4 "I saw a future where the three of us could be happy together" stars
There are trigger warnings in this book but none of them mentions cheating when there is an on-page cheating scene in the book. Cheating is a big trigger for me, but I was in a good headspace when I read the book and it didn't affect me as much as it normally would so I still continued reading the book after the scene, but I really dislike how it wasn't mentioned in the trigger warnings, so many other things are mentioned in the trigger warnings and cheating should have been too, especially considering it's a trigger for many readers.
First things first, I have read one MF book in the last 5 years compared to the like 350 MM books I’ve read in that time and I never gravitate towards them, but this is a brother and sister story, and it's the first part of a duology that ends in MMF, which I happen to like, a lot, so I just had to read it. My love of taboo relationships made me want to read this one and I’m glad I did.
Side note, I have been in a reading slump for the past 6 months and I've been reading like 10 pages and then taking a 2 hours break to watch youtube videos because I just cannot get lost in books anymore. I started this book when I took a studying break and I finished it in one sitting, which really doesn't happen often to me anymore, I was so invested in this book.
I will be the first one to admit that not much about this book is a portrayal of a healthy relationship but did I care? No. I still loved it and I had a really good time reading the book. My morals clearly left this chat, but hey, at least I enjoyed the book!
Brief summary Neil and Emmy are brother and sister, all they have is each other and they support each other in everything in life. There is also Jordan, who is Neil's ex but they broke up because Jordan was kissed by someone else and Neil saw it and thinks that Jordan cheated on him. Jordan is a drugs addict who doesn't always make the best choices in life and he's been pining for Neil ever since they broke up. But then, Jordan starts to date Emmy. But they break up when Emmy and Neil go on a cruise together. They get stranded on an island and they start really fantasizing about being with each other and they get together. But they still think about Jordan and want him with them.
First, I loved the setup of the book. Since this is the start of a duology that ends in MMF, I was really happy that all of the relationships between the characters were really well developed and set up from the start. One thing I really dislike in menage books is when I don't feel like all the characters are equal, but I never felt this way in this one. Everyone had a good and strong connection with everyone else and it just made sense as to why they all got together. Also, I just loved the connection between Neil and Emmy, it was so good and I could feel how much they loved each other in all of their action, which really worked for me. And I could feel how much Jordan liked them both through his actions, so I always felt like they were equal and the three of them belonged together. I don't condone the cheating scene and I still didn't enjoy it being there in the first place, but Emmy saw Jordan give a blowjob to Neil when Emmy and Jordan were dating, and since then Emmy fanaticized about being with Neil and Jordan and the fantasies really worked for me. They were super hot and I loved them, so much.
I will say, I didn't like how the cheating was glossed over like it isn't a big thing and like it didn't really matter when it really does, but I must admit I tried to forget it happened in the first place, as it's still a triggering thing for me, so I probably didn't think about it enough for it to really bother me.
Side note, I was so happy we got to see the point of view of the three of them because it really helped me connect with all the characters.
Second, Jordan and Neil had a relationship that was a little toxic and not the best for them and I really enjoyed how they acknowledged that but they still wanted each other. I enjoyed how they knew that it wasn't the best relationship, it really worked for me. But I liked that they were self-aware, they just didn't know how to do anything else because they wanted each other so badly. Everything about this part of the book really worked for me.
Third, I just want to mention the sex scenes and the sexual fantasies they had about each other because damn, I might need a breather after those, holy hell were they hot. I don't have words to say how hot the sex scenes in this book were, they were absolutely fantastic.
Fourth, also, I loved how Neil and Emmy's relationship was handled. It was everything I love in a taboo romance. I love when they acknowledge that what they want to do or are doing is taboo and that they probably shouldn't be doing it, but then they still do it because they cannot stop each other from doing so. That just really works for me and I loved how that was done in this book. I loved how Emmy and Neil kept fantasizing about each other but they knew they could not be together because they are brother and sister, but they still felt that pull towards each other. It was so well done to me.
Fifth, look, Jordan was kind of toxic and he didn't often make the right decisions, but I loved him. I can acknowledge how he wasn't really a good guy and I know that his actions weren't the best, but I always love problematics characters in books and I really enjoyed his character. I did like how he knew that his behaviour was wrong and how he was aware that he wasn't the best man ever, that really made his character for me. He was one of those guys who are always bragging too much about themselves and who think the best of themselves and who make it seem like all the blame is your fault and not his, but you cannot help but love him regardless. And Jordan did try to change and be a better man by the end of the book and I couldn't help but cheer him on.
