It was so interesting researching and writing this book. For those of us who came of age after the civil rights movement of the 1960s, it's hard to fully comprehend the extend that racism permeated the lives of African Americans. It's unfathomable. Hopefully, in writing this reference book for a high school audience, I can help them understand the individual impacts this historic decision had on the lives of not just African Americans, but on all Americans.
