The Last Vial

Rate this book
This legal thriller begins during one of Chicago’s worst blizzards, when a disgruntled scientist somehow eludes Keller Pharmaceutical Company’s airtight security system to contaminate a dozen vials of insulin. Keller’s CEO discovers the contamination, but only months later when the scientist’s body is recovered from the bottom of Chicago's North River. By then, the insulin has long been shipped. The CEO sends Bradley Sherwood and Harold Bender, two Keller executives, to reclaim the vials before authorities discover the security breach.

Problems arise when the two arrive in a small Texas town. They discover that a rich businessman has already used some of the contaminated insulin and died. The man’s wife, Cassidy Taylor, is accused of his murder.

Taylor hires Chase Williams, a talented lawyer with a tragically haunted past. When Keller’s men recover all but one of the vials, Williams becomes the only person standing between Taylor, a gifted prosecutor, and the world’s third largest pharmaceutical company, which appears willing to stop at nothing to hide the secret hidden in the vials. As the mystery unravels, doubts emerge about Cassidy Taylor, and Williams’ own ghosts start to cloud his judgment.

Burned-out, and long since out of the high-profile defense business, Williams must battle a talented prosecutor, a multinational corporation, and his own demons to defend Taylor. Whether she is imprisoned for murder, and whether Keller will pull off a tragic cover-up, depend entirely upon Williams, who must expose the secret of The Last Vial.
