those stories that you breeze through in a single day, eager to unravel the mystery. The world-building is remarkable, rich in detail, and fully immersive. Ashton, although one of the oldest towns in the kingdom, feels both strange and familiar, with a multi-dimensional atmosphere grounded in reality. What stands out most is how well Maruszewski merges horror with mystery. The writing is clear, modern, and easy to read, making it accessible to a broad audience. One of the most enjoyable aspects of this book is the banter and rapport between the main characters. Raven, Romda, and Ravai play off each other with humor and camaraderie, and Maruszewski’s dialogue captures their dynamic beautifully. Ravai’s carefree approach adds a bit of lightness, as shown in scenes where he’s more interested in eating or teasing Raven than focusing on their mission. These lighter moments make the story engaging, giving you a reason to root for each of them, even as things get dark. Despite the daunting task, their interactions kept me hooked.

The Missing delivers a beautifully constructed world and a compelling mystery that’s engaging from start to finish. Maruszewski’s storytelling shines, making it an exciting and satisfying read. For anyone looking for an adventure that blends intrigue with a touch of darkness, this book is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

'The Missing, Raven, Romda and Ravai Vol III,' by Dave Maruszewski is an interesting addition to the series set in the charming and quirky town of Aston. The story follows three engaging knights: Raven, Romda, and Ravai, who venture to Aston to investigate the mysterious disappearances of its people. Their dynamic chemistry and witty banter create genuinely entertaining moments throughout the book.

One of the book's notable strengths lies in its diverse characters, each bringing their unique personality to the story. The dialogue, especially between the three knights, offers moments of genuine humor and charm. What particularly stands out are the meaningful themes of friendship, bravery, and community that are woven into the narrative. These messages resonate well with younger readers without feeling preachy.

The book presents an interesting approach to vocabulary enrichment, introducing more challenging words that can help expand a young reader's language skills, though this sometimes creates an uneven reading experience as it seems to waver between different age groups. While the story takes some unexpected turns, particularly in subplots involving the mayor and the quiet lady, these elements might work better with some additional development.

At 2 out of 5 stars, this book has clear potential in its character dynamics and positive messages, making it worth considering for ambitious young readers who enjoy a vocabulary challenge and appreciate stories about friendship and adventure. While it may not fully realize all its aims, its heart is in the right place, and certain readers particularly those who enjoy quirky characters and don't mind working through more complex vocabulary might find something to appreciate in its unique approach.

The third book of the Raven Romda and Ravai series brings readers another delightful adventure through Dave Maruszewski's "The Missing". At the start of the story, townspeople experience increasing anxiety because many residents have disappeared. The king chooses Raven, Romda, and Ravai to solve his kingdom's unexplained mystery because these three form his most effective yet unorthodox team of heroes.

Against the backdrop of their investigative journey, readers find engaging entertainment through the heroes' clever exchanges and spirited friendship while avoiding significant plot details.

Throughout the story, it progresses at a steady pace while providing readers with straightforward scenes that will move readers' hearts by exploring themes about loyalty and courage as well as teamwork.

The story taught me that unified effort prevails above all differences in personal qualities. Every team member contributes unique value to their unit, which produces a consolidated strength from their contrasting perspectives.

The novel will entertain readers who love combined elements of fantasy, and mystery. Both readers who are reopening their relationship with the series and those discovering it for the first time will find complete excitement in the story.

I therefore recommend reading "The Missing". The intriguing plotline together with simple vocabulary makes the story appropriate for readers across teenage and adult age groups. It also combines light entertainment with moral values for readers.

Here's the sequel to Dave Maruszewski's Malketh and the Undead. The Missing promises to continue the thrilling read that the first two bring to the fanatics.

There are few missing persons in Ashton, according to Sheriff Braun, that's why he reports to inner court. The king dispatches Raven, Romda and Ravai for the mission. The three go into practicing for preparation before starting the mission with investigation.

They face humans and not humans with almost no discernible features. Are they all trustable in this mission? Will they succeed?

The Missing is another exciting, thrilling and a bit mentally stimulating escapade of the three after Malketh and the Undead. It's a bit slow pace and the unconventional characters are cool, that it teaches the importance of work with play. The great companionship of Raven, Romda and Ravai teaches friendship, trust, teamwork, social life and dedication to work. The author ends up with a satisfactory and anticipating cliffhanger.

I give a four-star rate for the remarks above. The author's plot of the story and the narrative as well. Praises and compliments to this third one. I'm not much into fantasy but this one is an encouraging read.

Therefore, I recommend this book to all readers, fiction and fantasy lovers who will like the author's more refreshing adventure this time.

