Sky never knew love but desired it so much because once she made it into this world, she was left to survive on her own. She could never phantom the meaning of love because it wasn’t a part of her. However, when she met two young girls also looking for guidance and love in this world, sacrificing herself to save them may have placed her right where she belongs.
Being a big brother wasn’t easy for Naim, but he carried his family on his back with ease. Sadly, putting too much trust in a person is the easiest way to get caught up in these streets. You never know who is after you, nor your place until it’s too late. Naim swore he would never trust a woman again until he couldn’t resist the chocolate beauty trying to capture his soul. Does he follow her to the sky or is he led by his experiences?
After the fight with Naz ol’ lady Tina, Autumn decided to stay out the way by focusing on her family and work. Naz desired a fair shot at love like his parents, but it wouldn’t be easy because he carried extra baggage. Naz had to juggle the streets, so does he even have time for love?
Bronx got the second shock of his life when he found out the girl of his dreams had been hiding an unforgivable secret. He’d been seeing Lyric for five years and never once did he imagine her blindsiding him. If she would lie about a child, what else was she lying about? Bronx thought that Lyric was untampered with, but he was wrong. Nothing in the world would have prepared him to take more losses in life, but will Lyric be the biggest one of all?
While the men may be thuggin’ they surely can’t resist the romance. Find out how it all unfolds through their battles of love and war.
Thuggin’ In Romance had so many twists my head and heart were in competition with each other. I felt awful for the girls because they all dealt with traumatic issues, while trying to rewrite their stories. The brothers were trying to find their lanes also. I think for a debut author, the story as a whole was good. However, it was challenging to keep up with the characters and their backgrounds. I also think at times I got lost on what was happening, the flow was choppy at times. But, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story. I am interested in seeing this author continue to develop her craft and I can’t wait for book two.
After reading the reviews I really wanted to like this esp since I saw that it’s the author’s first book, but it’s horrible and boring. I pushed through all the way to 73% (given I skipped soooooo many pages) and nothing I mean nothing but a bunch of descriptions and repeating the same thing has happened. How is the auntie calling Lyric’s baby her granddaughter when the story made it seem like they were at her house for that one night; never came out the room, and then I guess left and had never been back? We’re 5 years later, which means they would have had to be around this lady a whole lot more than the story made it seem. I can’t imagine as irritating of a character lyric is that she would feel comfortable letting this woman stake that kind of claim on her daughter if they weren’t closer, which also in turn means that at some point they should have been ran into the the men. Then on top of that the guys are so smart two of them graduating from college and one got some kind of degree in jail, but their goals in life is to be drug dealer? Like what? Then on top of that they DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, they not even good at it. This book dragged soooo much that I had to just say enough is enough and stop reading it. Idk why the author wanted to make this story just like all the other good stories so bad instead of stepping out the box and going in a different direction but imo this was a fail. And it was draining. I’m not even gone proofread this review.
Right off the bat I will say the opening of the book was confusing. It looked as if it was about Naz and Autumn but it was about everyone and talked more about everyone than the two of them. Other than that I really follow the story. It’s really crazy how both the girls and guys were dealing with so much at such young ages and crossed paths and didn’t even know it. It was really traumatizing situations that has gotten everyone to where they are at now. I really wished everyone would just speak up and stop holding back when clearly they could all be helping each other. I am kinda looking at sandy kind of side ways because her and her mom are the middle people but not saying a thing. All in all I really am hoping they all get the answers needed to move forward and allow all the men and women to get the healing they need but also the relationships they desire with some much needed get back. And how the hell is Tina safe when she is connected to Naz and Dave? On to part 2.
Great job thus Brad DarShea! This book kept my interest from start to finish! Family don't have to always be blood, Sky took Autumn and Lyric under her wings as a young woman herself! I really love how they pursued their education after getting away from a monster! Auntie Sue didn't play about her nephews and daughter Sandy. Naim, Naz and Bronx very tight! I hope to see each of the guys and young ladies nurture and grow a relationship and the guys also completed their education! Interested in seeing how the brothers handle their letters!
A very new author! His storyline had me on the edge of my seat because I was so invested. My heart was a little broken for Sky and Autumn while in foster care. This story had a very powerful message Do not allow anyone to take your power, fix your crown with your head held very high! I really did enjoy this a lot and can’t wait to see what’s next from this author. Good Job 👍🏾
This author had me hooked at the first page. These characters have no clue how connected they truly are. Can't wait to see how it all plays out. For this to be the author first book. She definitely didn't come to play. Can't wait to see what all she comes up with next.
Great read, I must definitely loved this book it was everything from the beginning to the end. I most definitely cried while reading. Those girls been through a lot along with the brothers. I hope in the next book everything comes out and Bronx and brothers kill Dave. Again great read and I can’t wait for the next book.
I really tried to love this book, that didn’t work. Then, I tried to like this book, and that didn’t work so I had to stop reading it. The storyline was good, however, the writing was so very choppy and at times confusing that I had to move on. I will keep an eye out for future books by this author, and can’t wait to witness her growth!
Listen this book was amazing, I hope each and everyone get the chance to experience true love. I hope Dave gets exactly what's coming to him cause he definitely deserve it. I can't wait for pt.2
New author where? I am so hooked. I recommended this to 4 of my reader friends. I am so vested in this story and ready for Dave and Wendy to get their karma. Ready for part 2!!! Great start to a great series.
I sat down to read this book and could not put it down! I am out here living in these Atlanta streets with these characters! Book 2 me please because I got too many questions that need answers!
This is my first read from this author… the book started slow and by the time it started to pick up I figured it would be a part 2 but either way I couldn’t stop reading it’s currently 5am
Thuggin’ in Romance was good. The book follows three sisters as they navigate life through and after tragedy. In their navigation they meet three brothers who quickly become interested in them. This book made me immediately jump into the series.
