Sometimes, even heroes need saving…

Jessie

They say your past defines you.
My past was stolen and locked inside a cage, molding me into a ghost of who I once was.
But when a stranger posing as a cop took shelter in my sanctuary from the storm, I gave him what little I had, and in return, he gave me his body, his strength, and his warmth.
They call him Phoenix; a warrior who is both hero and villain. But I soon learned that his wings are tied by his own traumatic past.
So, in the end, it was up to me to decide if I could be the hero of our story.
Am I strong enough to free the Phoenix from the flames?

Phoenix

That’s not my real name; it’s a myth built from a tragic tale.
Phoenix from the ashes
Except I don’t believe I ever escaped the fire that destroyed my childhood. So, I decided to earn that name by committing evil deeds.
I was meant to kill her.
Instead, I invited her inside of me, and showed her who the real Phoenix is.
Will she choose to save me? Or will she run from the monster I’ve become?

You'd think being a writer, I would find this an easy feat, but talking about myself always leaves me a little stumped. So, I beg for your forgiveness when I attempt to give you a little bit of waffle about me. I'm a mother, wife and primary school teacher, who has found a passion for reading and writing. It's become so addictive I no longer watch TV, instead I get lost in alternative realities and frequently lie awake in the middle of the night with random ideas for what to put my characters through next. Music is often my muse but I also love to include real life experiences in my books. I want people to be able to relate to my characters and to know that they're not the only ones to go through certain difficulties, anxieties or embarrassing situations. I like to think my stories are different from one another, some being romantic comedies whilst others are full of suspense. Hopefully you agree and will enjoy getting lost inside of my head for a while. My serving suggestion is to indulge with a side dish of something sweet, something comfy and where possible, a golden retriever to curl up next to.

Jessie is kind and gentle. She is living a reclusive lifestyle, still reeling from her past. While she might be uncomfortable with strangers, she is strong and braves whatever comes at her. We see her open up more as the story progresses.

Phoenix broods and struggles with the loss of his parents and his namesake but has proven to be a caring older brother and someone with deep emotions even if he doesn’t always want to dig deep. He is a ruthless protector, a talented guitarist and while he has a temper, we see he has a lot of self control.

These two! Their meeting is not by chance definitely fateful, and they find comfort in each other’s presence. Phoenix does what he can to ensure Jessie feels safe and encourages her to face her demons at her own pace. He enjoys her company and the softness she brings out in him. Meanwhile, Phoenix becomes the rock that Jessie needs to overcome her trauma and in turn, she also helps him feel more complete and calm from his own trauma. They communicate and are patient with one another, and you can see just how much they support the other. This was definitely a good pairing!

Jake deserves a special shoutout here. He someone is another main character here as he also has gone through much struggle but is the one who helps our main couple over the course of the story. I won’t say more to avoid spoilers, but he is definitely a character you want to learn more about with his determination, cinnamon roll attitude, and hidden strength. I also said this in Lou’s book, but I think Javier could have a story to be explored too as he also rises to the occasion during crucial times.

The story itself is heartbreaking at times as we dig into the past of Phoenix, Jessie, Jake and Phoenix’s parents. But there is also much joy when we see Phoenix and Lou’s interactions, Phoenix and Jessie’s relationship, and the love that shines against the odds. There are also feelings of hope amidst the pain and loss. Lastly, I think the pacing was spot on and twists we see were definitely shocking. The author has us at the edge of our seat, praying our characters get their HEA, and had me finishing this story in one sitting.

Overall, this was an engaging read!.

Phoenix And Dragon

As always, this author's story captivated me from the very beginning. I love her writing style, her dark imagery, the emotional whirlwind and the fact that you empathise with characters you would loathe and avoid in reality. The plot is touching, has unexpected twists and turns and is full of angst, suspense, danger and steam.
I already knew Phoenix from the previous book in the series and I was really looking forward to his story. Both protagonists are very likeable and have a great chemistry. Please note that if you are triggered by kidnapping, violence and drug abuse, this might not be the book for you.