The Missing (Raven, Romda, and Ravai Book 3) by Dave Maruszewski follows Raven together with Romda and Ravai through their investigation of strange disappearances occurring in the town of Ashton.

Sheriff Braun experiences difficulty finding explanations when numerous residents of Ashton, the historically quiet community, disappear. The king summons Raven, Romda, and Ravai to discover the source of the mysterious disappearances. Using their intellectual gifts, powerful skills, and humorous personality, they need to discover the truth before it's too late.

Reading this novel brought me complete satisfaction. It also maintained enough intriguing plot points it displayed while continually engaging readers.

Throughout the narrative, the plot also maintained a steady pace. And the conversations between characters created an energetic flow to the writing as well.

The text portrays an accessible design with clear typography that matched the appropriate font size. The author separated the chapters attractively which created a smooth reading experience.

I must say that the way characters behaved with each other, plus the way the town felt, were what created the most impact throughout the novel.

The selected point of view worked successfully by presenting simultaneous events with different characters, thus making the story more complete.

The author carries a straightforward writing style that offers both enjoyment and comprehension while creating delightful personalities that magnetize reader loyalty.

In all, the novel is ideal for teens, young adults, and adults looking for an exciting and cheerful narrative. I highly recommend reading it.

The Missing by Dave Maruszewski is the latest book in the Raven, Romda, and Ravai series. It mixes mystery, adventure, and great characters. Made for kids, it shines with unique people and an exciting story, while touching on ideas like community, trust, and how people act.
The story happens in Ashton, where people are disappearing, making everyone nervous. The king sends Raven, Romda, and Ravai to figure it out. Things get tricky as they explore a town full of strange folks, keeping the story fun with action, laughs, and tension.
The book looks at big ideas. It’s about how a town works together when things go wrong and how trust matters. It also asks what makes people who they are, using shape-shifters to show how people hide things. The knights face challenges outside and inside themselves, growing as they go. New characters like Young Rick and Laura the Quiet add fun and suspense.
Raven, Romda, and Ravai are different but work well together. Raven is eager and likable, Romda is smart and focused, and Ravai is funny and strong. Their friendship feels real. Other characters, like the mayor and Stephen, surprise you as the story goes on, showing how people can change.

Would gladly rate a 5 star

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is suitable for readers of all ages and features a plot that involves both humans and shape-shifters. Interestingly, the town of Ashton is part of a kingdom and has a sheriff, mayor, and police officers. When a boy reports that his relatives are missing and the sheriff admits to feeling overwhelmed, the story shifts its focus to three main characters: Raven, Romda, and Ravai.

You’ll enjoy following these characters as they delve into the mystery of the disappearances. In the end, the reason behind the enemy’s actions is revealed, especially why the townspeople had to vanish.

However, the three protagonists quickly uncover what is happening, which somewhat diminishes the suspense common in investigative stories. Nevertheless, this does not spoil the overall experience. That’s why I recommend the book to readers who appreciate a blend of mystery and the fantastical.

The Missing by Dave Maruszewski is the third book in the Raven, Romda, and Ravai series. This fantasy-mystery story follows the three friends as they solve a strange case in the town of Ashton, where many people have disappeared.

After fighting the undead, Raven, Romda, and Ravai want an easier mission. But Ashton is not a normal town. The people there are odd, and the town has many secrets. As the friends investigate, they find more mysteries and dangers. They work hard to solve the disappearances and stop more people from going missing.

The book is praised for its interesting characters. Raven is witty, Romda is practical, and Ravai is brave. Their friendship adds warmth to the story. The quirky townspeople add a fun touch, balancing the darker, suspenseful parts of the plot.

Overall, "The Missing" is a charming and intriguing read, perfect for fans of character-driven mysteries with a bit of fantasy.

Maruszewski quickly introduces readers to the situation in Ashton, a small town located in the northwest quadrant of the kingdom, vividly portraying a dark atmosphere that is rapidly engulfing the town. We are then introduced to the protagonists, who appear to have earned medals and accolades for their previous heroic efforts to save the town. What remains is therefore the villains and their motives, as they are responsible for the mysterious disappearances of Ashton’s residents.

To summarize, I believe this book’s strength lies in its protagonists and gripping plot. However, I felt I didn’t get to interact with the townsfolk enough, especially those who vanished. This may be because I haven’t read the previous two books in the series. Nonetheless, I find it an appealing read for both young and adult readers.

I had mixed feelings when reading The Missing but I am also aware that I do not fall into the intended audience for this book. In my view the story has both its strengths and weaknesses but I sincerely hope Maruszewski is able to continue his series for a long time.
