`When you say yes, anything is possible. When you say no, nothing happens.'

Paul Carafotes is gaining in public notice, not only as an author of children's books but as an actor and playwright. In television he was a regular on Knots Landing and more recently on Damages. His roles in film included roles along side Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini and many other notable actors. He has won awards for his play `Beyond the Ring' and as writer director for the short film `Club Soda'. As far as children's books he has created one of the more imaginative and visually stunning children's book series of recent years - THE ADVENTURES OF CHARLIE BUBBLES! a series of books he shares with experienced graphic designer and illustrator Jeff Vernon. These sensitive and entertaining stories are not only full of rich meaning for children to absorb in building solid personalities and philosophies but are also beautiful little fables about friendship.

Paul starts his new story with the statement, `This book is about dreaming big dreams and believing in yourself.' Charlie Bubbles is learning how to ice skate under the guidance of his teacher Tai the Butterfly, but his attempts are flawed by a group of bullying crows making fun of him. Tai reassures him that he must believe in himself and suddenly Charlie blew bubbles and he could skate! His friends Paulie Pumpkin and Teddy Hiccup cheered, making the crows go away. Charlie Bubbles went home to sleep to dream about his favorite baseball team the Boston Red Sox and suddenly he was in Fenway Park. He is welcomed by all the players, asked to play shortstop, and when it comes time to catch a ball be blows a big bubble that allows him to catch the ball, but the bubble bursts and instead of falling to the ground he is supported by the very crows who bullied him, now showing him respect. Awakened form his dream he and his dad are off to the real Fenway Park for a Red Sox game. But instead of playing second baseman Charlie asks his dad if he could play shortstop, to which his dad relies, `Charlie, if you believe you can do it, then you can. You can do anything you put your mind to. Make it happen in your dreams and it'll happen in your life.’

Once again here is a terrific little book that carries with it lessons as well as a big dollop of evidence of a strong father son love.

My Son Asks for This One Every Single Night
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We stumbled onto this book at our local library and it has not left our nightstand since. My seven year old is obsessed and honestly, I do not mind reading it for the hundredth time because it is just that charming.
Charlie Bubbles is the kind of character kids instantly connect with. He is not perfect, he struggles, and he faces the kind of challenges children actually experience, self doubt, bullying, feeling like the odds are stacked against him. Watching him find the courage to push through all of that sends such a powerful message without ever feeling preachy or forced.
Paulie Pumpkin and Teddy Hiccup had my son giggling every single time. The names alone were enough to get him going. And Tai the Butterfly was a surprisingly sweet touch that my daughter, who is five, absolutely latched onto.
The Fenway backdrop was a lovely bonus for our family since we are huge Red Sox fans. It made the whole adventure feel even more magical and real.
Jeff Vernon's illustrations are warm, expressive, and full of personality. They bring every scene to life beautifully.
A genuinely wonderful book for young readers.

Our family loves the newest adventure in the Charlie Bubbles series. As Bostonians we loved our hometown Red Sox that are featured in this book. My children were also able to relate to the characters and the theme of over coming fears, being bullied and believing in yourself. This story is a home run at our house!
