Misely Fisher had a year to get over her girlish fantasies of happily ever after and white picket fences. After her best friend is ripped away from her and the person she thought she'd be with forever breaks her heart, she decides it's time to turn over a new leaf. She contents herself with casual hookups and one night stands, her only real focus on her career. Until Mr. 'All Wrong, Absolutely Not' barrels into her life and turns it upside down.

Talon MacArthur is used to cleaning up his little brother's messes. But when the failure of tracking him down comes with a price too steep for Talon to pay, he's willing to go to any length necessary to bring Milo home—including blackmailing the leggy best friend of his brother's girlfriend.

Will Misely be able to decide between her loyalty to her best friend or the pull of her heart? Can Talon get over his jaded outlook on his life and become a man worthy of love?

S.R. Zobel is an author from the midwest with a long standing love of romance and fantasy. With a strong passion for writing since she was a little girl, it wasn't until she had children of her own that she realized how important it was to reach for her dreams- resulting in the publication of her debut novel, a contemporary romance titled 'Flightless'.

When she is not cloistered away in her writing cave, Saphire can be found climbing on cool rocks with her family, playing with chickens and dogs and cats and reptiles (& any critter she can get her hands on, safely) or digging in the dirt in her backyard.

Plot: 5/5

Spice: 3.6/5

Please read the content warnings as it is a darker romance.

This book was so good. I give it a 4.2/5. Was it my all time favorite book ever and I will forever think about it? No. BUT it was a really great book that I will continue to recommend to people who enjoy darker romances. Personally, I enjoy a bit more spicy scenes and would’ve loved to see the MCs interact as a couple more. The ending felt slightly rushed, and could’ve used maybe 2 more chapters apart from the epilogue. It wasn’t a 5 star for me, but definitely has potential.

The spice was spicy, the plot was plotting, and the writing itself was so well written. I did throughly enjoy this book and the characters, and hope there’s more to come in the future!

I received an advance readers copy and wrote this review willingly.

Unconditional by SR Zobel is the second book in The MacArthur's series.

Misely Fisher is not the same girl she was twelve months ago. She's over her fantasy of the white picket fence and happily ever after and after having her best friend ripped away from her and her 'forever' person break her heart, she decides it time to start over. Focusing on her career, she is happy with casual hook-up until Talon MacArthur reappears back in her life and turns it upside down. Mr 'All Wrong' Talon is used to cleaning up after his younger brother Milo, but when the price for not tracking Milo down becomes too steep Talon will go to any length to bring him home - including blackmailing Misely, the best friend of his brother's girlfriend.

This is well written enemies to lovers romance that captures your attention. It is in the darker side so make sure you check your trigger warnings as some themes may be disturbing for some readers.

Misely is such a relatable character. Strong, sassy, stubborn, loyal to her family (even if they don't deserve it) and committed to doing the best she can at her job, she quickly grew on me. Talon took a little longer to warm up to but after learning about the motivation behind his actions and forever being the sucker for a confused bad boy, I quickly came around to him as well.

Unconditional is a quick, gripping read with the do they/don't they push and pull relationship between Misely and Talon keeping you hooked until the last page. While the ending felt a little rushed (personally I would have liked more of them as a couple), I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more about the MacArthurs in the future.

Was so thankful to have been chosen for the ARC and I was NOT disappointed! I did read the first book, Flightless and I’m so very glad I did, although it is not necessary, I highly recommend doing that first! It sets a great story up.

Misely’s backstory was one I was very much hoping to get to know, as she grew on me very quickly. Stubborn and sassy, she became one of my favorite characters from the first book.

I was happy to get to know more about Talon, the hard headed man who stole my heart. I was very curious about him, as I’m a sucker for a bad boy 😌

This was extremely well written, I didn’t get lost one time during the entire book, which I know can be a struggle for some. I would have probably finished this in one day, had I had the time! 🩵

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is well written enemies to lovers romance with a dark side, so please read the content warnings.

Misely is strong, sassy, stubborn and loyal to her family (not that they deserve it. Seriously wtf) She wants to do right with the kids she works with.
Talon is kinda an asshole at first but as you learn his motivation behind it all, you start to see his side too. Then again I'm a sucker for a bad boy

It is well written and it hooks me in. The pull and push between Misely and Talon was addictive. I hope to see more from this universe in the future.

Check trigger and content warnings before reading if you need to do so.

I really enjoyed Unconditional. The character development was amazing. Misely is strong, loyal and stubborn, so overall more relatable. Talon was a little more difficult to grasp until intentions became clear. It felt slightly rushed, but very well written. The spicy scenes were great, I do wish there were more interactions with the MCs as a couple. That being said, I did enjoy the overall world building and look forward to more! I would definitely recommend to those who enjoy dark romance.

Where to start? First off, this was my first time doing an arc read, and I am beyond honored.
I went into this book a bit apprehensive, to say the least. I ABSOLUTELY loved Flightless. I ate it up in 2 days. I was not excited when I saw that this book was based on Misely and Talon. I was not really feeling either of them in the first book.
It did not take long for me to warm up to Misley. The author did a bang-up job with the character development in this book. Talon, on the other hand, took much longer for me to come around to. Yet again, the author delivered right until the very end.
The ever-present will they won't they kept me on my seat all the way to the last page and I am here for it!
Overall, I would recommend this series to anyone who loves those enemies to lovers, but remember to check your trigger warnings as there are some heavy themes that might be disturbing to some.

I received an advanced reader copy and am writing this review of my own free will.
