This is a book about a young family's year spent living and teaching English on Jeju island in Korea. I was amazed at how much this book mirrored my family's own year spent living and teaching on Guam. We also left the U.S. with an infant daughter and toddler son in order to teach in the local schools there. We went through just about everything the author and her family did, from the many trips to the beach, to being broke, to temper tantrums, to car trips around the island, to looking for cereal and peanut butter to feed our kids.
A well written book that captured the island and its people well. I enjoyed the author's many family stories more than her ramblings and sometimes-too-lengthy descriptions of the food and sites of Jeju. However, I couldn't agree more. You can travel with kids and life is much too short to put off seeing the world until college graduation or retirement.

I absolutely loved this book! I brought the book along on my trip to Jeju Island, S. Korea and read it while on the island.
It's written by an American woman who spent a year on Jeju with her husband and two small children. She was an English teacher for Korean kindergarden students. The book chronicles the family's time on Jeju.
I highly recommend the book, especially if you are visiting Jeju. But even if your travels don't take you to Jeju, the book is an excellent story of what it's like to immerse yourself in a very different culture.
