Usually, I spend ten to fifteen days reading a book. I read Bloodsong in two nights. If you wanted, this could be enough to recommend the book to you. But let's try to go into more details, starting from the plot. Quinn has just started her singing career but fate, it seems, has other plans. Because the sexy and mysterious stranger who comes to watch her sing immediately grabs her eye and stirs all her wildest fantasies. Except Matteo has deep secrets - a whole new world of vampires is opened up to her. And she's his new obsession. He wants to taste her, she wants the thrill of his embrace. In the end, their love could consume. This super captivating, steamy story is full of twists and turns and never loses your interest.
I loved how Serra Rose has portrayed vampires: both Matteo and Carlos felt so real and supernatural at the same time, they felt so realistic I don’t know how to explain it. Their friendship made me cry on several occasions, I really hope to continue seeing them together in the second book.
This book was extremely addictive and difficult to put down, and the main reason is most likely our male main character Matteo, literally the perfect man, the standard. I loved how he took care of Quinn right from the start, without ever leaving her and always remaining by her side no matter what. Quinn, who immediately trusted Matteo, their mutual feeling was so pure and intense that I was moved.

I had the pleasure of receiving this book as an ARC, and I am absolutely addicted!!!! This book had everything you could want to read! Spice, an incredible story, incredible characters, and twists!

Quinn and Matteo are absolutely addicting main characters, and I loved reading about them and going through the motions of everything they were and went through together.

I loved Carlos and everything he was and stood for and glad he was pretty present throughout the whole book! I loved Mia and Lilith and their connection to Quinn, I love me a good girl rock band!

I also absolutely love the fact that this book is set in Australia! As an Australian, it's always refreshing to know where the places are that are talked about and our mannerisms being used!

I would definitely recommend this ridiculous addictive book to anyone who loves vampire romances and vampires in general!

If you are looking for a sexy, bloody vampire adventure, this book checks those boxes.

Matteo is an interesting MMC. He’s protective, dangerous, struggling with his feral nature, and he paints to keep himself under control and to remind himself of his humanity.

Quinn is a singer who just wants to make it big with her band. She loves her friends and they are the most important things to her besides music. She doesn’t want to be a vampire and she’s wary of Matteo and his world.

I liked the main characters and their love story, but I enjoyed the side characters a lot more. Quinn’s best friends and bandmates Mia and Lilith (who are also in a relationship with each other) were the absolute best and I was honestly a little upset with how their story ended. The author did say she will be writing their story as another book, so it isn’t over, but I wish there had been more for them because they deserved everything.

Overall I enjoyed this book and the writing style is great and very easy to get into. I did think there were some aspects of the plot in the beginning that went on a bit longer than I thought necessary and there is a MMF scene at the end that I would have liked better if the characters had more chemistry beforehand. But those were minor details and if you love spice and vampires, you will enjoy this book.

Thank you to Serra Rose for giving me this ARC.

Vampire captured by Song

Quinn and her band have finally come back together after her last relationship tried to end her dream. As they are getting back into everything they get a spot at a local bar. When a stranger wonders in to listen Quinn finds herself captivated by the stranger.

Matteo is a very old vampire who struggles with impulse control due to the way he was changed. He spent a long time as nothing but a terror and he still struggles. When he finds himself called into a bar by a singer something is forever changed and he wants more of her.

Quinn is about to learn a lot about a world she thought was only in books. Can she accept Matteo for who and what he is? Where will the things she learns lead her?

This book does start a bit slow but once it picks up it doesn't slow down. Buckle up because there is no telling who you can trust or who might turn on you.

I can tell you I was absolutely shocked by some of the outcomes in this book. I can't wait to see what is going to happen in the next book.

I love it when I find a book based in Australia. And this one was different from all the rest! Vampires are something an either love reading or I just don’t. I found Bloodsong a bit slow to get into but once I did I found myself wanting to read just one more chapter. I just knew something wasn’t right but I couldn’t put my finger on it until nearly the end. I did enjoy the twists and turns towards the end.

I am intrigued to read the story for Carlos next.

A vampire story based in Australia had me so excited to read this book. The start was slow and then it picked up halfway through. I feel like it was a lot longer than it needed to be but I really enjoyed the story line.

This book was great from start to finish! I devoured it in a matter of hours. I loved the Australian setting, it's nice to feel like I can relate to the places and mannerisms! The Vegemite part made me laugh out loud 😂 (IYKYK). I truly wasn't sure how this book was going to end, so I'm interested to see where the series goes, and read the stories of the side characters we got to know!