Sixth, I loved Neil so much. He was so sweet and so caring. Neil was by far my favourite character. I loved how he was so nice but also wasn't afraid to stand up for himself and what he believes in. Neil was ready to do everything to give his sister a good life and I just really loved him.
Seventh, this book made me feel all the emotions. First, it really pulled me in and made me cry, then it made me have a very good time because we were just following Emmy and Neil while they were lost on an island and we got to see what they did to survive, then it made me feel so much pain I thought someone was ripping my heart out of my chest. But I absolutely loved all the feelings this book made me go through.
This book ends on a gentle cliffhanger and i'm so excited to read the second book in this duology because I am fully invested and I need more of this pairing and these characters.
I received a copy of this book, and this is my honest review.
Deviant is a beautiful story written by Z.S. Storm. It's a taboo story that completely captured my heart.
I starts off with some background information about Neil and Emmy. They are siblings and lost both their parents. Emmy ended up in a foster home for awhile. But from the second Neil could get custody of her he took her in and takes care of her.
Neil had a boyfriend called Jordan. He caught him kissing someone else and they broke up. But they still ache and yearn for each other.
Jordan is bi-sexual and after the break-up he starts dating Emmy. Neil says he is okay with it. But it pains him immensely. And while Emmy is happy with Jordan. She is also dealing with feelings for her brother. And after what she witnessed that first night Jordan came over. It just catapulted all three of them in an immense feeling of lust and attraction.
Neil completely lives for Emmy. He is only focused on college and taking care of her. So Emmy arranges a cruise for them to the Bahamas. When they are on the cruise Emmy books a night on an island for the two of them. And when they are supposed to be picked up the next day no one is there.
And that is what truly kick-starts the story. They need to survive. But they can't run away anymore from their feelings. Both long for Jordan. But they also deal with that powerful attraction towards each other.
I absolutely love this story. It is written in such an easy going style, that made it easy to get completely swept away in it. Sometimes the scenes felt a bit factual. But the love scenes are so incredibly HOT. They made me ache and burn in return!
*MINOR SPOILER ALERT* Jordan also deals with a drug addiction in this book. And at a certain point he is clean for 2 weeks. And then it says he is recovered. That is way to quick for a drug addiction. You aren't healed in just two weeks. That bothered me a little bit.
I really loved it. And I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
4 big stars from me for this delicious taboo story!
Deviant is a great complicated forbidden romance between a trio of characters that undoubtedly have chemistry and undeniable chemistry. Our trio includes Emmy, Neil, and Jordan. Neil and Jordan are ex-boyfriends who are struggling with their recent breakup, while Emmy and Jordan are realizing they also have a connection and start a relationship as well. As things progress with Emmy and Jordan, Emmy is also placed in a difficult and challenging position with Neil as their lives are literally put at risk, which changes the dynamics of their relationship significantly.
Overall this was an enjoyable read that left me anxiously anticipating where our trio of characters will go in the next installment in this fascinating story.
The trigger warnings are very clear in the Author's Note at the start of the book.
This is a brother/sister romance, with MF scenes. There is also a third (male) party who is involved with both siblings, so MM and MF. Deviant is the first in a MMF series (book 2 is due out on April 2022). This is a steamy read 🔥🔥🔥.
All of that said, Deviant is also simply a love story, and a story of resilience and strength and finding your safe place in a tough world. It's a story of reconciliation and coming through for the people you care about, without judgement or expectation.
Be warned, this ends on a mild cliffhanger......
If you've read Zee's books before, you know what to expect and you're gonna love Deviant. If she's a new to you author, heed the TWs, then dive in and enjoy the ride 😊.
