Freya Matthews was used to being let down and left out, but when she’s ditched on her birthday and crawls into bed alone, she never could have known that her entire life was about to be turned on its head.
Her short seventeen years on Earth had been dull for so long, Freya had already resigned herself to living a quiet, boring, and oh so lonely life.
That is until she catches the attention of Dylan Cassidy.
Dylan knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go out and get it. Being the town’s local football star and the object of every teenage girl’s fantasy isn’t enough for him anymore; not when he crosses paths with a cute, nerdy girl who exudes innocence and mystery.
But life is never easy. With a dark cloud hanging over Freya’s head, threatening what little happiness she’s managed to find for herself, will Dylan be able to lead her into the light? Or will old demons and determined foes tear her down for good?
Finding You, Finding Me delves into various relatable themes, including first love, high school bullying, friendship, family dynamics, and love. These experiences resonate with readers, regardless of their age or background.
Freya is a loner but occasionally hangs out with two cheerleaders, Skye and Vickie. This may be more so because their moms and her mom are great friends. Freya has nothing in common with the two girls. While Skye and Vickie do not show that they are real friends to Freya, she is always there for them.
Despite Vickie's bullying, Freya keeps her struggles and the vile messages to herself, believing she can handle it on her own. However, Vickie's hurtful words begin to weigh on Freya, leaving her unsure of who she can turn to for help.
Freya also caught the eye of footballer Dylan Cassidy. Dylan is popular but does not care for all the attention. He prefers to play football and head home. However, he notices Freya from a distance, and something about her draws his attention. Dylan starts talking to Freya and getting to know her, and they realise they are both attracted.
How do the most popular boy in school and the girl, considered a loner, start a relationship? Can he get the shy girl out of her shell so she can hang with him? Will he have her back when he finds out about the bullying?
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Easy-to-read, Page-turner, Realistic, Tear-jerker, Wonderful characters
Bullying High school romance First love Shy/nerdy girl Mean girl Friends to lovers
Freya was the odd man out with her two “friends. Skye and Victoria hung out with her when they needed her. Their moms were best friends so they knew each other since forever. Freya was very mild mannered, hated confrontation and let too many things pass. She was way too nice. Victoria was absolutely awful. Skye eventually proved her worth.
Dylan was the football star and popular guy. He was a bit grumpy and only really tolerated one friend. He was focused on football and getting to the NFL. Once Freya caught his attention he started to tolerate her too. He realized she was more than just a nerdy girl who wore baggy clothes and liked art. When he fell, he fell hard. He was possessive and protective.
This story deals with a lot of high school drama. It was a quick read but packed a lot of emotional issues. Bullying, mean girls, betrayal, friendships all play into this coming of age story. Family played a role in this story too, the support and sincere love was good to see. Everyone needed a sibling like Lylah!
Freya is a loner in school and only considers Skylar and Victoria as her friends. On her 17th birthday, her friends end up ditching her for a party but the kind-hearted Freya still ends up picking them up for the night. And that is when her life changes when Dylan notices her.
Soon, Dylan wins her over and becomes her first boyfriend. I loved the dynamics between this couple who is the opposite of each other. But before they can have their happy ever after, an incident causes Freya to hide back in her shell, from everyone, including Dylan.
This book reminds me of my high school days, of first love and all the girl things that we used to do. It was a wonderful journey to follow Freya as she learns to stand up for herself, while learning to trust and lean on Dylan. I also enjoyed the scenes between Freya and her sister, Lilah.
Freya is being bully by Victoria one of the girl her best friend sky hangs with they both ignore her. they grew up together. Their mother are beat friend. so instead of hanfingbout with each other ro celebrate Freya birthday Victoria and Sky go to a party get drunk and call Freya to pick them up which it kind of make me angry for her because she give her friend Sky a chance after chance. she love her art she is kind. when sky caught her boyfriend with Victoria that when she want to be friends freya spend time with her. Dylan notice Freya and he want her but he also see the way she is being treated and stand up for her. when other boys start to notice her he start spending time with her. When freya is bully and recorded and Victoria tell her mom Freya is the one who isthe bully her mom believe Victoria until freya sister come and defend her sister.
AJ is back with another fantastic read! This book is about highschool bullying, a football star and a quiet unassuming nerdy girl who keeps to herself, that is until Dylan sees her and things change..
Freya is your quiet highschool girl that isn't in the popular girl circle. She has some close BFF's in the cheer squad.... that's what she always thought but as we read on not all is as it seems.. Things are hidden. Dylan is the Captain of the football team, he is the star at school and the attention of all the girls, except Freya. Freya though has caught his attention, the quiet unassuming nerdy girl. I loved this highschool bully romance, absolutely looking forward to more amazing reads by AJ Love!
This is Freya and Dylan’s story. Freya is a shy loner, who avoids confrontation, and is used to being overlooked in her life. Dylan is a grump, and popular star football player, who is used to getting what he wants, and is focused on getting onto the NFL, and only tolerates one friend in his life, until he meets Freya. This is a well written easy to read, emotional roller coaster, with family dynamics, friendships, bullying, opposites attract, friends / lovers, betrayal, trust, drama, first love, and is an entertaining high school romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Freya finds Dylan at a time in her life when she really needs a true friend. Dylan isn't wanting the role he's stepped into, and soon realizes he does. I thoroughly enjoyed this young adult romance.
Freya's story- a story about first love but more important about discovering your voice in the world. Great dynamics and interaction. Definitely took me back to high school days and the drama of it all.
