FIBONACCI SEQUENCE Fibonacci Sequence (Fee-Boh-Nan'-Chee) - A Fibonacci sequence is one in which each term is the sum of the two terms immediately preceding it. It is named for its discoverer, Leonardo Fibonacci (Leonardo Pisano). The numbers may also be referred to as Fibonacci numbers. Fibonacci sequences have proven useful in number theory, geometry, the theory of continued fractions, and genetics.
