Worlds both mortal and immortal, connected to our own through the thinnest of veils, mingle myth and magic in modern-day cities. Fairies and witches sling spells while hellhounds and unicorns race, and ghosts make deals with the living. From monster trainers to shop clerks, everyone is just trying to pay the bills by any means necessary.
These eight tales introduce a universe where the impossible is just another Tuesday and monsters are more than just fairy tales–they may be your neighbors. From Fairy Godmothers to malicious hags, explore what happens when the magic and the mundane meld into one. If you enjoy quirky, off-beat urban fantasy, this collection is for you.
united by the intersectional theme of our world and the world of Grym, these eight stories are a delight to read. A fairy godmother changing the tale, a human helping a ghost gain a measure of peace and leave the mortal world, the results of a mythical creature race, kidnapped children, zombies, and more. Each story is a delight.
These are the types of stories that my university creative writing courses wanted us to write, but I suspect most of us never achieved.
These short stories were very easy to read and fun to read about each mythological/folklore character. Each had a story that was different than the other. I think the Sphinx was my favorite. They were pretty quick and snippy so nice palette cleanser.
