"Chernobyl Heart" chronicles the events of 26 April 1986 and it's aftermath when "Reactor No. 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear processing plant exploded, releasing radiation 90 to 150 times greater than that released by the Hiroshima bomb."
In 1991 the author became the founder of Chernobyly Children's Project International, and has since devoted herself to helping the survivors of this cataclysmic event.
She includes many stories of the effects on the land, the people and the natural environment. However, the stories of the children and their suffering is central to this book which includes many photographs that will tug at your heartstrings, and move you to tears.
Highly recommended.
