I killed this book when I received it to read, the descriptions overall were on point every single time I felt like I was really there. The banter, heartache, love, friendship, found family and so much more were what kept me going the whole time and I couldn’t imagine a better writing with this book it was such perfection. I fell in love with the three main characters Tia, Corvu, and Gecko and it had my heart in so many directions when reading it was so amazing and I can’t wait for the next book. I love the way Serena writes 💚

As with all Serena Knights books, the description was on point. And I love that it was story focused with spice mixed in. I can't think of many better authors in this genre. She's pretty much perfect. Her writing has the ability to make me feel like I'm part of the story.

Tia, Corfu, and Geku are perfect MCs. They all still have a huge part of my heart and live rent-free in my head.

The banter, heartache, love, friendship, found family, and oh so much more kept me reading. The twists and turns in this book was just capturing.

The character development was spot on. It was masterful, and you felt like you knew these characters, and they were your best friends. And it takes a masterful writer to make you feel that way.

I will always highly recommend Serena knights when you want a good read with a good, strong story. She is a master story teller.

I absolutely ate this book..lol.. it was so good that I couldn't put it down. The world building/description of things/people is so well done. I could picture myself in Skiora right alongside the characters!

As far as the characters, I think they were well thought out and depicted so well. The main 3, which are Tia, Corvu, and Gecko, are absolutely amazing together.. they, of course, had some issues to begin with, but they become family.

The plot twists will def get ya on this one, so beware.. chapter 17 will forever live on in my head!! Highly recommend for anyone who loves fantasy and adventure with a little bit of romance stirred in!

I honestly do not know where to begin...I read what you could call an Early Release Copy, and let me just say this book, even unpolished, is so incredibly amazing! From the characters to the scenery to the PLOT TWISTS! I was HOOKED! Serena does an amazing job describing virtually everything, the towns, the clothes, the characters....I could see it all as if I was there. The story is captivating and made me want to pick up the next book immediately. I have a true love-hate relationship with Corvu but I promise it is deserved! Tia had me wanting to yell at her several times and at one point I was ready to yeet her off a cliff, but she does redeem herself towards the end. And of course we all love Gecko, sweet little Gecko.

Very few people will understand the reference I'm about to make, BUT the author will, so I am going to include it: I am still not over THE CHAPTER...And I may still hold a tiny bit of resentment for it xD

First thing to mention is this is a new to me author. I got an extremely early draft of this book and it was incredible to have the opportunity to get more insight into her writing process. That’s important to note, because reading this you’ll come to find out how much intentionality was put into every detail, and that’s something I really love and appreciate. It’s easy for books to start to run together, because of their predictably, but this book is not that. The world building is not overwhelming and is woven through the story expertly. The characters are interesting and full of personality. I didn’t feel like any of the side characters were any less three dimensional than the main characters. The pacing is perfect. At some point you start to feel like maybe you are Tia, the FMC, unraveling the mysteries of this new land she’s found herself in while navigating relationships full of secrets. Her joy, sadness, worry, and heartbreak, are yours too. This book is an exhilarating roller coaster ride, and I highly recommend it.

I absolutely love this book! It gets your attention early on. It's medium to fast paced. The writing style was unique without constant repetition. The world that Serena writes is so vivid with detail so it was easy to imagine what everything looked like! It was like watching a movie! I felt like I was going through the adventure myself, I read this in a day because I couldn't put it down, absolutely devoured it. To my fantasy readers who enjoy a variety of characters and otherworldly (no pun intended) creatures you need to read this. Love love love!

This was a wonderful debut novel. This sucks you in from the beginning, and the action keeps you glued to the story from start to finish. This was definitely a fun, easy read that kept me waiting to see what would happen next. I loved Gecko. He was a lovable side character that I feel like many people will find endearing. This is definitely a book that makes you want to pick up the next one ASAP. It was a fun 1st book, I can not wait for book 2!!

Just going to start off by saying Tia stressed me out the entire book. Now that that is out of the way, oh my gosh!! The details in this book were amazing. Gecko is by far my favorite character! The attention to detail, the questions Tia poses along with the loveable trio made this book an instant favorite for me. I can not wait for Book 2 so we can see Corvu’s side of everything

This book is so adventurous and Serena does a great job bringing this world to life. It was a fun read and while there are sweet moments I would not call this book spicy. I wish there had been more for Tia and Corvu's relationship to grow but maybe that comes in book 2.

Oh. My. GOSH!! I love this book. The twist and the turns got me. The SLOW BURN.
Tia is an orphan from New York. She’s never known her parents since she grew up in an orphanage. Luckily for Tia it wasn’t all bad and she made the most of her childhood. Unfortunately for Tia being an orphan doesn’t necessarily mean you are rolling in money so while she is a student, she also works at a convenience store. Her job at the convenience store is what leads to her meeting Sheila. Sheila is a homeless woman who Tia sees almost everyday. One day Sheila gifts Tia a necklace. This same day Tia is mugged. Instead of dying like she probably should have, Tia is transported to a different realm, Skiora. The realm is full of Daemonaria, fae-like creatures of all kinds. She quickly learns she is not safe in this realm due to a multitude of factors. Luckily for her she meets Corvu. He promises to help her get to the capital, Wanbourne, to get the Wizard to transport her back to New York. Along the way Tia makes some bad choices but luckily she meets Gecko, an adorable pixie boy, who helps her not die. As the trio set off to Wanbourne they encounter many different Daemonaria many of whom want to kill them. That doesn’t stop them from their task and what follows is a fun adventure with the slowest of burns, found family, and Tia almost dying multiple times.
Tia is an interesting character. Despite being 21 years old, she’s still very naive. A lot of her actions in the book are from that naivety. That doesn’t make her any less endearing though. You almost come to expect Tia to do something dumb and Corvu or Gecko to come and fix it.
Corvu is a complex character with a lot of unknowns. He’s a Trickster which is seen as a cursed being in Skiora. This leads to a lot of trauma and distrust of people. He’s the cautious to Tia’s recklessness.
Gecko is my favorite character. He seems like he should be nothing more than comic relief but he’s more than that. He represents a lot of the good in Skiora and helps Tia a lot through the story. His relationship with Corvu starts as one of distrust but grows to be one of great friendship. He was the character I was most emotionally invested in.
The relationships between these characters are so important to the book. It’s not just a romance story but a found family. The characters make you realize how important friendship is in a hard world.
The romance is DELICIOUS. I loved the slow burn. I think this is one of the slowest burns I have ever read. The tension and flirting is just perfect. I could not get enough of it.
This book was just amazing. I truly loved reading this book and can’t wait for the next one.

I'm in love! The author clearly takes her time fleshing out characters and leaves you questioning things in all the best ways. I adore Tia, Corvu, and Gecko. Their relationship as it grows is sweet and playful. Ch 17 made me question everything in all the best ways and the ending? I did not see it coming! Absolutely worth the read!

The book is a sweet little tale with new creatures and twists and turns at every page. There’s a lot of world building! I can see the fantasy land of Skiora perfectly and would describe it as almost medieval. It’s a place I want to visit. I love the introduction of new fantasy creatures and the fact they have pictures to show you at the end of the book so you don’t have to just assume you’re imagining it correctly. You will have a love/hate relationship with the MMC in the best way possible. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book! I would say give it a read!

Lovely fantasy read! The story building is slow enough for you to keep up but fast enough to keep you wondering. That goes for that story too! You’re always left curious about what is going to happen next making this a book you can’t put down. The new creatures she weaves into the story fall in beautifully along with their story lines. There are also plenty of “what!” Moments and times when you love and hate the same character. You won’t be disappointed by reading this book!
