This exhibition catalogue was published in conjunction with an eponymous show at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, held from February 8th to May 11th, 2025 … Filled with lush color-plates and interesting letter-press, the book navigates the entire career of the artist … A typical description (for “A Walk at Dusk”) reads: “In the crisp air of an autumn evening, a cloaked figure stands before a dolmen. Head down, he does not look at the prehistoric grave marker but instead seems to turn inward, deep in thought or, perhaps, in prayer. Above, the waxing crescent moon and so-called evening star (in actuality the planet Venus) pierce the dusky blue sky. With their deeply rooted associations with faith and rebirth, these celestial bodies … pictorialize a tension between decay and renewal, mortality and transcendence.” … absolutely stellar …
