Charlie

I thought I had it all. The husband. The house. The job.

But then, some photos proved it was all a lie.

So, I made a change.

Packed up, moved, bought a flower shop, ready to give myself a fresh start.

When I imagined my new life, I never planned for him.

Owen.

But I also never planned for my previous life to catch up with me either.

The question is, can Owen get to me before everything goes up in flames?

Owen

It started like any other job. Protect the girl.

But then I notice the girl’s friend and I can’t look away.

Charlie.

Strong, confident, sexy. She’s perfect and I’m obsessed.

Despite her telling me she wants nothing more than ‘friends with benefits’, I know this one is for keeps.

My angel.

The problem is, life fires a shot and it sends me into a PTSD spiral.

I can see only one way out: to run.

But if I go, will she ever forgive me, and while I’m gone, will she survive the danger that’s determined to hunt her down?

This is an emotional journey with steamy chemistry, recovering after heartbreak, overcoming trauma, and lots of intrigue, action and suspense.
Owen and Charlie's relationship is a whirlwind rollercoaster, they have an instant spark and lots of passion, but Owen is conflicted as his PTSD resurfaces and his doubts creep in about his ability to protect his loved ones, and Charlie fears for a new relationship after her ex husband broke her trust.
When Owen disappears, Charlie is left to once again power through, she is determined, resilient and brave.
She has her friends, Owen's bodyguard crew are keeping an eye on her, not that she needs protection, and she has a mysterious legal case her friend needs help with to keep her busy, even if it involves dangerous people.
It's a heartfelt romance, with caring characters, protective family themes, and second chances, alongside unexpected danger and threats.

✨ "I know everything about you, Charlie. Andrew was stupid to treat you the way he did or let you go, but thank him from me because you'll be screaming my name for the rest of your life"

✨ "I know I have no right to go over there and remove his hand, break his fingers, and throw him out, yet that's all I want to do"

✨ "I've been away from you and I've hated every fucking second. You've consumed my thoughts"

✨ No matter what happens between us, you are it for me"

✨ "I know you're trying to protect me, but you need to understand that I don't need your help. I need to trust that you will be there for me"

✨ "I will reign down all hell-fire, to whoever has laid a finger on what's mine, they will pay for this Angel"

✨"I have always been and I will always be yours, mind, body and soul"

ARC Review

I just finished *No Matter What* and had to give it a solid 5-star rating! From the very first page, I knew this book would be something special and it did not disappoint.

The characters are beautifully crafted, especially Charlie and Owen. Their connection is palpable, and Owen’s opening line to Charlie left me speechless for a solid ten minutes! The themes of friendship and family resonate deeply, making it incredibly relatable. As someone with family members in the military, I felt the weight of missing loved ones and the fears surrounding their safety.

The writing flows effortlessly, allowing me to visualize every scene as if I were right there with them. If I could experience this story all over again for the first time, I absolutely would! I’m also eager to dive into Millie and Jack's story to uncover more about the past.

If you’re looking for a heartfelt romance filled with relatable struggles and unforgettable characters, *No Matter What* is a must-read!

This book starts off with the instant attraction between Charlie and Owen and a whirlwind romance between the two. He’s a private body guard and she is a flower shop owner. Charlie’s had a painful romantic past and insists she only wants a “friends with benefits” arrangement but she and Owen mutually fall for one and other. When Owen abruptly runs away, will they find their way back to each other for a happily ever after?

I really enjoyed the found family aspect of this book. Owen and Charlie had so much chemistry right from the start that when they were separated, I was rooting for them to find each other once again!

If you like an open door, insta love, action packed spicy romance, you’ll enjoy Charlie and Owen’s story for sure!

Thank you to Bekki Vowles and Love Notes PR for a copy of this ARC!

ARC REVIEW.

This book was phenomenal from beginning to end. The storyline was absolutely amazing, the character descriptions- I was literally trying to picture the cast when this books makes it to movie production.

Charlie is this badass chick that doesn’t take crap from anyone and when she finds out some shady stuff about her husband she leaves and divorces him. She finds herself in a different city with her best friend— and her security detail. Owen is one of those hunky bodyguards and he’s already obsessed with her. Owen- the things I would do to Owen if he was a real human….. are not for child eyes. 😂😂😂😂

This book was hot hot HOT. The spice was spicing. The mystery was there. The plot was there.