I. Loved. This. Book! I was lucky enough to receive this book as an ARC and I absolutely DEVOURED it in less than 2 days (like Matteo devoured Quinn). I couldn’t put it down! Was such a fun and easy read.

It was so refreshing to read a book set in Australia with plenty of Aussie slang and humour. It made me giggle quite a bit. Also having roots in Venice really drew me in being one of my favourite cities in the world. With The Phantom of the Opera vibes and a spicy Damon Salvatore-type MMC, I’m sure you’ll want to devour this too.

I cannot wait to see where the rest of this series goes!!

I was super lucky to have been on the Beta team for Bloodsong. I had high hopes for this one after loving The Shadow Within and it absolutely smashed all of my expectations out of the park.

This. Was. Phenomenal. I absolutely devoured this in 3 days. This is such a unique personification of vampires and everything we believe to be true. There has been no shying away from their nature, and while at times dark, it is realistic. They are not romanticised, rather seeing a different side to them that is not often shown to us.

This was an absolute rollercoaster of a plot, the characters were written perfectly and their interactions were so on point.

The darkness was balanced out so well with moments of classic Aussie humour, a few sneaky Aussie treats making appearances, and genuine banter.

Everything about this was brilliant. I am so excited for the rest of this series. If you want a unique vampire romance, with Phantom of the Opera vibes, you’ll want to check this one out!

RATING: 3.5 stars

I will admit, I considered DNFing at the 30% point of the novel. The writing style was very much not my speed, and there were little things that were bothering me along the way: an info-dumpy second page; Quinn's lack of emotion in regards to traumatic events; unbelievable scenarios that had me drawn out of the narrative. I actually came to Goodreads to see what other people were saying, to decide if I wanted to continue or not. I saw a spoiler someone had posted and decided it was interesting enough for me to want to keep going, so I did.

And I’m glad, because this novel really did have its moments. I’ll be straight and admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of Quinn or Matteo (who got to a point where I decided he was an idiot), but I found I liked a lot of the side characters. Lilith and Mia are the friends everybody needs in their life. Carlos wasn’t great in the beginning, but I grew to love him as his and Quinn’s relationship developed, and I ended the novel with him being top of my list of favourites.

Quinn is very blasé to...everything. She sees a vampire and accepts their existence without much debate; she visits her sister's grave, sees her as a ghost, and moves on like it's completely normal to be conversing with your year-dead sibling. This is one of the main things that threw me out of the book. I wanted to see her shock, her turmoil, her struggling to come to terms with the fact that ghosts and monsters are real, and her life is fast becoming an episode of Supernatural. The fact that we got almost none of this is what throws me.

Action wise, this book is great. So if you prefer your reads fast-paced and you don’t want to dwell in the characters’ heads too much, this is definitely your kind of read. Likewise, if you were a Twilight fan growing up, this novel is definitely for you. Vampires? Check. Climbing the urban jungle with the girl on his back? Check. Saving her from a mugger and watching her while she sleeps? Check and check.

Overall, this book wasn’t really for me — but judging by the mountain of other positive reviews, it could definitely be for you.

I really enjoyed this book. I haven't read many books around vampires since twilight, and I have only really started getting into more open door spice scene books along the dark romance vibe.

I did read this book around the time it came out, but I wasn't actively writing reviews then, and with the second book on the series ready for release in Feb, I thought I had better refresh my memory.

I missed so much in my first reading, I didn't pick up on those small foreshadowing moments throughout. The main one was early in the book, when he walks into the venue her band is playing at.

I clicked right away with the FMC Quinn, she seems to share a lot of personality traits with me. I also loved the dynamics of her with her two besties, everyone should have those ride or die besties. I connected more with Mia than Lillith, but when you read the book, you'll see why.

The MMC was definitely a walking red flag, but definitely a red flag that I ignored and would happily ignore. I enjoyed reading about his connection with his "best" friend Carlos. I really wanted to know. ore about Carlos during my first read, nothing changed about that on my second and I'm really looking forward to reading more about him in Consumed.

The story started off a little slow, but definitely picked up and I ended up smashing out the final 300 pages in a 3 hour sitting. While I had an idea of what was going to happen, and of course it did, I was NOT prepared for what happened AFTER the event happened. I cried..... alot.

Now, the spice. It didn't seem like a slow burn, more like a medium burn, but wow, when the spice was spicing... I was feeling. I quite enjoyed those scenes, there were no ick descriptions that I have been finding lately.

