Eleanor says: I learned about the triceratops. I learned that it’s head was huge, maybe bigger than me! I wish I could see a triceratops. They ate plants. It had between 400 and 800 teeth. I would not like to brush that many teeth. I bet the triceratops babies were cute. The triceratops is one of my favorites.
This ABDO Kids book introduces the dinosaur Triceratops to beginning readers. Each two page spread has two short, easy to read sentences and a full page color illustration.
The illustrations are photographs of either dinosaur models or real fossils. The page that gives the information on where these fossils have been found has a map showing where these locations are in the United States and Canada. The book includes a table of contents, glossary and index. It has two bonus sections that give more facts and an access code for abdokids.com which allows them to find crafts, games and videos to continue the learning process. This book would be a good book for a newly emergent reader to practice their reading skills as it has basic information in easy to read format; however, children who already know their dinosaurs might find the information repetitive from what they already know.
I would recommend this for any school or public library’s easy reading section.
