The accelerated assisted evolution of the human species went against all nature. Could accelerated mutated genetic code produce a viable life form? Two AI genetic engineers were not intelligent enough to question the source of information they received, which prompted them to embark on a stream of genetic malfeasance.
They had no thought as to whether their course of action was ethical or not. They had been programed to act in the best interests of their creators. So that's what they did. By a quirk of fate their successes benefited humanity, so people thought. Others were convinced of that beyond all doubt for consequently their species were saved as well.
