I was an ARC reader for Zara, and I'm so happy I got to read her work. Wow, this was SUCH a beautiful read. Zara has an amazing way with words to describe heartbreak and pain and loss. The poems are definitely relatable. The art also matched the poems so well, it was really lovely. It was cool at the end that all proceeds go to @womensaid. If you're looking for a heartfelt read that definitely hits you in the feelings, I strongly recommend this book <3 Great work on the author's part!

Zara Smith’s Moonlight is a poetic journey through the emotional landscapes of love, heartbreak, and healing. Divided into two distinct sections—Midnight and Whole Moon—this collection beautifully captures the raw intensity of emotions that come with falling in love and the resilience that follows heartache.

The Midnight section delves into the depths of sorrow, longing, and vulnerability. The poetess paints an intimate picture of emotions that often surface in the quiet solitude of night, making the reader feel as though they are reliving their own unspoken thoughts. Every verse is filled with an intensity that lingers, creating an atmosphere of deep connection between the poet and the reader.

In contrast, Whole Moon serves as a beacon of hope and renewal. Here, Zara gracefully transitions from pain to self-discovery, illuminating the beauty of healing and personal growth. The poems in this section celebrate self-love, acceptance, and the strength that emerges from overcoming loss. The transformation from heartbreak to wholeness is written with such authenticity that it leaves a lasting impact.

What stands out most about Moonlight is its sheer honesty. Zara’s writing is unfiltered, deeply personal, and incredibly relatable. Rather than romanticizing love and pain, she embraces their complexities, allowing readers to see themselves in her words. Her ability to turn vulnerability into strength through poetry is truly commendable.

This book is not just a collection of poems; it is an experience—a guide for those who have loved, lost, and are searching for meaning in the aftermath. The theme of self-love woven throughout the verses encourages readers to embrace their imperfections and move forward with newfound strength.

"Moonlight" by Zara Smith is a beautifully crafted poetry collection that explores the raw emotions of love, loss, and healing. Through delicate yet powerful verses, Smith captures the quiet moments of heartbreak and introspection, inviting readers to reflect on their own experiences. The book is divided into two sections—"Midnight," which delves into sorrow and longing, and "Whole Moon," which illuminates the path toward healing and self-discovery.

Smith's writing is both lyrical and deeply personal, making each poem feel like a whispered confession or a heartfelt letter to the reader. Her use of vivid imagery and simple yet profound language allows emotions to resonate deeply, creating an intimate connection between the words and those who read them. The poems flow seamlessly, evoking nostalgia, hope, and the bittersweet beauty of human relationships.

This book serves as a journal for the poetess, capturing her thoughts and reflections that were once lost in silence. It is her opportunity to leave the past behind and embrace a new chapter, with the hope of touching souls in the present. After enduring a couple of thunderous years, she believes these words will offer you comfort and happiness.

The book is divided into two parts.
✓ Midnight
✓ Whole Moon

In the first half, the poetess talked about her misery and her first-hand experience with cruel reality and abuse. Her trauma of being tortured and heartbroken.

In the second half, the poetess talks about her journey toward the healing process and how she overcomes her past. It was definitely not easy, but her persistence and strong willpower helped her.

If you see an overall summary, the book left me speechless with the raw emotions, the sketches, and the pain it showcased. Every sketch was like a reality of the situation and you will feel the emotions behind it.
Zara's poetry is like an inspiration that will help readers fight the demons from the past and gain new strength and positivity.

This book is not merely a collection of poems; it is a whisper of a heart laid bare, a journal of emotions inked with longing and loss. The poetess invites us into the most intimate corners of her soul, where love once bloomed, only to wither in the cold betrayal of the one she cherished.

Divided into two parts—Midnight and Whole Moon—this collection flows like the tides of a restless heart. Midnight is the echo of a love that burned too brightly, only to be reduced to ashes. The poetess writes of a love so deep that even in its ruin, it refuses to fade. She stands at the crossroads of heartbreak, torn between forgiving the man who shattered her and walking away, never to look back. With every verse, she swings between the ache of longing and the wisdom of self-preservation. As a reader, as a woman, and as a lover, I believe betrayal is a habit, not a mistake—once broken, trust seldom heals.

