Men Who Stitch Mysteries #3
Election Frog
Elections aren’t usually too contentious in Prospector’s Rest--but nobody told the thieves that.
It’s Election Day in December in the tiny mountain town of Prospector’s Rest, North Carolina, which should mean nothing more than a bit of glad-handing, as the various mayoral prospects try to win over the last few voters of this town of 300 (or thereabouts). But this one is different. From the not terribly bright high school boys scribbling insults about “Velveeta” on Mayor Velveteen’s signs to her longtime rival’s slurs on her looks (she really doesn’t look like a witchy frog), this election is a bit more charged than most. But when somebody manages to steal the town’s election machines, things take a more sinister turn.
It’s up to Sheriff MacBeth (Mac) Welles, her boyfriend and devoted crafter Obadiah (Di) Goode and his Men Who Stitch friends, along with Sgt. Peewee and their other department pooches, to sniff out the thief, but it’s no easy job. In only six months, Mayor Velveteen has cleaned up the mayor’s office (which means no more bribes to the City Council and others) and is turning the town into a tourist haven. From the Ladies Aid members she won’t flatter, to the billionaire vacation home owners she’s trying to make pay taxes, to the band parents who aren’t getting a second year of new uniforms for their kids, and several other disgruntled parties, not everyone’s on her side, and the suspects are mounting.
Sorting through it all, Mac has to rely on old friends and new, but, the further she looks, the more dangerous things become. First it’s the election machines, then the disappearance of her youngest officer. Add to that an attack on her newly-appointed tech guy and the drugging of Mayor Velveteen, and Mac and Di are up against a whole new kind of villain.
Put on a “Vote for Velveteen” crocheted frog pin, listen to an oompah band play Iron Maiden, and join Mac, Di, Sgt. Peewee, and the gang in their third big adventure to find the thieves before Election Day!
Set in a fun, fictional town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Men Who Stitch diverse, cozy mysteries will have you wanting to move in with the colorful residents of Prospector’s Rest and beg for another tale of the adventures of its odd citizenry.

Sheriff Macbeth( Mac) Welles and her boyfriend Obadiah ( Di )Goode master crafter along with his men who stitch friends along with Peewee and other dep. pooches sniff out the clues and cause mayhem and chaos for the cause. It’s Election Day in December in the small populace ( 300) of Prospector’s Rest , North Carolina. The election machines have been stolen . The dimwits who did clueless. But it disrupts proceedings nonetheless. Not only that but destruction of the voting media has been destroyed too. What are these disruptive people up to? Who wins in the end? What exactly is happening, and why? Is it anything to do with this new guy but there’s someone gone missing …What exactly are our sleuths missing? Onwards and upwards to strive to solve their mission. Brilliant prose, and storytelling on the nose. Good.

The upcoming election is going to be a doozy. Running for the office of Mayor, Acting Mayor, Velveteen’s opposition is a relative newcomer to town Nora Dugan who wants the job badly enough to play dirty. When Sheriff MacBeth (Mac) Welles is called to investigate the vandalizing of Velveteen’s political signs, the boys who are apprehended confess that they were paid to do it. Taking care of that problem was easy compared to the discovery that the voting machines are missing. Now to prove that Nora Dugan is responsible for the theft is the sheriff’s number one priority. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and anxiously await the second book. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

Sheriff MacBeth Welles is on the case when the election machines are stolen from city hall just before the election. Mac and Mayor Velveteen are sure that rival mayoral candidate Nora is behind the theft, but how to prove it? This entertaining mystery is filled with lots of quirky characters (including the animals), love, and a bit of humor. Very enjoyable series where everyone knows everyone else, and most look out for each other.
I received an ARC via StoryOrigin, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Mac and Di have so much mystery to sift through. I was getting confused at times but was so hooked at the same time. If you want a mystery that will have you looking everywhere, this is it. A great story.