I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! This book had everything, suspense, romance and found family. It was perfect, I didn’t want it to end ❤️‍🔥

Our two main characters Charlie and Owen went through some sh*t to get their happy ending but it was beautiful. I also loved all the side characters, each one had such a meaningful part in the story and I wanted to be friends with all of them.

I loved reading this book.

I was hooked throughout wanting to know what was going to happen.

I love the characters in the series, they are so protective of one another.

I’ve been guessing who the main characters are in the next book in the series. Can’t wait to read it when it comes out in April.

Emotional, Steamy, and Suspenseful – A Must-Read Romance!

⭐️ **Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Stars**

Okay, so No Matter What had me hooked from the very first chapter. It starts with Charlie finding out her husband, Andy, has been cheating on her—like, not just once, but with multiple women—and she decides to leave him and move to a small British town to be closer to her bestie, Millie. The way Bekki wrote that scene? It absolutely wrecked me. Charlie’s emotions—her anger, pain, embarrassment, and disgust—were so raw and relatable that it felt like Bekki had reached into my soul and put my own thoughts and feelings on the page. I actually had to pause reading just to message her on Instagram about it.

Now, if you’ve read I Dreamt of You (book 1 in this series), you’ll already know Charlie and Owen. I adored Millie and Jack’s story in the first book, so I was really excited to see Charlie and Owen’s connection unfold in this one. Their chemistry is off the charts. Owen’s intense and, most times, rough way of handling Charlie in their romantic moments is both hot and endearing because his emotions and attraction to her are so real, so raw. It takes someone as tough as Charlie to not only receive but also reciprocate that kind of energy, and their steamy scenes together are just as intense as they are hot. Bekki nailed it here—she brought out so much depth and passion in their connection that it kept me glued to the page.

Owen’s protective nature is one of his most endearing qualities, but when his PTSD kicked in, he freaked out and disappeared. I get that he needed space to work on himself, but there was one chapter where his thoughts of being a failure seemed to be on repeat for a bit too long for me. That said, I was cheering him on and found myself proud of a fictional character for seeking help when the stigma around mental health can make it so tough. Watching him lean on his team and work through his struggles was really rewarding.

Speaking of his team, I absolutely loved how Charlie bonded with them while Owen was gone. They became like brothers to her, and their protectiveness over her was so sweet. Leon, in particular, was my favorite. He’s got this charm and depth that made me wonder, for just a moment, if there could be an attraction between him and Charlie. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t meant to be, and his role as a loyal friend was perfect. He added a dynamic to the group that made their interactions feel more grounded and real.

But nothing could fill the void that Owen left behind, and I was seriously rooting for him to get his act together and come back to her. When Owen finally decided it was time to return after their last mission, his actions didn’t quite match the urgency of his thoughts. His internal dialogue made it clear that he couldn’t wait to get back to Charlie and prove he was worthy of her, yet instead of reaching out to her or even discussing his plans with his team at home, he stayed on R&R with his crew. It all felt a little too leisurely for someone who had been gone a year and was so in love he believed she was his soulmate. I get that the R&R in Greece was necessary for Charlie to see him there, but I just wish there had been a stronger sense of urgency in his planning to come back to her. If he truly felt that deeply for her, I’d have expected him to prioritize reconnecting with her over spending more time hanging out with his team.

That said, their reunion still left me smiling, and the sparring scene at the end? Absolute perfection. Not only did it tie their story together beautifully, but the plan Owen had put in place for him and Charlie was the cherry on top. Seeing him finally realize how strong and capable Charlie is, while also showing her how much he was willing to fight for their future, made the entire journey so worth it.

Bekki’s writing style has truly become one of my favorites. She strikes the perfect balance between intense, emotional romance and just the right amount of suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. I cannot wait for the next book in The Protected Series! And honestly, I hope I get to meet Bekki one day—I’d love to sit down and enjoy a gin and tonic with her! Cheers to another amazing story!

