Nathanial Steel is a silent warrior who serves and protects as a personal bodyguard. There’s very little he fears until he is introduced to Journey Bisset. Their attraction is instant but if he fails her the disappointment will be the only thing capable of penetrating his armor.
Journey Bisset is driven by her need to exist in peace. She cares very little about the opinions of others. Journey’s individuality is firmly defined by her heart’s mission. Once she crosses paths with Nathanial Steel, Journey realizes the only peace she will ever find is acceptance that the one man who sees and understands her refuses to cross the self imposed lines he’s drawn between them.
Since their first interaction Journey and Steel are instantly drawn to one another but refuse to give in. Steel’s fear of history repeating itself holds him back and Journey’s stubborn will won’t allow her to push.
They both learn the hard lesson that you can avoid your feelings but you can’t deny your heart.
This can be read as a standalone however, for a better reading experience, start with Forever Tru.
K.C. Mills is a USA Today bestselling author of over 100 traditionally and independently published novels, including Innocent Intent, Christmas in Spite of You, and You Could Do Damage. Since publishing her first novel in 2015 Mills has solidified her literary career by writing beautifully flawed characters and realistic, edgy stories displaying love in all shades of brown. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia and can be found online at theauthorkcmills.com.
Since Journey’s sister married super producer Cash Avery, sales for her online business Pure Beauty have skyrocketed. So much so, that she can barely keep up with the orders. Tru has tried to convince Journey to sign on with a distributor but, she’s hesitant to sign over control of her company to anyone. Add to that, she’s fighting her attraction to Cash’s bodyguard while already being in the middle of a situationship. Steel has been in love with Journey from the moment he met her but, he refused to act on it because he couldn’t give her the kind of relationship she deserved. So, he settled for loving her from afar and being her protector. That is, until they crossed the line. If I’m keeping it a buck, I didn’t remember these characters. Hell, I still don’t. But, luckily, I was able to enjoy the book without remembering anyone. Journey’s Love was a sweet follow-up to Forever Tru. Steel made sure he put in the work to make sure he and Journey would have a strong foundation and a solid future. I love the updates we got on Cash, Tru, and their kids. And, the epilogue made me smile. 😊😊😊 Well done KC.
I enjoyed getting to know Journey and Steel! Steel was very much still a playboy when we first opened the book and Journey was wasting another man's time lmao. Honestly, these two were equally yoked and waiting on the right timing for each other. I initially thought that would be a simple answer but it wasn't. Steel rightfully so had to come correct for Journey not only for her but for Tru and Cash. He had a lot to heal within himself and the toxic parent situation was hurtful but is a real-life scenario for some. I think KC handled Steel’s story with care and acknowledged you can take control of your life no matter what people told you in your past. I enjoyed him being vulnerable with Journey and being the biggest supporter of her business. Their love was easy and I enjoyed reading that. I loved the updates from Tru and Cash and the kids! This was a nice follow-up story and the series and a sweeter romance for KC although there are some heavy topics covered (I.e abandonment issues, toxic parent, etc)
I didn't expect Journey’s story to be so deeply layered. Steel was gone the moment he met Journey. This man showed her how to be loved before he even knew he loved her. He was her protector, her guardian, her everything. She then became his peace, the thing he needed the most. Steel was so broken that the only thing he knew how to do was his job and slide in sumethin’ wet. But once he met Journey, she had his whole attention. However, his baggage prevented him from having her. I loved and respected that about him. She deserved the best version of himself, and he realized that. It’s heartwarming how he did just that in order to have her. Love these sisters.
I absolutely loved Steal and how he loved Journey. These two were destined to be together but because of Steal’s family dynamic he was afraid of pursuing anything with her because he was afraid of hurting her or her hurting him. Shout out to Dr.A tho she made him realize he was capable and worthy of love. I was so happy when they finally quit playing and made it official.
Steal’s mom was trash I’m so glad he finally got it off his chest and told her ass off and quit taking her insults. I loved how he set boundaries with her and refused to bend on them.
I loved that we got a lil update on Tru and Cash as well 🫶🏾
KC literally never misses no matter the genre I can always count on her to deliver some 🔥 Tha 🐐 fr.
