This stress reduction book outlines the "cause and effect" relationship of stress, guiding individuals in discovering that stress is an internal reaction to outside stimulus. It offers practical advice for redirecting thoughts towards the stimulus rather than focusing on changing circumstances over which they may have little, if any, control. Once the reader acknowledges that stress is internally generated, he or she can begin eliminating it by learning practical methods of dealing with emotional responses to situations that trigger stressful feelings. These include the use of writing, humor, compassion, family relationships, physical activity, and mindfulness. Finally, upon elimination of these negative emotions, the book delves into the nature of creative problem solving skills and how participants can easily learn to tap into these at any time.
I thought Kent did a great job with his message of reducing stress, espcially with the use of humor. He uses stories from his everyday life to really get his points across and bond with the reader.
I met Kent several years ago when I was performing @ The Loony Bin in Oklahoma City,OK. He was the emcee for that week and we really got to talk a lot. He's a great man and I hope he's doing well. I may see him soon as I'm due back at The Loony Bin in July 2012. He's also a public speaker and tackles a lot of life's prblems in this book.
An easy read full of common sense. I have not spoke to Kent in years, so he has no idea of this review I'm doing. I found his book recently on one of my Dad's shelves in his office. Dad has not read it yet, but plans to soon. He had forgotten about the book in his busy, stressful life. I hope Dad can finf the time to read Kent's book and learn to Let It Go, Just Let It Go!
