From the author of the award-winning thrillers Beyond the Grate and Into the Darkness Beyond comes a heart-pounding, claustrophobic adventure like no other.
Three people. Three hours. It’s a race against time. It’s a race to stay alive.
What do you do when you become separated from your dive buddy in the depths of a cave? How long can you search before running out of air? In Beyond Hope, Joey Simmons and Lindsey Carter are back, but this time, they face their greatest challenge yet. On their first trip to dive the caves of Cozumel, Mexico, they venture into an underwater cave with their friend Gary. But when a dive goes horribly wrong, the three are separated over 2,000 feet inside the cave. With limited air and no way to communicate, Joey and Lindsey are in a race against time to find Gary and to find each other and escape the cave before it’s too late. Beyond Hopepushes the limits of survival, testing friendships, faith, and courage in the dark, unforgiving depths. Can they make it out alive—or are they truly Beyond Hope?

What readers say about Beyond Hope
"I've done some diving.... was a PADI Divemaster for awhile... & you're creepin' me out with your cave diving I can FEEL it. ****sakes, it evokes a physical reaction. I feel claustrophobic as ****!
"You have definitely progressed as a writer over the first three books. Beyond Hope was a page turner."
If you haven't read Beyond the Grate or Into the Darkness Beyond, make sure to check them out as well. Beyond Hope can be read as a stand-alone novel, but it's just a little better after having read the first two books.

Another day, another dive for Joey Simmons and the girlfriend who puts up with him for God-only-knows why, Lindsey Carter. (I’m pretty sure when Sabrina Carpenter co-wrote the lyrics to “Manchild,” she was referring to our pal, Joey.) But this time, they’ve taken their show on the road, so to speak, and are exploring the caves of Cozumel, Mexico, along with their buddy, Gary. Gary is every bit as impetuous as Joey, so poor Lindsey’s really got her work cut out for her keeping these two loose cannons in check. For her, it’s more like babysitting than vacation, so what are the odds these two lunkheads will actually follow the safety protocols that Lindsey insists upon when diving as a team?
Yeah, you guessed right…
In his third “Beyond” outing, Neto tackles a rather difficult challenge as an author. We know from the very beginning that our three protagonists are separated, and each has a limited amount of time to find each other and return to the surface before they run out of air. How in the world can you take this premise and stretch it to 300+ pages? I’ll admit, I was a little dubious. But Neto’s extensive personal experience with cave diving gives him a unique perspective from which to spin his tales, and it lends an authenticity to his fiction that is both immersive and claustrophobic. His use of rotating points-of-view keeps the story afloat (pardon the pun) as our protagonists’ predicament becomes more and more dire, although I DO think there was maybe a wee bit too much redundancy that could have been omitted while keeping the tension fully intact—thus the four-and-a-half star rating. However, it will get rounded up to five on most platforms, as most don’t deal in fractions.
I would never spoil the ending of a book, but as there IS already a fourth book in the series, it’s safe to say that at least SOMEONE survives—but Neto will keep you guessing until the very end who that might be. Nice addition to the series!
Not a lot of good adventure authors out there, but this is good. Tells a cave-diving story (!) with great balance; savvy descriptions of the equipment & techniques used are blended well with the narrative.
