The author retells the nativity tale in a style which reads as smoothly as fiction, yet the story does not stray from the meaning or intention of the Scriptures. The full-page, watercolor paintings were executed by Dhimitri Zonia. The lines in the illustrations give figures and objects a crumpled look, like aluminum foil. There is one magnificent overhead scene of Mary, the infant Jesus, the tops of animals, and the backs of angels gazing down on the scene. Another scene supports the true chronology of Scripture by showing the Wise Men leaving a house (not a stable) and waving farewell to Joseph and the small child Jesus (not an infant).