Journey and Steel were a great match! That man loved her from the moment he saw her and she felt the same. I admired how he wanted to make sure he was in the right space mentally and emotionally before they got serious. His relationship with his parents definitely explained a lot! With a mother like his, it’s no wonder he was hesitant to have something real. I love how they supported one another’s dreams too because it showed that their connection was beyond the physical. The epilogue made me smile.
I kind of feel like I’m being generous with giving this 3 stars because honestly this didn’t need to be a book. I feel like their story and Tru and Cash’s story should’ve been one just showing two separate romances in one book. For one the story is a short book yet it was repetitive. For two Journey in the beginning was childish for that whole Travis fiasco. She did that instead of just expressing her feelings like a grown woman to both Travis and Steel. For three Steel taking forever to come to terms with his feelings was something else. It made sense but I feel like it should’ve happened faster instead of taking 2 years. I liked when the wheels finally got to moving on their relationship but most of the book was Steel being uncertain about himself and trying to work through his personal life. It became repetitive. Idk I just feel like the things happening in this book would’ve made more sense if it was within the time span of the first book. Like Steel meeting her and knowing she was the one so he started working on himself not long after meeting her would make sense. And it’ll make sense for Journey to not waste peoples times and assert dominance letting him know what was up with her feelings. I didn’t hate the book but it was something.
Introduced in book one, Steele was a larger than life mean human shield for Cash who was also known to lay them then leave them. What was behind that tough exterior though was a hurt man with a past that was sad and at the hands of someone who should have loved him most. Journey, Tru's sister was a body butter making Granola Crunchy adjacent chic that had her sights on Steele and after two years too long they both stopped playing around and became each other's one. It was cool to see these characters grow and endearing to see Steele love outbound and genuinely despite not being loved for much of his life. It was also nice to see Tru and Cash years later along with an epilouge that gave us a look into the future for Journey and Steele. Overall, I liked this follow up.
2 stars I don’t like to formally rate books I don’t complete but I would not push myself to finish. I was not feeling either of the MCs.
I don’t like how journey is handling Travis. She’s being immature and unfair and trying to act like he’s the one being juvenile. I hope he’s not turned into the bad guy.
I’ve yet to feel the connection with journey and steel. They both are lacking in the communication dept. she’s stuck on him and won’t give Travis a real chance nor cut him loose. Meanwhile steel screwing everyone woman a round bc he’s too chicken to step to journey. All very exhausting
Travis is being mature , trying to have a very adult conversation and journey is straight lying to his face. I can’t respect her. Sometimes women turn men into fuckboys.
I like the fact that the book touched on the subject of mental health and how Steel sought help for himself and his parents so they wouldn’t inflict his future children with the same trauma as they did to him. Steel knew that Journey was the one for him but he waited until his mental was good. Journey and Steel were good together once they moved forward without either one holding back. I’m glad that we got an epilogue because it was like the book abruptly ended and the epilogue was their life fast forwarded over details that we wanted to read about. Especially at least knowing who the twins took after and their names.
This was a sweet little read! I love stories that embraces grown men being in therapy! I loved Steel for Journey! He loved her from the day that he saw and her even if he didn’t speak it. He is actions showed it which is what matters the most. I only wish they didn’t wait so long to let their love flourish. Why wait 2 years, have them involved in useless situationships only to distract them from each other, when they could had spent that 2 years deepening each other’s love. I loved that Steel took the time to study her and recognized that if wanted to be the best man for her he needed to figure out things about himself, first starting with his parent and their discrepancies. The fact that Journey checked his momma at the first sign of disrespect! There wasn’t too much going on with their story but enough to keep you interested!
Great read! I just knew that Steel and Journey would get together! Steel was broken due to his selfish mama, but he recognized that he needed to do the work if he wanted to be with Journey! Journey, knew she wanted Steel, but just didn't understand why he was so resistant, though he was at her beck and call! Have Cash and Tru back in the story was good also! Relationships ships can be complicated, but Journey and Steel were able to finally express how they truly felt about one another! Loved the epilogue!
