When hair stylist extraordinaire Summer Snow welcomes a new client into her salon, she expects the usual chit-chat and maybe a few too many exaggerated brags. What she doesn’t expect is to be bored half to death by a woman who won’t stop telling anyone within earshot just how perfect her life is.
When this so-called 'perfect' client turns up dead—with her husband under some seriously sketchy circumstances—Summer can smell something fishy, and it’s not just the new seafood place down the street.
Just as she starts sleuthing, Summer gets hit with another a long-lost relative has resurfaced at a local retirement home, and let’s just say they’ve got a talent for pushing the legal limits. Between juggling her family drama and combing through clues that lead to more dead ends than a bad haircut, Summer is starting to think this case might be the one to outsmart her.
She’s ready to throw in the towel when she stumbles on a shocking twist that could either solve the mystery or land her in the center of her very own murder investigation.
Can Summer solve the case and stay one step ahead of a killer in Spring Harbor, or is she about to become the next 'perfect' victim?
It's time for the harvest festival in Spring Harbor and everyone is excited. While Summer is at the shop, she sees on the TV that a man died of Carbon Monoxide poisoning. What a shame. Then in walks a new client, professing how her life is perfect, everything is perfect. But she leaves without tipping. With everything so "perfect" for her, was it a mistake or was she cheap or was it something else. Meanwhile, Summer is dealing with Aunt Clara and family drama. Seems her cousin Fern is now in the assisted living facility in town and Aunt Clara warns Summer to stay away from her. She is trouble. But then there is an announcement that the festival may need to be cancelled since money to put it off is missing and on top of that, the cheapskate woman and her husband are found dead in their beds. Is it accidental or suicide or is it something else. Something doesn't feel right to Summer and although she said she wasn't getting involved in cases anymore, she can't help herself. Can she meet her cousin Fern without getting caught up in her schemes? Can she figure out what happened to the missing festival money and does it have anything to do with the suspiciously dead couple? how the couple died? Is it murder? Who is the stranger lurking around the couple's house. What does the neighbor know? So many questions. Can Summer find the answer and save the festival and not get taken advantage of by her new found cousin? The ending is great! This is a page turning read and you just can't put it down without getting to the end! This is a really good series as well as this 7th book in the series. I highly recommend this whole series, you won't be disappointed. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This is one of the best Amber Crewes has written . A woman new to the salon is very …I am me aren’t I important sort of a character . She soon comes a cropper though as someone saw fit to top her! Well wasn’t that just a shame . Her poor husband or is he the one to blame? Well of course our sleuth extraordinary is on the case but wary. A new character sets things up a notch with her hotchpotch demands . Summer Snow , is all go and she’s had to leave the salon in capable hands . Between jiggling family drama and the panorama of clues . This sleuth and her scissors has her work cut out. Haircuts and permanent actions . There’s a lot to be said for an amateur sleuth clout , delving through evidence and even medicines ( no that isn’t a clue , well maybe it is it’s up to you) . Now what do they do Aunt Clara and Snow ? Well they certainly put on a good show , and that’s a fact because those baddies keep coming back! Oh. poisoning is what they’re saying but Summer thinks there’s more underlaying…Well I’d say she has a good nose and the constabulary ought to pause and give her time to solve this crime. Sleuth win one more time ? You’ll have to read it but let me tell you it is sublime. Awesome prose , great camaraderie . Perfect characters with their own traits and more interactions with new mates and old. Please hurry the next one Amber Crewes might I be so bold , because I can’t wait to read more from you. Very satisfying storytelling too. Bravo 🤩
'Permed to Deadly Perfection' was entertaining. Its mesmerizing plot was filled with mysterious deadly carbon monoxide poisonings which spurred Summer, a hair salon stylist, and her Aunt Clara to investigate the "whodunit." Summer and Aunt Clara appeared to leave no stone unturned by researching social media, medical information, and recent comings and goings of the victims. Along the way, the duo participated in bits of levity, suspense, tension, and checking out several suspects. In addition, I liked the author's writing style: well-written characters, an interesting small-town setting, a lively tone, and a captivating storyline which held my interest throughout. Overall, I enjoyed the light-hearted narrative. I received a copy for free and am voluntarily giving my honest review.
