Always fun revisiting the magic of my youth, and finding that as an adult, it's entirely understandable. (It doesn't hurt that I took a digital design class in college.) :-)
Written back in 1976, Arkush explains electronic gaming technology, at a time just before Space Invaders ushered in what is now called the "golden age" arcade games (approx '78 to '86). His coverage of sprite display and animations are mostly based in hardware solutions, though this had changed even as this book was being published. Interesting that he mentions vector monitors, as the first vector-based video game (Space Wars) would come out a year after publication.
