What a great book. Lesson plans, philosophy, and plenty of quotes to trot out for colleagues who hold preconceived notions of what giftedness looks like in different populations.

Our classrooms are filled with a number of students from different backgrounds and cultures. Those students are not entering our classrooms as blank slates. Instead, they enter with a wealth of prior knowledge and experiences. It is imperative that we take the knowledge that our students have and integrate it into our classrooms. Multicultural Gifted Education, is a wonderful book that addresses the need for multicultural education within the gifted classroom. The books contains a comprehensive description of multicultural education. It discusses what multicultural education is, who is comprised within it, history, legal cases, assessment bias/ curriculum, counseling of minority students and family support. It focuses on the need to raise expectations and the quality of instruction for these students. The book also includes a variety of resources that educators can use. By providing the students with a quality education, it raises the bar for these students so that they may be successful in the future.