The town always looks forward for the Spring Harbor Fall Festival. As the town is gearing up again, the festival might not happen. As much as Summer tries to keep her nose out of another murder investigation, she can’t help herself. While she searches for clues Aunt Clara is dealing with Cousin Fern. Join Summer as she figures out what happened. Is the festival still on or will it be canceled this year. The characters in this series are fun to read about and follow their relationships. This is an adventure that will keep any reader completely engaged. I highly recommend the series.

Summer has been getting a little bored with no murders to get involved in. How long can this go on? She works on a new client who wants a perm for her perfect party with her perfect husband at their perfect home. You get the idea. Can Summer manage to get the perm done without telling Ms. Perfect a thing or two? And then she doesn't even leave a tip! When the perfect couple die of carbon monoxide poisoning can Summer stay out of the way? Throw long lost Cousin Fern into the mix and things just get way more complicated! Another fun addition to the series.
This was another great Spring Harbor mystery. Amateur sleuth and beautician, Summer Snow, attempts to find out if three people were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning or if they were murdered. If they we're murdered, were their murders connected? While conducting her investigation, Summer finds out that a relative she knew nothing about was staying in a local nursing home and that her aunt Clara doesn't like or trust this relative, her cousin Fern. Can Summer solve the three mysterious deaths and find out why Aunt Clara dislikes Cousin Fern? Find out by reading this well plotted book, which I highly recommend to other cozy mystery readers.
"Permed to Deadly Perfection" is Book 7 of the Spring Harbor Cozy Mystery series, written by Amber Crewes. This episode has Summer Snow investigating the deaths of a man from a different town, as well as the deaths of a local married couple. Is there a connection amongst the three deaths that are initially determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning? Summer believes there has to be a connection, because she doesn't believe in coincidences. What evidence will she find to prove her theory of ' no such thing as a coincidence' correct. I gave this book 5 stars.
Summer gets braver each murder mystery that just keeps happening in her seaside town. Likable characters, adorable puppies, a feisty aunt, a boyfriend, a bestie and the local townspeople make this fun series a must read. Lots of trouble brewing in Spring Harbor that drifts a bad smell into Summer’s intuition. She just can’t help herself much go Ms. Beeslys dismay until she solves another case.
That Cousin Fern was something else, lol. I had a feeling she was gonna be a lot like Summer only in old lady form. Fern was such a hoot and I had to laugh at some of the crazy stuff she had going on at the assisted living facility. Meanwhile Summer was wishing for a case and got a heckuva murder case to dig around on. Like a hound with a bone, she never let go until she confronted the killer. I really liked the ending and story wrap-up and can't wait to read the next book.
Summer is dealing with Aunt Clara and family drama. Seems her cousin Fern is now in the assisted living facility in town and Aunt Clara warns Summer to stay away from her, because she is trouble. An announcement that the festival may need to be cancelled since money to put it off is missing. A new client that had her hair done and her husband are found dead in their beds. Is it accidental or is it something else. Another great read and action on the part of the Jr. Sleuths.
Summer is back at it. Unfortunately she is so distracted that her investigation and conclusions are difficult to follow. As the author noted: "Somehow, she’d spaced for almost ten minutes sitting in her car." Certainly an accurate description for her work and her investigations. She pulls off the work quite well, leaving the reader to wonder how based on her distractions.
When a woman comes in and gets a perm and does not leave a tip, Summer wonders if she is a cheap-skate or something else is happening. When the woman and her husband are found dead in their home from was appears to be carbon monoxide poisoning, Summer just has to get involved. By the time this one is unraveled, you will wonder how the next book will top this one.
As Summer tries to run her business the dead bodies are keeping her more then busy. Do people look to Summer for help or does Summer look for trouble? It's a toss-up. A never ending fall fun fest when Summer and friends interact. Highly Recommended.
An entertaining cozy murder mystery with Summer, Aunt Clara and the gang trying to solve the mystery. Misdirection, twists and turns make this a fun and enjoyable read.
