He’s my sworn enemy. And my heart's desire.

Loki

I left my pack and my brothers to get revenge on the werewolf that murdered my father. My plan was to kill his son, drawing his fury. Then I could get the job done once and for all.

But when fang meets fang during our fight, the earth opens up and swallows us both. Now I’m stuck in a never ending cave system with the son of my most hated enemy. And the worst part? I’m certain he’s my mate.

If I cross this line, there’s no coming back. But if I don’t, how will I live with myself?

Heimdall

My father is being hunted and so am I. We’re just trying to save our kind, that’s what I’ve been brought up to believe. I have to protect him at any cost for the future of our pack.

When my father turns his back on me, both Loki and I tumble into a cave system. Hurt, alone, and betrayed by my own father, Loki is the only comfort I have. I can feel the bond between us and despite all my upbringing, I know I can trust him. Now if he’s just let me through that bristly exterior of his.

Despite it all, loving Loki comes easily for me. But we’ll both have to betray our families if we want to be together.

I liked book one more. Although quite a large portion of the book takes place in a cave, there wasn’t an in-depth exploration of the guys’ psyche or their relationship to each other and to their families. Not that I really minded because this is supposed to be a light read. And same as last book, it was insta-love but that’s what happens a lot of the time with fated mates stories. It did end a bit abruptly, in terms of Loki and Heimdall’s relationship. But I didn’t mind the cliffhanger so much because first I don’t have to wait for book 3 to be released and am gonna read it right now, and second it’s a good cliffhanger for the overarching plot of the war between the packs. But ultimately, where this fell short is that it just didn’t feel as intense or emotional as I would’ve liked (and this holds for the bedroom scenes too which I didn’t mind not at all find realistic, even in the context of a paranormal story). Two things bothered me quite a bit. 1) They never tried to use their more powerful wolf forms to heal those 10 feet and escape from the hole they fell through. Not saying it has to work, but at least try. And 2) it really wasn’t difficult for Loki to try and communicate with his brothers and let them know that he was acting as a double-agent. So I never understood why he never even tried to reach out.

But again and like book one, this was still a fun light read and I am so looking forward to Baldr’s tale. Friends-to-lovers is much more my speed than enemies-to-lovers like this one was.

This second volume is so intense!
Loki's emotions, his pain, his anger, his desire for revenge consume him, making him lose all common sense. He flees his clan and lives with the sole objective of getting revenge and taking control of the enemy clan.
Negative emotions dominate him and make him detestable.
I like that he is not a perfect hero, that he is human and too focused on his own emotions to see beyond his navel and that we do not like him at first glance.
And finally, it is a bit the same for Heimdall, he is on the side of the enemy, necessarily unpleasant at first. But on his side it is more for lack of knowing anything else, the real monster is his father and who is his only example.
But little by little, the forced proximity of Loki and Heimdall, the death they brush against several times and the unique bond that binds them by destiny, force them to put everything into perspective, to review their own judgments, their mistakes and to understand each other.
And little by little, by following their journey of survival in the bowels of the earth, we begin to appreciate them a little more to understand why they act in this way.
They do not come out of it whitewashed, they are far from perfect... Loki has questionable morals, Heimdall has not yet completely left the doctrines of his father and despite the veil that gradually lifts on the true nature of Tyr, he keeps hope of being able to save him.
This book is intense in emotions. It is a real way of the cross for the redemption of Loki and Heimdall, for one to forget his anger and finally mourn and for the other to leave his world and open his eyes to the truth.

I can't wait to read the next volume and finally discover Baldr's secret and the outcome of this story!

----

Here's Blake R Wolfe's "Loki's Enemy Mate." It's the second novel in the Mated to the Viking Alpha series.

["He’s my sworn enemy. And my heart's desire.

Enemies to lovers (with a whole lotta gay panic in there).

Quote of the Day (not because its romantic or anything, just a gay panic) (Heimdall): " That was the only possible explanation. I didn't fall down a hole and turn gay."

But I loved them. It took a while to build the trust, but at the same time, it just felt right to trust each other. Without each other, they both would have died in that cave. That cave also gave them the (forced proximity) space to get to know one another, to grow that bond, to fall in love.

Of course, this book ended on a major cliffhanger (for the series--these two where a definite HFN).

Trigger Warnings: violence, speciesism, and more.