I do believe that the book can be read as a standalone, but readers of the previous book will certainly have a different perspective and expectation of the events in this book.
I really hope that Jake and Javier will get their own stories in the future, they also deserve to be redeemed and reawakened.
The story is written in present tense and dual FOV and has some flashbacks to the past.

Jessie was just a child when she was kidnapped by a psychopath and locked in the basement for six years. Since her escape, she can no longer lead a normal life and panics when she has to leave the house.

As a child, Warren „Phoenix“ Flynn had to watch his beloved mother die in a fire that destroyed their home, unable to rescue her alongside his sister Lou. He then raised his little sister, became a contracted killer, managed his father's bar and swore revenge on his mother's murderer.

When Phoenix is assigned to kill Jess, he is unable to do so. Instead, he spends a passionate night with her and kidnaps her to protect her from further murder attempts. Strangely, Phoenix is the only person Jess feels safe with and he soon realizes that she could be the savior for his dark soul…

A captivating and dark romance about two lost souls who save each other that I am very happy to recommend.

When Jessie opened her door to a stranger on that dark and stormy night, it felt like a metaphor of the journey to come. Jessie has been a prisoner, in one way or another, for more than half her life and although she was still breathing, she had long since retreated into a numbing cocoon without any real life. Phoenix’s arrival was a catalyst, a spark that made her feel something more than numbness for the first time in years and although his real reason for knocking on her door was far from reassuring, she felt strangely safe with this intimidating man. Phoenix, a man haunted by his own demons, became the light that gently drew Jessie out of her darkness. I loved the way he nurtured her back to life, with a patience that was as fierce as it was tender. Never rushing her, always letting her find her own way, he embodied the kind of quiet strength that Jessie desperately needed. And Jessie—so much stronger and braver than she ever believed herself to be—began to reclaim the pieces of her shattered self. Their journey is not without its emotional scars, but there’s a beauty in the way they find solace in one another, becoming each other’s port in the storm. As their connection deepens, it’s impossible not to root for them as they find peace, one small step at a time. The story is enriched by a cast of side characters who leave a lasting impression, particularly Jake and Phoenix’s sister, Lou. While Lou’s journey was explored in the previous book, Jake’s role in Jessie’s harrowing ordeal was pivotal, and I’d love to see where life takes him after bidding farewell to Phoenix and Jessie. This is a powerful, emotionally charged novel—one that wrings you dry but ultimately leaves you with a profound sense of hope. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest of storms, there’s a chance to find light, and perhaps, even a way home.

Interesting, complex characters, both broken with trauma from their childhoods shaping their current lives, tainting every living moment.
In this well written story, you'll be dragged into the circumstances of both their lives and how they end up together, striving to save each other as their growing love saves themselves. Or vice versa...
Warren, or Phoenix as he is commonly known, saved his young sister from a burning building as a child (Louisa from Hunter, the second book in this series), but the trauma of losing his mother and the pain that caused his father spread a constant dark cloud over his entire existence. His chosen side hustle as an assassin brings Niamh, or Jess as she's known when he meets her, into his life.
Jess was kidnapped at 11 years old and held against her will for 6 years before finally escaping, but while she may have escaped captivity, she never really escaped that basement. Held with her was Jake, whose story is surprisingly twisted around both Warren and Jess’s and has tentacles reaching back into the past. An intriguing plot point that binds them all together even more tightly.
That these two find a happy ending is a relief after the emotion and the heartbreak and the gut-wrenching trauma we experience with them as their stories are individually and collectively told.
It's a story that is not easy to read but will hold you captive as they strive towards healing and love to fulfil their lives.
I'm hoping Jake gets his own story before Ms. Scott puts this series to bed, I think he deserves it.

“I’m damaged, Jess,” he says, even though he’s still smiling, for he already knows what I’m going to say next. “So am I,” I reply without smiling, “but you make me feel again.”

I believe every great book has a quote that hooks you, and this one did just that for me.

Another fantastic novel by Scott. I was really excited to dive into Phoenix’s story after encountering him in the previous books. The way the book opens and how the characters meet is simply brilliant! The so-called chance encounter that leads to a blend of spice and suspense was perfect and hooked me right away.