This is an intriguing and captivating story. Deviant revolves around Emmy, Neil, and Jordan. Emmy is just a young girl, devoted and loved by her brother, Neil, as he takes care of her, while struggling with his own life and problems. She becomes infatuated with Jordan and embarks on a relationship with him, only to have him turn away because of his own demons. Now Jordan, there is a character that you will either love or hate, but he creates emotion nonetheless. The scenes change and Emmy and Neil find themselves in the most unlikely and bizarre situation. This is where the reader should be aware of the warnings. But this cliffhanger, wow, Zee Shine Storm certainly knows how to keep her reader enthralled in what happens next. **Pay attention to the trigger warnings**
I wanted to like it, i really did, but i couldn't. This plot was just point blank stupid, i swear. It made no sense. It was all over the place!!! I love incest and taboo's stories, but this was just not it !
So... Nail and Jordan dated in the past, and there was a misunderstanding he saw Jordan kissing a girl, and they broke up. Jordan never had the chance to tell him what happened they basically had no closure, but they were still in contact. After that, Jordan, out of nowhere and randomly started dating Nial's sister (mind you, she didn't know he dated her brother in the past. From the plot, it's not clear how long they dated and when they did break up) anyway they started dating OFF page, there was zero steps of their relationship on page until one day she brings him home and after she falls asleep Jordan gave a BJ to Nial... she saw it, and since then, she couldn't get it out of her mind and started to get hot thinking about her brother and Jordan together to the point she wanted both of them. One day, when she came on Jordan's dk, she moaned her brothers name... cringe much ?
After that fact that was glanced over, they kept dating with Jordan constantly thinking about Nial and she finds out about her brother and her bf history.. basically, i would've loved this story if there wasn't Emmy in it because all the love was between the guys! She is out of place, i hated her personality so damn much, and i couldn't stand her at all. She was too promiscuous for my liking .
Anyway, she ends up on a cruise with her brother, and they get isolated on an island alone . There, the cringiness went to 💯 for me! Nail is completely gay , his vibes were totally off she was the damn "lead" on their intimacy, which again was cringe af. I drew the line right there. All felt forced on his end, damn he couldn't climax without thinking of Jordan or without her playing with you know what. Come on!
Emmy should leave him and Jordan alone
I hated this book, lol
The idea of this plot was good, but the delivery was the worst thing ever ! There was no development. All was just weird. Also, Jordan was a mess too but that is the minor problem here Lol
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I want to start with saying congratulations to Zee for not ending on an emotion-wrecking cliffhanger that she is known for doing. Thank you for letting my heart stay in tact, I truly do appreciate your sincerity in the situation. With that being said, I was definitely not expecting this story!
“ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ’ꜱ ᴘʟᴇɴᴛʏ ᴏꜰ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ᴛᴏ ɢᴏ ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ.”
The chemistry between every character was overwhelmingly different and satisfying at the same time. Regardless of the contents within these pages, the effort put forth to deliver an extremely sensitive topic was done with class and felt right though it was so wrong. Zee handles this with so much care and passion that you forget the relationship between the two characters.
“ᴛʜᴇ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ ᴅᴏᴇꜱɴ’ᴛ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴋɴᴏᴡ,”
As expected, there was a tremendous amount of hesitancy happening. Which also allowed for the readers to get to know more about the characters past along with the third characters involvement with both characters. I particularly enjoyed getting to know more about each of these characters personally, enhancing the connection for the reader.
“ᴡʜᴏ ᴋɴᴇᴡ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅ ʙᴇ ꜱᴏ ɴᴀᴜɢʜᴛʏ?”
True to Zee form, the smutiness was delivered right away. Which is one of the reasons I love reading her books, she doesn’t ever leave the readers hanging with desire. These scenes were on fire! From the flirtatious banter to the sinful acts, who knew an incestual book could be so tempting and sexual motivating?! Cannot wait for the next addition!!!
This book grips you right from the very start - it’s brilliant! The book does comes with warnings.
I’ll admit that when I read the blurb I was slightly nervous as I have never read a book about incest or a book with three love interest but it is well written and you do not become lost in the story.
The sex scenes are filthy hot 🥵 and their is a lot of that going on!
Emmy, Jordan & Neil deliver a story of three people who are all in love with each other.
I was expecting a story of a guy perving on his sister and it being really cringy but that is not what happens at all.
If your like taboo stories, complicated feelings, lots of filthy sex scenes then this is defiantly one for you
It's not going to be for everyone, read the trigger warnings. But for those that excel in the face of warnings, this is taboo romance at it's finest.