When you pick up a book and just can’t stop reading, you know you’re in for something special - and Bekki Vowles No Matter What is exactly that. This second installment in The Protected Series doesn’t just meet expectations; it obliterates them with its thrilling twists, deep emotional moments, and a romance that’s as slow-burn as it is heart-racing.

Let’s talk about Charlie. She’s everything you’d want in a protagonist - strong, resilient, and fiercely independent, yet still vulnerable in a way that makes her utterly relatable. Watching her rebuild her life, take on new challenges, and navigate the dangerous world around her is both inspiring and captivating. Her grit is undeniable, but it’s her heart that truly shines.

And Owen? Let’s just say protective and brooding has never looked so good 🥵 He’s not just obsessed with Charlie; he’s obsessed with protecting her, loving her, and proving that she deserves nothing less than everything. While he’s got his own struggles to face, his unwavering devotion and the lengths he goes to for Charlie will have you swooning from start to finish.

The romance between Charlie and Owen isn’t the only highlight. The action and suspense are next-level, with jaw-dropping plot twists that will have you flipping pages at lightning speed. The stakes feel real - whether it’s danger from a crime organization or the emotional weight of their pasts, every moment keeps you hooked.

This book doesn’t just bring romance and action; it brings heart 💖 The sense of found family, the struggles of rebuilding after loss, and the journey of two people learning to trust again hit home in a way that’s rare. And while this is book two, it stands strong on its own, so even newcomers can dive right in without feeling lost.

If you’re into badass heroines, fiercely loyal heroes, and stories packed with emotion and suspense, No Matter What is your next must read. Just be ready... you won’t want to put it down! ✨

Thank you, Bekki Vowles and Love Notes PR, for the ARC.

🌸✨ No Matter What by Bekki Vowles ✨🌸

Okay, do you ever read a book and just… can’t put it down? Because this was that book for me! 🤯

Meet Charlie – she thought she had it all: the perfect husband, a beautiful house, and the dream job… until boom, everything crumbles with one shocking reveal. 💔 So, what does she do? She rebels and buys a flower shop, ready to restart her life. 🌸 Sounds like the perfect fresh start, right? But life has other plans.

Enter Owen, the mysterious guy who’s supposed to be just her protector but hellooo, he’s also her biggest temptation. 😏 The tension? OFF THE CHARTS. 🔥 The chemistry? Explosive. But Charlie’s made it clear: she’s only in it for the “friends with benefits” vibe. So you KNOW that’s not going to go as planned.

But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Owen’s got his own baggage – PTSD, dark past, and a decision that could wreck everything. Will he be able to pull himself together before Charlie’s life gets torn apart?

This book is a wild ride, full of twists and turns, emotional baggage, a slow-burn romance, and enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. There’s danger lurking, but what I loved was how this book showed us that no matter how hard life gets, sometimes you have to fight for what you want – no matter what. 🌟

The characters? Charlie is strong, fierce, and relatable. I loved her journey of finding herself again. And Owen? Gimme all the protective, brooding vibes. 😍 I swear, I was rooting for these two to find their happily ever after.

If you love:

Romantic suspense
Hurt/comfort vibes
Enemies to lovers/slow burn
Characters with deep emotional layers
Then trust me, you NEED this book on your TBR. 📚

🎥💖 Add this to your list now, and thank me later!

✨️" I know everything about you, Charlie. Andrew was stupid to treat you the way he did or let you go, but thank him from me because you'll be screaming my name for the rest of your life."✨️

Charlie is freshly divorced and starting over when she meets Owen, who is working for her best friend as security. They fall hard and fast, but Owens past catches up to him, and it threatens the future. Will they be able to face the challenges that come their way? No matter what.

Let's just say this started out with a bang 💥. The chemistry between Owen and Charlie is instant! The pull they have towards one another is undeniable. I enjoyed every moment of Owen and Charlie. I admire Charlie's grit and determination, her strength to persevere. She is one badass fmc. I also really enjoyed her relationships with the guys and the bond that they all formed. It lessened the heartache you felt for her and Owen.

Owen struggles with ptsd and the way he navigates it and tries to handle it on his own makes you proud of him for trying to better himself . While also wanting to yell at him for being silly in choosing to do it alone.