Phoenix’s story is heartbreaking—witnessing the loss of his parents left him deeply scarred. Despite being a big, strong man, he has a heartfelt emotional side that made me eager to see him save the main character.

But it was Jessie’s backstory that truly broke me. The things she survived as a child are unimaginable. I can’t say more or I will spoil it.

If you’re looking for a romance with deep emotional scars, this is the book for you. Another great read, and I can’t wait to see what Scott writes next.

Sometimes, even heroes need saving…...

I do love the authors writing. She really knows how to write an emotional, heart tugging, suspenseful read that keeps you turning each page in anticipation.

I absolutely adored Phoenix the beautiful broken beast of a man, who is so intimidating and brutish to keep everyone at arms length. He's suffered so much rrauma so young and all he needs is someone to save him and love him.

Jessie aka Niamh has also been through trauma, no child should ever go through. It leaves her terrified of the world and one stormy night she takes pity on a stranger stranded near her home who knocked on her door for help. Little did she know he's there for her.....

I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire Reawakened series and highly recommend you check put this authors books.

Jessie has become a recluse in her parent's home, broken after suffering a trauma in her childhood. She gives shelter in a storm to a man she believes is a cop but learns the truth in the morning. In order to save her life, he has to kidnap her.
Broken from trauma of his own, Phoenix is drawn to her. Something about Jessie soothes his demons and makes him want to be a better man. Maybe they can have a future together by healing their pasts.
I like this author's writing style. She has complicated characters that make you feel all the emotion, attraction, and angst. The balance of romance and suspense was just right and the twist that shows the connection was mind blowing. This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

I loved Phoenix and Jessie's story...such a great book!! I was totally captivated from the beginning and didn't stop till I finished that last page. Well developed story and characters. Their world and activities well detailed..you actually can feel the adrenaline pumping, and action scenes felt real, as well as emotionally charged..chemistry was off the charts..both of their souls broken and damaged..yet together they seemed to fit. Jessie has a way to show Phoenix different ways to look at things. Loved this series!!! You will too 💖

Third installment. This time Phoenix's story. Phoenix has been hired to kill Jessie but he has no intention of going through with it. Instead he ends up taking her back to his bar. We learn a lot about Jessie's past and something more about Phoenix and Lou's. Be prepared for emotional revelations and family drama as well as unepected twists.
Great chemistry between the two.
Hope Jake will get his HEA in another chapter in the series.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐨!

When I first read of Phoenix’s character in 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (book 2 in the series) I was fascinated and intrigued with him and I knew that the author would give us another great story.

We have Jessie, who has been living a reclusive life, since she escaped her capturer when she was 17. She was only 11 when she was taken and her life has been harrowing and through the book we learn how tragic things were for her. This ordeal had not only taken years away from her childhood but also left her living a life which was truly non existent.

The couple was never meant to be together, in fact we learn early on what should have happened. As a couple though they become stronger in their own ways especially Jessie, her character blossoms and she becomes the woman that she was always meant to become with Phoenix (Warren) at her side.

Phoenix has his own issues to contend with and there is a lot to unpack but once again with great writing his story gets told in a way where we can see all the nitty gritty aspects of things. With Jessie by his side, he can deal with these issues and the bond can be seen in the way it’s wrote. I love the fact that Jessie didn’t use Phoenix as his name and used his given name of Warren it made their relationship that more special.

I could go on and on about the bo books in the series you get a lot of passion, suspense and heavy duty subjects. It’s always best to read the trigger warnings that goes with it (there will be a few).

It’s a heartbreaker and it’s angsty but you’ll love and devour it.

This book is the third book in the Reawakened series, and although it can be read as a stand-alone, I think you get more from the story and characters if you've read the other books.

Phoenix is well written and I think it is one of my favourite books to date. I found the story gripping and fast-paced, and I liked the way the story switched between the past and the present. There are plenty of twists and turns, some which I saw coming and some which I didn't. I would definitely recommend reading this series, and most certainly, this book.

Excellent!

Couldn't put this down. The first two books in the series were good, but this book tied up a lot of "loose ends" . I really hope we can catch up with Jake and Javier in the not too distant future...........