The vampires are unapologetically *real* vampires. There's tons of blood drinking, there's killing (a lot of it), and there's violence. I love when a vampire book doesn't make them wimpy. Yes, the MMC vampire is usually trying to be a good boy, but he can't always be and that's okay with me.

I dislike the need for the FMC to spend half the book terrified of the MMC because he's a vampire, but I think that's more my own character flaw. If I met a monster I'd jump his bones, not run away like a sensible person, lol.

Their relationship, once it finally gets going, is sweet and perfect. There's funny banter between the main characters and with other side characters that make me giggle in a few places. The spicy scenes are hot and just what I want to read between a vampire and his lover.

I ARC read this one, and look forward to the second book!

First off, I just want to say that this book put me through an absolute rollercoaster of emotion! I genuinely enjoyed reading it so much 🥲

Meet Matteo, a six hundred year old vampire artist who one night while on a hunt with his friend, Carlos, is inexplicably drawn to a bar. In this bar, we meet Quinn, an amazing singer who is on stage with her band mates, Mia and Lilith. Cue instant attraction ☺️

Matteo and Quinn - what can I say? I fell in love with these two.
Quinn is one badass FMC and Matteo is an MMC I couldn't help but adore. Their story is definitely a slow burn but one I truly enjoyed. Together, they have a connection that is undeniable and inescapable that unfolds later in the book (that part is honestly one of my favourite moments of the book)

Mia and Lil were the hype girls we all need for majority of the story, how that all panned out honestly shattered me but how it was left off for them and knowing that their continuation is coming intrigues me, I can't WAIT to see their story unfold.

Now Carlos, how do I put this? Carlos was someone I loved to hate - mostly for the way he treated humans BUT I also loved him for how fiercely loyal he is to Matteo and honestly, he redeemed himself in the end 🥰 so I can't wait to see his story play out, either!

Open door scenes, it's not HEAVILY spiced but what is there, is good ☺️

- this book is so good! Just can't stop reading it
- I love how Serra describe the characters " Dan who is attractive with a lean body, brown eyes, sandy blonde hair, and a goatee . His grin was always one of mischief, and he works in the sum as evident in his tan "
- Serra describe Quinns best friend Lilth 's tattoos she got." Lilth's arms were covered . A small crossbow on her wrist , with music notes and lyrics twisted around her arm from our first song that we'd recorded together. Above that, an armband of roses intertwined with thorns. The other arm had the firstline of the llad on her forearm, Roman helmet on her shoulder and a movie character around her arm above her elbow."
-I love the part were Serra describe the chocolate cake that was heated and covered in chocolate sauce with a dallop of icecream
- at the end of chapter 14: I love one sentence where it said " your feral half is posseive as you are, is a good sign"
- I love the nickname "little cantante"
- I love  Quinn and Mateo relationship
- it is soo good. Honestly can't wait for book 2 to be released.
- I absolutely  love this story so much!

I didn't know what to expect going into this book. A vampire. A singer. Australia. OK, I thought, let's see how this goes.
Well! After a little bit of a slow start setting up the story, I was hooked. We have Quinn Bailey, 29, lead singer of a band with her two besties (who are also an adorably loved up FF couple). They play in a bar every Friday night in Melbourne, hoping to making it big. One night, the sound of her singing entices Matteo Barone into the bar. "Mr Tall, Dark and Mysterious" is enamored with Quinn, who is drawn to him as well, but after coming out of an emotionally abusive relationship, she's cautious of men. Her friends Mia and Lilith are encouraging however, and she slowly begins to warm to the handsome Italian artist... and then she finds out he's a Vampire - and a slightly feral one at that. Matteo has always struggled to control his bloodlust, ever since he was turned back in Venice centuries ago.
There's some ups and downs, delicious spice, lots of biting, good side characters and some twists and turns. All up, this is a good, easy to follow, paranormal romance, set down under with some Aussie/Kiwi lingo for good measure. A refreshing vampire read.

I had the amazing opportunity of receiving this ARC from the author and I was intrigued the moment I began reading!

The characters were well written and very relatable. I loved the relationship between Mateo and Quinn and the build up with their romance. The spice and the sexual tension between them was perfect! 😍

I also loved the story behind vampires in this book and the idea of vampire hunters. What really moved me was Mateo’s story arc and his struggle with being in control. He wasn’t perfect and I loved that about him! And his possessiveness when it came to Quinn? Always love that in MMCs!

I really liked Carlos’ character too and am excited for his story in book 2!