This is the second book in the trilogy and even though each book focuses on a different couple, there is an overarching plot that carries throughout.
Heimdall is your typical big, buff Alpha werewolf, he is also quite sensitive and emotional, and loyal to his father and his teachings even though he knows, deep down, that his father has a fractured mind.
Loki is small for an Alpha werewolf, he is strong, stubborn, very single minded in his focus, clever, and has a tendency to be angry.
Being trapped after a dangerous fall into a cavern means these two rivals from packs on the verge of war have to rely on one another if they are to find a way out and survive. The tension between them is high enough, but goes through the roof when they realize fate has thrown them a huge twist - they are fated mates. Survival is uppermost in their minds, but they are learning more about one another, and soon the bond starts forming a connection that neither man can ignore.
There were a lot of emotions and trauma that our MC's need to deal with, some surprising twists, new plans to work on, a war to avert, plenty of high heat spicy times, and true feelings that lead to genuine love.
The way Heimdall and Loki evolved throughout this book was brilliantly done.
This book is so good that I flew through the story, and I was shocked - in more than one way - when I reached the end. A highly entertaining story that grabs your attention from page one and leaves you wanting more - especially after that explosive cliffhanger!! I hope the final book is out soon!
I would definitely recommend this book, but as I stated earlier, this trilogy needs to be read in order so it can be fully enjoyed.

I received an ARC, this is my unbiased, honest opinion.

This second book in the series featuring Loki and Heimdall is captivating with its intricate character dynamics and gripping plot. The duo’s personalities are tested as they find themselves lost in a dark cave, allowing us to witness a unique transformation from enemies to lovers. This intriguing relationship combines heat and emotion, adding layers to their quest for survival.

What sets this series apart is how it delves into the characters’ contrasting personalities. In the face of adversity, Loki and Heimdall’s interactions evolve significantly. The emotional stakes keep you engaged, making their development essential to the narrative. Readers are treated to a thrilling plot and the rich emotional awakening of their journey.

While the first book left us with a satisfying sense of closure, the second installment takes a different turn, ending abruptly and leaving readers in suspense. This cliffhanger elicits mixed feelings; one can’t help but feel disappointed after the build-up of emotions throughout the story. Nevertheless, the excitement built within these pages has left me eagerly anticipating the third book. I feel deeply invested in how Loki and Heimdall’s paths will unfold and ultimately converge.

In conclusion, despite the abrupt ending of the second book, the depth of character exploration and emotional resonance keeps readers on the edge of their seats, eagerly waiting for the next chapter in their saga.

Book two of the Mated to the Viking Alpha trio continues the story of the war between the Hati and Skoll werewolf packs. Loki has abandoned his pack, angry that his Alpha, brother Thor, has mated a human and refuses to attack the weaker Skoll pack. Spying on Alpha Tyr and his son, Heimdall, the branch he's braced upon breaks. Tyr orders Heimdall to kill Loki and while they're grappling, they fall through an opening in the cave/mine system riddling Skoll mountain. They're both injured, and unable to reach the opening in the cave ceiling . And in the dark. With only a cell phone flashlight.
About half the book is their journey through the cave system. Broken bones, a few near death tumbles and a near drowning in an underground river, they go from enemies to reluctant and then very enthusiastic, mates. They have a sizzling chemistry, electricity arcing between them when they touch. The attraction blossoms even though the knowledge that neither pack will except them, is always there.
The three day trip was exciting, Heimdall's panic over getting stuck quite realistic. Hopefully Loki doesn't burn all his bridges with his family, but we won't know until book three. I don't really care for cliffhangers, but Mr. Wolfe ended this book at the perfect point. Can't wait for Baldr's book.
I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my review.

Reading Thor I found Loki annoying due to his constant arguments. So I went into this story ready to get more annoyed with him. But what I got was a character that was hurting and so full of grief, that my annoyance with him disappeared.
A lot of this story is just Loki and Heimdall trying to get back above ground and as they stumble around you get to learn more about them as characters and watch them try and fight the bond and how much sexual tension there was between them. I started to understand why Loki was how he was and how he wanted to change and Heimdall the betrayal he felt when his father left him there. I couldn't put this book down and I felt that I was there following them as they tried to escape. I also loved their pet names they had for each other, I love a book with pet names
Once they escaped the tension went up a notch and I could not put this book down. so imagine my disappointment when it ended on a cliffhanger. This is the worse thing for me I despise cliffhanger and now I am here eagerly waiting for the third and final book in this series as whilst I will get to read Baldr's story, I have my suspicions on what will happen I will get the conclusion to the underlying story that has been running through the series so far

Another fun and quick read! I’m really intrigued by the overarching plot of the trilogy and I’m curious to see where we’re going to end up at the end.