Then comes Whole Moon—a gentle dawn after a night of storms. Here, the poetess embraces the quiet joys of life, the music in the rustling leaves, the solace in a fleeting moment. It is a shift from sorrow to self-love, a tender rediscovery of peace. Her words, though touched with longing, now dance with hope.

I do not keep a diary, but I have a guilty pleasure—I steal glances into my friends’ journals, savoring their secret musings. This book felt like just that—an intimate confession, raw and unfiltered, yet wrapped in the grace of poetry. At a time when my own life feels weary and drained, these words were a bouquet of fresh romantic roses, filling my soul with their lingering fragrance.

Perhaps I have woven my own story into her verses, perhaps I have misread her pain—but that is the beauty of poetry. It speaks differently to every heart, leaving behind a tale only the reader can tell.

Zara Smith’s Moonlight is a deeply evocative poetry collection that takes readers on an emotional journey through love, loss, heartbreak, and healing. Divided into two sections—“Midnight” and “Whole Moon”—the book masterfully captures the highs and lows of human emotions, making it a touching and relatable read for those who have experienced love’s beauty and its painful aftermath. It is a thought-provoking and inspiring read that encourages self-reflection and healing.

The book is structured in a way that mirrors an emotional arc. The first section, “Midnight,” plunges the reader into a world of sorrow, heartbreak, and longing. Smith’s words are raw and unfiltered, often resembling the kind of late-night thoughts that keep us awake. The poems in this section are brief yet impactful, expressing emotions in their purest form. In contrast, the second section, “Whole Moon,” focuses on healing, acceptance, and self-love. It portrays the journey of moving forward, embracing pain, and finding light again. The shift from despair to hope is gradual, making the transition.

The writing style in Moonlight is minimalistic yet deeply evocative. She employs free verse, short lines, and simple yet powerful imagery to convey complex emotions. The language is accessible, making it easy for readers to connect with the emotions behind each poem. While some pieces feel like fleeting thoughts, others linger, resonating with personal experiences of love, heartbreak, and healing. The pacing of the book is well-structured, aligning with the emotional arc.

This collection offers a heartfelt look into the author’s journey through heartbreak, capturing the rawness and confusion that often accompany young love. The poems are deeply personal, and you can sense the writer’s honesty in each line. However, it feels as though the work is geared more toward younger readers who are navigating the early stages of loss and self-discovery.

For readers looking for mature emotional layers or a variety of poetic perspectives, this collection may feel limited. The poems lean heavily on self-confessional themes, and while that’s valid and relatable, it leaves me wishing to see the author explore other themes beyond their own experiences. There’s a sense that the writer is still in the process of finding their unique voice, which can be exciting, as it hints at potential growth in future works.

Overall, it’s an expressive collection for those in the midst of young heartbreak, but for readers seeking deeper layers, it might fall short.

Moonlight is a book that is written more in a diary format. It's the random ramblings of a woman's pain, her fight to stay strong and build independent connections outside relationships.
The author has dealt with the raw pain of solitude women go through in relationships and marriage. It talks about her rosy dreams and how they get broken. It also deals with how women hopelessly cling on to a relationship that has long ceased to exist. The author has not minced words when describing what a woman goes through in a loveless relationship.
The beauty of the book lies in the fact that it asks women to grow up. Take charge of their life and make meaningful relationships. Definitely a must read for all ladies. It will help them to end bad relationships and motivate them to rebuild themselves.

I am still currently reading this book but I can say that so far it's quite good. As someone who I still slowly venturing into Poetry Collections myself.

Although I am still reading it I already have done fav quotes that stand out to me. I like the illustrations as well they make it all the more better.

And her style of writing poetry is almost conversational at times which stand out to me and makes me feel connected to the poems I have read so far.
