For the Love of Cats: A Delightful Photo Celebration of Life With the Feline Kind

Cats are amazing creatures! If you have one, you know they aim for the heart - and they never miss. No matter how much you try to resist, the average man, woman, and child are no match for the purrs of a soft, yellow kitten, the regal stance of the Persian, or the sassy conduct of the common house cat. For The Love Of Cats was created to celebrate these delightful, furry friends who have enchanted people throughout the ages. Inside you will find wonderful photos of cats doing what they do best - amazing us with their energy and mystifying us with their elegance. And along the way, you'll be reminded of the many experiences you've shared with your favorite, feline friend, and how much you've learned from them about life.

My sister is a cat book reader and as such I often end up with a clowder of cat books to enjoy when she's done. And more times than any it seems that many cat books cannot keep up with the joy yet true mystery of living with a cat.

In For the Love of Cats the reader is told that this will be a delightful photo celebration of life with the feline kind but instead it is a thin disguise for a badly formatted inspirational book. The book starts off with a disjointed rambling on that will I return to in just a moment, followed by a section where they chose to just Caption This Cat Photo and then in the last section where you can post a picture of your puss as well as information about him or her. And finally in the hopes that you were touched by this hot mess they ask you to please send in photos of your own to help illustrate their next book.

The actual formatting of this book provides the reader with a black-and-white photograph of a cat while on the opposite page is a platitude or thought that may or may not reflect the shown puss. As such a cat in a basket may warrant the thought that they bring "a basket of love". At the same time the thoughts aren't organized so at one point you may have an abstract thought about the love of a cat followed by how you can never have too many to self-help then back to love of cat thus the book can be dizzying, especially when you consider the pronouns used flip back and forth from he to she even though the reader doesn't know the sex of either of these kittens.

In the end this book fell flat of a celebration of what it means to live with a cat and even though it had some true thoughts there are way much better books out there to pick-up for either inspiration, cat splurging or both as your wishes may dictate.

It's a short compilation of cat pictures and quotes. It's a cute book that only cat lovers would find interesting. Luckily I am a cat lover and this little pocket book was fun to flip through.