Book two starts where we left off at the end of book one, but we follow Loki’s journey with Heimdall.

I liked that the characters and their development felt different than the one of book one, each character in this series so far has their own quirks and I like that.

I did find the ending a bit abrupt, I understand it plot wise, but I wasn’t expecting it at that time. Luckily I can immediately jump into book three. With the ending being a bit abrupt, I felt like we didn’t really get an ending to their love story. Hopefully it’ll be remedied in the last installment. I’ll definitely go read the bonus chapter first though!

Overall so far I recommend this book and trilogy if you’re looking for something fairly light, paranormal with hot guys and a good amount of steam.

• MM romance
• fated mates
• enemies to lovers
• forced proximity
• first times
• fast paced
• werewolves
• norse mythology inspired (not heavy)
• knotting + a sprinkle of breeding kink
• strict roles (even tho it was hinted to reverse roles, never happened unfortunately, maybe in the bonus scene? 👀)
• 1st person pov
• dual pov

4.5 Stars!

This is book two of three in the Mated to the Viking Alpha series and although it started off a tad slowly, it was an amazing read and I absolutely loved it. UNTIL it ended on a blasted cliffhanger!!! Usually, if I know a book will end like that, I’ll wait until the next book is released before reading the current book so it doesn’t drive me nuts but this time, I had no idea. I just hope Baldr’s book doesn’t take long before it’s released.

Loki and Heimdall’s book, no doubt, is definitely worth a 5 star rating but, I HATE cliffhangers. It’s so tempting to rate it down because, even constantly monitoring the time remaining, I was blindsided when I flipped the page expecting either Thor, Baldr or even Granny to step out only to see a request for a review—I started flipping backwards thinking I had accidentally skipped a few pages but nope, it was over!! It’s only a sense of fair play that’s keeping me from giving it 4 stars but because I was loving it up right up until the final page, I give it 4.5 Stars.

This series only getting better and better. After the events in the first book, we get to meet Loki. One thing leads to another and he and the son of his enemy, Haimdall, are trapped in a cave. There happens a lot in that cave. They find out they are fated mates. But the real fight starts outside. Love & betrayal. I loved this book. Both men are alpha wolves and I freaking love that! I wish more alpha x alpha pairing. The story took a turn I didn't see coming, and Loki and Haimdall are so good together. Both of them can't keep their hands to themselves, the heat is extreme. Plot twists I didn't see coming, and I can't wait to see how this intense story turns out. Blake R. Wolfe is really getting into the pack dynamic – it is sooooo good.
I rec your read in order, so you get the most out of it.

Loki's Enemy Mate is the second volume in the Mated to the Viking Alpha series.

It tells the story of Loki, Thor's brother, who left his pack because he did not agree with his brother's human partner. It continues telling us the story of the rival pack with Heimdall, the son of Tyr, who by chance of fate, an accident occurs and is trapped with Loki in a cave, from which they have to escape to survive. During these moments of struggle for his life, feelings come to the surface.

In this book Loki is better understood, although he is not justified, because he is not perfect, as neither is Heimdall, who has daddy issues.

If you like enemies to lovers with forced proximity, this is the book for you.

The next one will tell us Baldr's story, he is my favorite brother.

Well I've always been more of a Loki fan growing up reading about Norse mythology so I figured I'd gravitate more towards liking Loki's story and honestly I wasn't disappointed. The dynamics between Loki and heimdall were great. The push and pull if emotions, though I'm with heimdall, I'd definitely freak out being stuck in a cave hole. I was panicking along with him. Though honestly when I didn't think I could detest tyr any further, well it seemed I could. Let's say some not appropriate and definitely not colorful in a good way were ideas on how he could get his just desserts come to mind. The cliffhanger, dang so glad I have book three to start or I'd be dying here waiting to see the end of a great series.

no real ending

The book was okay, but there wasn’t an actual ending or any resolution to this book, it just ends beginning/mid battle. Very disappointing and annoying to read that whole thing and just have it end like that. I was planning to read B3 anyways, but being forced into it in this manner, just for the resolution I should have gotten anyways, is off-putting. It’s been a min since I read B1, but I don’t recall it having the same issue. I understand there’s an overarching plot line, but there still could have been better resolution in this book, even if the goal was to end it mid battle and have new MC’s picking up the story. Even reading Baldr’s story won’t actually resolve this book for me, it was too open ended and unfinished.

