Poetry is one the oldest forms of art in the world, and the first literary genre as well. It has been said that poetry is the food of the soul. Poetry is not superficial, the permeability of this artform reaches the deepest recesses of our being. But people of the modern world hardly have the time to read poetry, at least not in the way it is meant to be read. And so good works of poetry have become endangered. But it works like 'Aspirational Goals' by Eric Scott Grand that remind us of the beauty of poetry.
The author has been an active poet since 1991 and the experiences he has gathered over the years are visible in his works. There are several wonderful poems in this volume. He has presented his thoughts on a wide variety of topics. It is always interesting to read about what people have to say. The topics are also seemingly simple. They don't claim to be complicated. It makes us think even more deeply about them. Apart from presenting his thoughts on it, he also makes us think about the different aspects discussed. It is like a writing prompt also in a way it encourages us to put our thoughts on paper. The author has done a brilliant job of presenting everything to us through his words. The poems are interesting to read. You can read one each day or all of them at once. They are not repetitive and he does not go on and on explaining the same ideas. Each poem is concise and crisp. Although there is a thread tying them all, the poems are also complete in their own right.
You should read this book if you like reading poems from different poets. He has a style of his own and he is not trying to imitate anyone and that is what makes it even more appealing. The language is also easy to understand. A simple and beautiful anthology.
"Aspirational Goals" by Eric Scott Grand is a powerful and thought-provoking read. The author beautifully conveys that aspirational goals are those we list for future accomplishment—goals that require consistent effort and dedication to achieve.
In the poem Optimism, Grand emphasizes how a positive mindset can transform our circumstances. The poem inspires readers to bounce back stronger, instilling a sense of confidence even before the final outcome is known.
I particularly enjoyed the poem Smart, which offers a clear and simple definition of what it means to be smart. According to the poem, being smart is about finding solutions with clarity and ease—tackling challenges smoothly and completing tasks without complications.
These poems are deeply relatable, especially for those striving to grow in their careers. Qualities like optimism, intelligence, and ambition are thoughtfully woven throughout the book, encouraging readers to aim high and stay motivated. This book reminded me of my own school and college days, and I highly recommend it to anyone chasing their goals. Don’t think twice—just dive in!
I'm here with another non-fiction read, it's "Aspirational goals by Eric Scott. The author finishes with a framework for success through his words. Shorter book, which you can probably finish in 15-20 minutes. The author pointed out many words that may help you out in the long run, I loved the contents under the title Scholarships and Optimism, the writer explained well about those topics.
A good way to focus is what you want in life and I think this book is more about it. There are only 12 chapters and it is short and fairly to the point. There aren't any chapters that drag on before getting to the point. Also, the writer is very conversational in his writing.
You'll get some really useful stuff out of this book like visualizing your goals and you'll feel yourself working on it whenever the author uses any terms related to "optimistic" "Success".
Your voice is so distinct, and I truly appreciate how you managed to keep every page captivating. It’s definitely a book that lingers in my mind even after finishing it.
