The ICD-10-PCS guidelines are confusing! This book describes the guidelines in clear, plain English and places them into tables for easy comparison, such as the comparing the different types of flaps. Also included are decision trees to help the reader select the correct root operation and approach.
For the Medical and Surgical Section, each body system is described, including guidelines specific to that body system, and examples of coding procedures. At the end of each section is a list of suggested notes to write directly in the ICD-10-PCS book to help remember the guidelines.
Finally, the book includes a PCS dictionary that defines confusing terms, such as stereoelectroencephalographic radiofrequency ablation, and a self-quiz on the seven characters used to build a code.
The author is a retired coding teacher. The tables and decision-trees were developed to help her students and others understand the complicated and confusing world of medical coding.
