I would rate this more of a 3.....mainly because of Laura and Amy. I really like Janice Boies books, I think she was a great Sweet Dreams writer but this book left me frustrated for a few reasons. The first being Laura, she was a horrible friend for most of the book, there is no way I would have chosen her over Ben. Which brings me to the next reason, Amy, while I liked her well enough for the first half, the fact she chose Laura over Ben didn't sit well for me, given Laura was being totally unreasonable and chooses guys over her friends all the time, she also never even listens when her friends start talking to her about something, she instead ignores them to talk about herself and her latest date. Laura get's so upset that a date she didn't even like and whom she was only using, liked her friend more than her so because her ego is bruised she forbids her friend from going out with this guy......the audacity of this b*tch. If Ben had been a guy Laura really liked maybe it would have been somewhat understandable.
I expected better from Amy, she was stupid where Laura was concerned. Well at least her blindness to her friends fault is actually what helps Laura realize how horrible she was being. The worst part is I feel Amy never makes it up to Ben for this, she says at the end she "done her best" to get Ben back LOL when and where? she did no such thing. She hurt Ben deeply and I did not feel she did anything to make that up to him by the end. Which is especially frustrating over how lovely Ben was and how honest and nice he was, and how much he cared about Amy. So really I should give this a 3 stars but because I was invested in Ben so much and I did really like his relationship with Amy for most the book I compromised with a 4......but it could have been better.
Also the fact that the only reason Amy even gets back together with Ben is because Laura says it's ok........Ben deserved much better than this, he deserved her picking him regardless of what her spoiled selfish friend said. To end it all then we didn't even get an "I love you" which is the least Amy could have said to Ben. The more I remember this the angrier I'm getting lol maybe I should give it that 3. I feel I would have forgiven everything that frustrated me if Amy put more effort in for Ben at the end.