The ending was bittersweet in my opinion. What happened made me cry, especially with Quinn and her friends. It definitely wasn’t what I expected and a tragic ending to their story. I just hope Lilith finds the happy ending she deserves. I wish Mia was alive though, her death was very surprising and tragic. 🥺

Matteo and Quinn had my attention right from the get-go.

This book was an incredible experience of vampire romance that calls to mind the likes of Damon Salvatore, Spike and my favourite rendition of Dracula - the broody, bloodthirsty but loving Dracula of 'Dracula Untold', played by Luke Evans.

The FMC is a force to be reckoned with and I absolutely adored the friend group. The MMC's circle also introduced some interesting side characters and I can't wait to see more of them in the upcoming books in this Serra Rose series.

From start to finish, this book had me flipping pages, excited for the next part. The tension was palpable, the whirlwind romance riveting and the darkest moments absolutely tear-jerking. As always, Serra does nothing short of impressing me and I can't wait for more.

As an Australian resident and lover of vampire fiction, I was enticed by the premise of Bloodsong. While it did not disappoint, I found myself struggling to connect with (and at times even like) Quinn and Matteo as characters. I haven’t been able to pinpoint exactly why that is.

With that being said, the plot of the novel had me absolutely hooked. I absolutely loved the storyline and I really enjoyed reading a story like this that takes place somewhere other than America and England. The use of Te Reo and Aussie slang really gives the characters an authentic vibe.

Just wow! I don’t normally read books relating to vampires, but I have been converted after reading Bloodsong. I received this book as an arc and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read it. A fantastic storyline set in Melbourne, Australia. Quinn meets Matteo whilst she is preforming in her band in a bar, he is drawn to the sound of her voice and she loves his irresistible Italian accent. There’s romance, lots of spice, a collision of different worlds and twists and secrets along the way. I definitely cannot wait until I can get to read the rest of this series.

If you were only allowed to read one book EVER then THIS would be a great one to chose! Serra Rose is an incredible writer; she grabbed my attention and I was under her thrall, throughout. Matteo and Quinn were both hypnotic. The attraction between them was instant, as was mine to them. Serra Rose’s plot pulled me along at a pace and was pleasingly relentless - Vampires, Hunters, spice and Quinn’s surprise background, all held me spellbound. I had to keep reading but was desperate for the story not to end. I’m so happy more is promised!

Damn I love Mateo!

The story is captivating. Quinn, a singer meets a mysterious man Mateo who happened to be a vampire and his aura simply attracts her. I look forward to starting to read Consumed.

The characters are well writen as well the plot itself is amazing. It's very easy to read. It is pretty dark, lots of bloodlust and smut. Damn loved the smut.

I simply lack words to explain my emotions but this book is really underhyped and should be hyped even more.

It a quick read, so give it a chance.

I couldn't put it down. Finished the book in 3 days.

Quinn was such an easy to love character in the beginning, and Matteo deliciously devine irresistible creature. All in all, it was a decent read that consistently kept me interested with its 3.5/5 🌶 (it's heavy, but the plot takes the focus often). I did get this book free during stuff your Kindle weekend, and when I can, I will definitely continue on with the series.

Serra Rose, in the one book I've read by her, proves she's not afraid to write stubborn women, kill of main characters, and make you want more.

Thank you to Serra Rose for allowing me to read a copy of this book. This book was so good, and it had me in a chokehold from the beginning to the very end. It was a tad dark, but it was eerie enough that it's going to be a perfect read for the spooky season. And the romance was just chef's kiss. I highly recommend that you read this if you're looking for an eerie, spooky romance for the spooky season.

Dark but balanced so well, the romance was great and the plot had me on a journey. Some Aussie moments throughout the book which blended beautifully.

This book had me hooked from the beginning and I did not see a few things coming which I loved. Looking for a great vampire book then you definitely need to read this.

3.5 so round up

I really wasn't sure what to expect going into this other than it was a vampire book with a singer 🤣

This book is super easy to read which made me want to keep going and going. The story progresses well and you get plenty of tension between to main characters.

There are some unexpected twists and some lovable side characters one of which is going to be the MMC in the next book.

Nice fun easy read by an Aussie author!

As someone new to reading the fantasy genre, this was a little darker than what I've read so far. But I was drawn in and committed to Matteo and Quinn's love story. I was initially frustrated and confused why Quinn was so quickly ok with Matteo being a vampire, so was really happy when this was explained later in their story. Read this in only a couple of days. Serra's writing style is very compelling and drew me in. I also LOVED the fact it was set in Australia 🥰 If you love vampires, spice, romance and Aussie vibes, you'll love this one. Excited to read her new release Cursed.