I really enjoy K.C. Mills writing, in Journey’s Love we follow Journey and Steel’s relationship. Neither one wants to admit their feelings for the other. However frustrating the characters appeared I really enjoyed this installment to the series. Steel’s character was very personable and I Ate every bit of his story up! Journey didn’t give me much of a strong feeling she seemed very reserved and simple. I can say that they balance each other out nicely. I expect more from K.C. Mills and can’t wait for the next book I pick up from her.
Listen KC Mills doesn’t miss. I’m on a mission to catch up and read all of her work!!
And she did it again with this one!!! The characters are real, hilarious and lovable. The love story is top tier but there are so many dimensions!!! Family trauma and generational curses come to play.
Steele and Journey were everything!!! The match made in heaven we didn’t know existed.
I really really enjoyed this book. I loved Journey and Steel together. Steel was the definition of intentional. He made sure he always had Journey’s back and showed how much he cared through his actions, way before they even got together which was so sweet! Really liked these two together. Their story was so sweet and right! Really glad Steel was able to speak to a professional about his negative thoughts due to childhood trauma and heal from them.

Two people who against each other were the two that ended up with each other. Journey and Steel’s relationship started before they even committed to each other. Love how Steel was involved in therapy and tried to fix himself, his heart and mind while being with Journey. Journey stood by her man and learned who he was as a person, her boyfriend and finally her husband.
Journey’s Love unfolds slowly, almost quietly. You’re not watching the story, you’re inside it. Walking beside Journey as she holds her ground but lets herself soften. Feeling Steel before he speaks, steady, protective, always there. Their connection grows in silence, in proximity, in trust built over time. Nothing is forced. Nothing is rushed. Just two people learning how to rest in each other. It’s intimate, warm, and meant to be felt more than read.
This woman does not miss. It doesn’t matter what it is she writes. It is going to be a banger. And this is no different. Their relationship was everything. The way he treated her like she was his even when she wasn’t. That man stopped the world for her. The things that man did for her and she didn’t even know. The way she poured into him. This book was sensational
Great contemporary romance read! I love ❤️the Bisset sisters🙌🏽🙌🏽. Nat was do in love with Journey he didn’t know what to do. Parents can damage they kids lives into adulthood. Nat’s mom was 🗑️ trash. I wanted him to let her have it. I am glad his issues did not stop 🛑 him from loving Journey. Definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Journey was the baby sister and she played it well, Tru married her crush and she didn't know that she would fall for the person that protected him. Steel knew he wanted her at first sight but didn't know how to love someone he had women on rotation and until he got his self together she was off limits but he couldn't hold out any longer he had to have her and he did
As usual, when I see a K.C. Mills book released, I’m going to read it immediately! Nee and Steels story was so full of love (despite them trying to run) and getting a peak at Cash and Tru’s family was an added bonus. Steel’s mama was a piece of work but I loved the boundaries he set with her. Great job as always!
Soooo glad we got Journey and Steel’s story. I finally understand him and everything makes since. I love him and even when they weren’t together, he always put her first!!! They were everything for each and I loved it all!!! Great read.
This story was different. I wasn’t prepared for Steel to behave like a gentleman. He was on a real Journey. Great love between them and good stogy line.
Steel knew who his heart desired and he refused to taint her by coming to her so broken and confused ! ! ! Steel put in the work while setting the foundation of his and Journey’s love ! ! !
Nathaniel & Journey!!! It's a messy, sweet love story. I felt for Nathaniel's situation, and I understood why he was reluctant to fall in love. But his loyalty from afar was beautiful. Journey was over the show and wanted His love!
Steele gave his mother too much control of his life. I would have dealt with her from a distance. He helped her and she still wasn't grateful. I wished his father would have been in his life. Journey and Steele made a wonderful couple.
I loved these two stories about sisters finding love! I’m sooo sad that it’s ending. I need an update or something like how is the momma? She got her twin grandboys and what about Steel and his mom and dad just some much and I would love to hear more!
I love this story. Simply put. I got to see Tru and Cash again. And I too fell in love with Steele with his Alpha male though vulnerable self. I will continue to read more of this author's work.