Zee has a way of writing that immerses the reader fully into story. It's fundamently a love story, yes where lines are blurred but a love story nonetheless. I've enjoyed every moment of Emmy, Neil and Jordan.
It's an easy to read taboo romance with bonus mm that grips you from the very beginning and an ending that makes you want to be invested in book 2 and how their relationships unfold.
Well done to Zee for exploring a New Taboo. For them to be put in an impossible situation, whilst already having thought's on one side. No one knows what being trapped on a deserted Island would do to them, Unless they have been put in that position themselves. Jordan completes them to be the perfect trio. With each of them bringing something different to the table. Itching for Second part now.
This book brought out all emotions and feels possible . The forbidden romance between siblings is so taboo but the way this book was written you forgot the actual reality of it. I loved Emmy and her desire of loving her brother not just in sibling kind of way. The emotions and feelings were so much stronger then they should be allowed and that was what made that story so much more than just a a romance novel.
Left with a cliffhanger that was not overwhelming was the perfect way of ending and I can’t wait to read more and see where all three characters end up.
Review of Deviant by Z.S. Storm * * * * * A taboo romance that comes with a blossoming love, expansion of sexuality, growth and maturity against people who judge your character, and acceptance.
Emmy and Neil were always supportive siblings, nothing beyond brother and sisterly affection came until Emmy witnessed a surprise between her brother and boyfriend Jordan. Indecent and erotic images fill her head, and her feelings towards her brother morph into more. Neil is completely oblivious, as he is more focused on paying the bills and passing school...and trying not to sleep with his ex aka his sister's boyfriend. When Emmy decides to take him away to relax on an island, it takes a storm to set things in motion that would change their lives forever. Jordan is a wreck. Self made of course. Hurting the people in his life and facing judgement from others is constant, but he cannot give up on either Neil and Emmy. Why they go missing, he will do all he can to bring them back.
Was not prepared for this read, but it provided the taboo kick I needed. Mostly focused around MM and MF actions, furthermore family relations and how it not only is seen by others but the people who are involved. Emmy is accepting of her feelings, knowing what she feels towards Neil is real. She puts her heart on the line, and overtime, grows to know that nothing is all sunshine. Neil is constantly in a state of fear and stress, and breaking the hearts of those around him which inturn starts to take further affect on his own heart. Jordan is just plain not giving a hoot about who is banging who. He starts to accept himself overtime that he is a person that is open to love, and that needs to find people who understand him. We are also introduced to Nick, who has his own issues and broken heart. Not a HEA exactly but it has left room for growth towards the characters and has you wonder what happens to them.
Zee has written an immersive and emotive taboo romance. Your heart become inevitably linked to each characters agony and you're consumed by their need for happiness and validation.
Emmy is such a bright light in an unbelievably troubled world that she lives in with her older brother Neil. She wants to bring joy and happiness to their life and Jordans her boyfriend. She learns hidden depths to both her brothers and her boyfriends relationship and instead of being upset by it she embraces it instantly and it starts the wheels turning in her heart and mind. The growth of her love for Neil begins long before they end up stranded and what she feels for him isn't a product of their isolation is a product of her love for him.
Neil is a bleeding heart who only wants to take care of Emmy in everyday possible. He is heartbroken when he is faced with her with the love of his life, the one he ended by could never stop loving. It breaks him in ways he wasn't expecting, even if he is drawn to Jordan like a moth to a flame. His bond and love for Emmy runs deeper then he ever realised and when they're stranded he can no longer fight his feelings, no matter how much his mind fights him.
Jordan is the rich, broken playboyburies rries his emotional pain under a fog of drugs. He is terrified of rejection but ultimately his erratic behaviour drives everyone away who he tries to cling to.
There is far more than just a taboo relationship here, it's an exploration into love. A battle of the heart and mind, when lines are blurred and love reins free happiness is possible but it was all to fleeting for everyone. This book ends at an emotional yet determined point, will Jordans love us love philosophy be enough to unite them all?
I could not put this book down!!! I can’t wait for part 2!!! I need these books in my life!!! Read the trigger warnings, this book is definitely it for everyone but if you like this genre in books then your going to eat this book up!!! Storyline ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I so wanted to like Deviant by Z.S. Storm since I love dark, and I love taboo. But this story was all over the place with little character development and nonexistent plot.
