Let’s go pebbling! A child’s imagination can find something magical in just about anything—even an ordinary pebble. In this colorful board book, a little boy uses red and black pebbles to make a face. But when it comes to the teeth, wouldn’t green ones be perfect? With bucket in hand, he and his mom set out to find those just right pebbles. He finds pebbles on the road, in the river, and even in his dreams, but there are no green pebbles anywhere. The solution is easy—all it takes is some green paint, and before you know it, his pebble face is sporting a big green pebble smile. Perfect for very young children, this whimsical book shows how imagination and creativity can make anything possible. Sparse yet lyrical text describes the idyllic time the little boy spends with his mother, while the charming illustrations reflect the simple pleasures of a day in the country.
A Pebble Story by Emil Sher is a story that all children can relate to. A little boy is making a picture of a face out of pebbles and decides he needs green pebbles for teeth. He and his mother go exploring, looking for the perfect pebbles. But green pebbles are hard to find so he has a problem. He solves his problem by painting his pebbles green, and now he can finish his face.
What child has not gone exploring and collecting pebbles, shells, leaves and other fun things found in nature. This book takes an activity that most children have done so they can relate to it. It allows for the opportunity to talk with your child about their own exploring adventures. It also helps teach a lesson that sometimes to solve a problem, you have to get creative. I really liked the fact that problem solving is a lesson learned.
The sentences are short and contain words that a young child will understand. The illustrator, Cindy Revell, does another good job using colorful and vivid pictures to compliment the story. The length of the book is perfect for young attention spans.
I would recommend this book to any adult who enjoys reading cute stories that contain a message to their child. I know my grandchildren will enjoy this book and my granddaughter will want to talk about her own adventures. This would be a great addition to any family library, as well as a preschool library.

A Pebble story is told in simple sentences. It is a short story book which is good as we know the attention span of a two to three year old is about ten seconds. This perfect book for holding the attention of very young listeners with its colorful Illustrations and melodic verbage. You will be reading this story over and over again. You can look forward to hours of shared reading pleasure between you and your little one.
I requested access to this title through netgalley and was provided a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. A Pebble Story is a simple board book for toddlers. The Illustrations are bright and cheerful. The book does a nice job with word repetition while also limiting the words per page to keep the very young from loosing interest. The book has a message about problem solving, but it is mostly about the child and his mother and all of the places they look for pebbles to complete his picture. Nicely done in my opinion.
This is a cute little story is about a little boy who creates fun with pebbles. He makes colorful art work and skips rocks with his Mommy. This book will open children's eyes and imagination showing them how to find joy from something so simple that can be found right outside their front door--- in nature.
My boys and I loved the illustrations in this book. They are vibrant, imaginative, and have fun details to find. Following a boy and his mother through a day of finding pebbles in several places made for relaxing reading this evening with my sons.
Another new story by Emil Sher, I didn't like this one as much as A Button Story but it was still fun to read. I think that this would be a great story to read and then do a craft project with pebbles. Easy concepts for the kids to understand.
Oh the things you can do with a bunch of pebbles! Whether you are outside or inside you can lay them out in any design. If you want, you can even paint pebbles to give greater variety than nature provides. This simple and colorful little picture books shows the reader just that.
