Boston Metaphysical Society is a webcomic intended to be a six issue miniseries. Currently it is just beginning chapter 4.

The previous chapters contains a lot of important information about BMS's world and characters. You'll miss quite a bit by starting here - go back to the beginning.

Note: I am reviewing the comics that comprise this collection, not the printed nor e-book editions (and thus not any additional material).

The end of chapter 2 saw both Boston Metaphysical Society and B.E.T.H. facing chaos in the city. The attacks of the creature referred to as "the shifter" have ignited class conflicts, divided loyalties and dangerous countermeasures. Things get worse as chapter 3 opens with more supernatural violence and an interesting potential new alliance.

There's solid progression here as BMS continues its layered, gradually building story. This somewhat quieter chapter contains a lot of enticing hints and ominous foreshadowing. The interwoven plot threads are starting to coalesce, and it's becoming obvious that at least one solution is worse than the problem.

One of the most enjoyable things about the comic is the character moments carefully woven into the story that give great depth without disrupting the narrative flow. Numerous characters get these moments here and the insights into their agendas, morals and motivations enhances the comic significantly.

Chapter 3 is another great installment of Boston Metaphysical Society and sets things up nicely for next time.
