A Grave Undertaking: Adventures in a Haunted Funeral Home

Rate this book
When the Blumberg family left the big city behind to live in a rural Canadian funeral home, nobody was surprised when it turned out to be haunted. Plenty of things went bump in the night during the filming of their smash hit reality TV show. But when the cameras stopped rolling and the film crews left, the paranormal activity ramped up to the next level.

Disembodied voices call out in the middle of the night. Phantom footsteps pace across creaking floorboards. This is a house with moods. Sometimes that mood is playful -- and sometimes, it is downright sinister. For the Blumbergs, living with ghosts is just business as usual...but for the ghost hunters they're about to welcome into their home, what follows will be a rollerghoster ride they'll never forget.

Join author Richard Estep (TV's "Haunted Hospitals," "Paranormal 911," and "Paranormal Revenge") and a team of paranormal investigators as they attempt to uncover the truth behind this most macabre and magnificent haunted home.

I'm a 48-year-old child who has no plans to ever actually grow up.

I make my living as a paramedic, clinical educator, for a busy hospital system and work as a street medic in a 911 system.

In my free time, I serve as the director of the Boulder County Paranormal Research Society, and investigate claims of haunted properties, people, and objects on both sides of the Atlantic. I love to read, particularly SF/Fantasy, history and historical fiction, the paranormal, and basically anything that piques my interest. I appear on the TV shows Haunted Hospitals, Paranormal 911, Paranormal Night Shift, Haunted Case Files, and several others.

I am an avid video gamer, table-top gamer, and love to build Lego. My wife and I are the proud humans of five adopted rescue cats and one smelly but adorable dog.

Fresh to Death

As you’ll probably be able to tell I clearly I loved this book. I write this trying to stay as spoiler free, while still dropping hints, as possible. The dad jokes were worth the price alone for the mixture of laughs, groans and maybe a snort or two they elicited. If you partake in adult beverages there is a plethora of drinks for you to check out at your leisure. I don’t drink, but if I did I’m fairly certain they’d knock my socks off. Kind of have my eyes on a couple to try and make a virgin version of.

The group of people mentioned in this book are the best bunch of weirdos, new, old, and REALLY old. As always Richard knocks it out of the park. The Blumberg’s are family, and home goals! I really enjoyed watching We Bought A Funeral Home. It actually wasn’t until after I saw John and Jessica’s pictures from the house on this trip with Richard, Brad and Tim that I watched it since we don’t have Discovery. With Richard in the house I knew a book was on the way and I have been chomping at the bit to read it.

I have basically all of Richard’s books. Bringing them all to Michigan Paracon for him to sign was a comedy act all its own. One of the things that keeps me coming back time and time again is his writing style. The way he writes, you feel like you’re right there watching everything go down. Every creak, beep and stomach gurgle is right there in front of your eyes (and ears if you want it.) Richard keep it away from me or I’m totally coming for that Ouija board! I’m so jealous!

Read this book! You won’t regret the adventure!

Richard always knocks it out of the park with his books & this one is no exception. Investigating a haunted funeral home in Canada that the Blumberg family bought & moved into. The family seems absolutely lovely & fun to be around. Have to say my favorite part happens to mention Johnny Houser & Josh Heard in a paragraph on page 174. Knowing both of these guys that made me laugh. As I always say if you enjoy ghost hunting & paranormal investigations…if you’re a believer or a skeptic; pick up one of Richard’s books. He puts his heart & soul into the research and each & every one show the passion he has. Looking forward to being at an event tomorrow with Richard & the Blumberg family at another haunted location, Malvern Manor, in Iowa tomorrow. Got this one finished just in time.

Really happy to have found this book on Kindle!!

I saw that short series about We Bought a Funeral Home and it was immensely interesting. I enjoyed it very much!! I, too, am hoping for another season! I always enjoy Richard's books. With the history he gathers and the interesting investigations the books are my favorite paranormal documentary books and he is most definitely my favorite author for this kind of book. Thank you, Mr. Estep, for all your phenomenal books and I'm definitely looking forward to more great writings!!!!!

I love the way Richard Estep writes and I loved the show so I knew that this would be a winner of a book.
It is always nice to learn new ways to investigate and Richard will bring that to the table.
An added plus you get some awesome recipes for cocktails.
The Blumberg family seem so down to earth. They are the type of people that you would want to hang out with. Then you Bring in Tenny and Jess into the investigation that brings in a new kind of weirdness in a good way.
Get the book!