✨️" I've been away from you and I've hated every fucking second. You've consumed my thoughts. " ✨️

I enjoyed this and would recommend it if you like romance with a side of suspense and spice. I will say that I did not expect the twist.

I must open by saying, I have not yet read "I dreamt of you" which is the first book of the series, however having completed "No Matter What", it's not necessary. While the characters were connected, I was able to follow the story completely as a separate entity all of its own, and now having read it, I WILL BE back-tracking to make a purchase of I Dreamt Of You at the earliest opportunity.

I loved how fast and hot the attraction between Charlie and Owen began, and I'm trying not to spoil anything too much here which is really HARD! No pun intended, but they got their freak on like twice before chapter four and they had only met twice. And Bekki was VERY descriptive. Me likey ❤️

The progression of the story flowed easily within my mind which considering I have a very unhelpful ADHD brain which likes wondering off on tangents all of its own, was an achievement for Bekki to have kept my attention as wrapt as it was, and even had me finishing the book in just 2 days, even while looking after the sprogletts.

I laughed SO HARD at so many of her lines that I almost woke my kids at 2am cackling from the other room. Her sarcasm was so dry and punchy I felt like we were sharing the same brain.

I look forward to the next installment, and learning under you as a mentee, with a slice of chocolate cake, and my trusty notepad and blue pen.

I have to admit I'm drawn to Leon, and very much hope this hunky lumberjack of a man will be the focus of the third book. Not gunna lie,... I'm kinda hoping he's going to be a big gay softie

Genre: Suspenseful Romance
Rating: ⭐️⭐️.5
Heat: 🌶️🌶️
POV: Dual
Burn: Medium

Tropes: Small Town Romance, Ex- Army MMC, Badass MFC, Fated, Protective, He Falls First, Romantic Suspense. *check trigger warnings*

This is the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone.

Owen Stone is a bodyguard who runs a security company. He’s not prepared to meet the woman of his dreams while working one day, but soon realizes he’s falling fast and hard. However, he keeps a secret: he suffers from severe PTSD.

Charlotte Hudson, aka Charlie, is starting her life over with a new flower shop business, but she’s struggling to open herself up to love after getting burned by past relationships.

Owen and Charlie share an instant, smoking-hot connection, but the universe has other plans for them. Their journey is filled with wild ups and downs as they navigate their emotions and challenges.

I’m usually a fan of insta-love, the “he falls first,” and the “protective” tropes, but this book wasn’t quite a favorite for me. It has a medium pace and some decent spice—something I usually enjoy right away—but I just couldn’t connect with Owen and Charlie’s insta-love dynamic. The pining over each other felt drawn out, and I found myself getting bored with it. Overall, I had a hard time connecting with Charlie’s character.

While this book didn’t hit the mark for me, I’d still be open to checking out other titles by this author to see if something else captures my interest.

ARC REVIEW

Owen, a ex military man who owns his own security business, a man who has ptsd and fall fast and hard at love at first sight with Charlie.

Charlie, a strong ass FMC, who owns her very own floral shop, she was unfortunately treated like shit with her ex husband and now has hard times trusting ppl ( unless it’s owen)

These two characters are so meant to be. The min they saw each other they fell in love. This book is insta love which unfortunately isn’t one of my fav tropes but it didn’t bother me that much.

These two characters go through so much, with starting out together, drifting apart, and then found their way back to each other. This book has so much plot and such story. And the beginning is very 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Overall I would give this story a 3.5 and spice wise a 2.75! This is also book two in the series but you don’t have to read book one! After this I most definitely plan on reading book 1!

Thank you to the author Bekki Vowles and Love notes PR for giving me a chance with this book! I can’t wait to read more of her books!

✨ No Matter What is book 2 in The Protected series

When book 1 is so amazing that it gives you high expectations for book 2… and book 2 EXCEEDS ALL EXPECTATIONS! 🌟

I love a strong, badass FMC and a possessive, protective MMC 😍

“I will reign down hell-fire to anyone that has laid a finger on what’s mine, my angel. They will pay for this.”

Charlie’s story is equally heartbreaking and inspiring. She is the kind of woman I want to be.