This series is keeping me on my toes, a heads up for readers that this book ends on a cliffhanger but knowing Blake's writing book 3 will make it worth the wait.

I love that for most of the book it's just the two main characters, learning about each other and figuring out that the other is not who either of them expected. The scenery descriptions are fantastic, you really feel like you're in the moment with them, especially when you feel how cold that river water is!

Beautiful characters, amazing writing and a story that literally leaves you begging for more, I cannot wait to see where the final book leads us.

Great story, but there are issues.

Last review I wrote about book 1 in this series, I mentioned how nice it was to read a mistake free story & that this author was better than most at not riddling his writing with errors.
Not this book. It's full of silly editing fails.
Fortunately, the story is engaging & imaginative. The chartacters are fairly well written, but I found them a little more clichéd this time around.
I'm glad this is only a 3 book series. I may not have tolerance for more.
Still, at the very least, there doesn't seem to be any obvious AI interference in the narrative, which is more than I can say for a lot of the books I've read lately.

Just OK

I enjoyed the first book in this series and was intrigued enough with the plot to want to continue. I’m surprised that I didn’t like this book more but for some reason I just didn’t connect to the two main characters at all. I found myself not really enjoying either’s perspective and though the parts with them trapped were interesting, it just doesn’t feel like enough happened to warrant a whole book being about them and their story.

I’m hoping the next book is a big improvement!

I was enjoying this. It was a really good enemies to lovers romance. The angst was giving and their reasons for being enemies was valid. It would’ve been my favourite read in the series if it hadn’t ended so abruptly.

Like what was the reason for that sudden ending? It’s not like this couple would be getting a second book, the third book js about the third brother and then this couples book ended on a stupid cliffhanger. Why couldn’t you just give them their happy ending? You could’ve done that without it affecting the story of the third brother.

Despite how much I loved Heimdall and Loki, the ending of this was stupid.

Second book in the Mated to the Viking Alpha series. Another spicy M/M romantasy featuring the second werewolf brother Loki. This book began more seriously than Thor’s Unexpected Mate and ends with an intense cliffhanger. The overarching plot is more complex than I expected. I have to give the author props for coming up with tragic family dynamics that make this short novel better than simple erotica. The prose is straight forward and the enemies to lovers trope is well done.

This book picks up the overarching plot from book one 2 packs about to be at war! Loki and Heimdall are so hot together! Enemies forced to rely on each other for survival that discover fate has decided they are mates! They both have an emotional struggle to go through to finally let go of their hate and trust each other. Poor hamball has been lied to his whole life but dinky is just what he needs. Well written, high steam, action packed and so good. Looking forward to the final book in the series…I need to know what happens after that cliffhanger!

It was another great story. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down totally. It was addicted. Forbidden love between these two characters. Chemistry between them was like fireworks sparks were flying when they lay eyes on each other and the physical attraction was torture and the tension was intense and mind blowing of control.
I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones

Loki and Heimdall are sworn enemies. However, when Loki gets caught spying on the Skoll pack. He and Heimdall have to rely on each other to get out of the cave they fell with in. As they get to know each other they realize that neither are as evil as they thought and are fated mates.
This is the second book in the series and is not a stand alone. It picks up where the first left off and ends with a cliffhanger.
Both MCs are wonderful and realize that loving one another is what matters most.

I had the same issues with this book as I did with the last one. The insta-lust and love was ridiculously fast. No real chemistry between them. All they did was have a lot of sex in not so clean places. Even worse there was no talk of cleaning themselves before or after sex. So gross. The plot barely moved along then it ended on a cliffhanger.

Such a shame because the cover is gorgeous but I just can’t with these enemies to instalove’s. Where’s the challenge’s? The chase? The angst? Or even the basic green is my favourite colour how about you? The character connection felt so forced and rushed, I actually felt icky their first encounter.

It’s someone’s style but just not mine.

This really isn't a favorite series for me but the 2nd book was more interesting than the 1st, mainly bc the MC were likable. I won t remember much of it after I m done that s for sure. The last brother was the most intriguing for me since book 1 so I am looking forward to his book next

This book focuses primarily on the two main love interests—and because of this you really get to feel their chemistry much more than the first book. Loki and Heimdall are rough and sweet and a good pair, and it was satisfying to see that relationship grow (and hot, of course). Occasional typographical errors did throw me out of the story though. I wish the ending didn’t simply set up the third book—there was more I wanted to see from these two, and I’m sad to know I won’t really see their story conclude from their perspectives.
