Lord Saer Tufaro was raised to be the prince’s Wing—the truest and most loyal personal guard a royal could ask for. He would gladly sacrifice his life to save his best friend—the future king of Eradrist—but that may be exactly what the rebels have planned.
The Red Asters were the ones to place Saer in the palace after the old king was usurped. Close to the throne and above suspicion, he was to be an invaluable tool for the cause. But a spy is only useful if his loyalties aren’t torn.
When the prince is manipulated into an arranged marriage to the former king’s bastard daughter, tension in the palace grows. The lady is as innocent as she is beautiful and would make the prince a wonderful wife. If only she didn’t make Saer’s heart race…

I thought this was a slightly sweary YA fantasy romance novel when I bought it, but it's more adult than expected from the blurb. While no explicit sex occurred within how far I read, there's some anatomical talk (Saer starts thinking about how the girl makes his c*ck react) and obsession/lust themes that I found uncomfortable given those YA expectations. The opening scenes and intrigues were good and I wanted to know more, but I was not prepared for the way the forbidden romance is handled. To me it read more like an adult alpha male romance with a similar tone to PNR, which is not my kind of thing as I find that possessive tone triggering. If you like the male-POV PNR style, you will like this more.
ALL THE FEELS!!! I LOVE this WONDERFUL Fantasy about friendship and love!!! Bastian and Saer grew up together, after their first meeting at 2 yrs old, when they bonded immediately. Prince Bastian and his Wing (protector), Saer, were like brothers. But then the Prince is told he will marry Princess Karina. Saer, not knowing the Princess had come to the castle, meets Karina in the garden and he ends up with feelings for her. But there is so much more to this story. 263 pages full of wonderful characters, adventure, action, friendship, romance and ALL THE FEELS!! I am so in love with Bastian and Saer’s friendship/brotherhood. I think if I had to pick a favorite character, it would be Bastian. Although Saer is a close second. I FREAKIN LOVE THIS STORY!!!! I highly recommend it!!
I picked this because the author co-wrote a series I really liked. It isn't something I would normally read but I really enjoyed it. It is single POV from the main male character which you don't see too often in romance. I found him to a bit annoying at times. The world building wasn't great but as a romance it was good.
