Phoebe describes her many visits during the year to her Aunt Phoebe, who lives in an old part of Boston where the sidewalks are made of brick and the houses touch shoulders.

I Have an Aunt on Marlborough Street by Kathryn Lasky A little girl is put on a train to visit her relative, who has the same name. Descriptions of the area where there is no real yard. Each house is about the same. Love how the colors to them depict a story behind each. She visits during different seasons and tells how each house is decorated. Love how they give flowers to an elderly woman. She has cooking treats for them....love hearing of claw tub where they paint the toe nails LOL Describes their daily lifes there and how she makes her bed. Love the nightly ritual of don't let the bed bugs bite. Public gardens I had never seen as my eyes were dilated and I know the swan boats are there. I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).
This book is about a girl who loves to visit her aunt. She lives in an apartment in downtown Boston. They do different things during each season of the year and she describes what they do together during each visit throughout the year.
The media used here seems to be watercolor.
This book could be taught read aloud. The illustrations are enjoyable and would probably be very helpful for the students because they are detailed and help explain the story a lot.
Watercolor illustrations share in the story of two Phoebes, one aunt and one niece, in the city of Boston. The illustrations are beautiful. The narrative isn’t quite as lovely.