Owen is every woman’s dream man. The way he cares so deeply for those closest to him, the almost unhinged steps he is willing to take to protect his girl, the softness with which he cares for her when they’re alone ♥️

And the romance is only one side of this book. The twists and turns in this story had my heart pounding and begging to know what happens next. I couldn’t put it down, but I also never wanted it to end.

I absolutely cannot wait to know what happens next! I have no doubt it will be another 5 star read 💫

This is my first book by Bekki Vowles, and let me just tell you, y'all are missing out. No Matter What is a book centered around Owen and Charlie. Both find each other after having some very real and very big life traumas. They have an instant connection and from there, the book takes you on an adventure of love, trust, heartbreak, self-perseverance, and a really great core found family. Owen and Charlie have everyone cheering for them, but I loved how the author showed that it was important for both of these characters to learn to love themselves again. They both needed to trust themselves again, and I loved how the story flowed through the book. Getting to know these characters and their friends was something I really enjoyed. I also loved the suspense of the book too!

All in all, this book is definitely a great book with adventure, love, and found family.

ARC REVIEW

What a great story filled with plot twists and absolutely great MCs. The story starts with such an impact that I had to reread it. Charlie is a strong FMC with that "I can do it myself" attitude. We meet Owen who is mysterious and absolutely obsessed with Charlie. The story takes a meet cute plot with lots of good spice until the devastation and Charlie kicks it into high gear trying to bring down a crime organization. Meanwhile, Owen is battling his own battles while trying to get back to Charlie. The story takes a twist and turn for the main characters that ultimately ends in a happy ending. The book was such a rollercoaster. You definitely start reading it thinking it's about another obsessed MMC then BOOM plot twist filled with so many emotions and ACTION. If you love a strong, badass FMC and an obsessed MMC who can't say no to her...PLEASE READ THIS BOOK.

This book pulled me in from the first page! As it's the second book to the Protected series, it was nice to get a look at what the characters from the first book have been up to! For No Matter What, Charlie’s strength and determination to rebuild her life after heartbreak were so inspiring, and Owen’s protective, yet vulnerable nature made their connection impossible to resist. The suspense kept me hooked and the plot twists in the second half had me glued to the story. The timeline shocked me, but in the end, it was a very well planned storyline!

If you are looking for a heartfelt very relatable romance this book is for you! The way this book was written was very real and detailed so much so that i found myself crying many times because of how i could picture it exactly and live the events with the characters! The story was beautiful, i loved that the aspect of family and friends was so involved in the story because i’m the same way in real life and could appreciate it more.

A quick read, there is some trauma of course but i loved how the FMC was so strong and used her support from people who love her to get through it, very inspiring! The drama was enough to keep me entertained but not too much that it overpowered the romance.

This book is out now so go grab your copy!

This book was an experience. The begging will capture you. Loved that it starts with the experience of thinking that you have it all, a great job a great house and a great marriage. But what happens when he cheat on you with diversity of woman’s? When you leave everything and start a new beginning. This “security” romance is amazing. The mysterious guy is truly the best. Now their first meeting is the best with him saying that the only name she is gonna scream for the rest of her life is his name.

This book is going for a ride.

Owen and Charlie have a rollercoaster of a romance with tons of emotional baggage/ptsd, suspense, slow burn, enemies to lovers, danger lurking. I couldn’t put this book down! And man what a rollercoaster ride it was? Even with them both deal with their own baggage shows that they fight through it no matter what I love Charlie’s strength she is so strong! Fierce and relatable. She goes through this journey finding herself and Owen.. 🔥 he has a brooding protectiveness and is completely obsessed with Charlie and making sure she is safe, working in security he even asks his ex Military friends to help keep an eye on her.. that’s all I’m going to say read this book you will not regret it!

This was my first time reading a Bekki Vowles book and I liked it. The writing was well done and the pace is kind of fast. Charlie and Owen in instant love relationship. One thing that I loved about the story was the mental health and looking at how it effected the characters. The spice of the story was well done. I didn't feel like it was over the top. There are triggers in this book so I would look at them before starting. No Matter What is the second book in the series and to me is a stand alone. I didn't feel like I had to read the first book to understand this book. Overall, the story of Charlie and Owen was good and I will probably check out Bekki Vowles other books.

This is absolutely stunning, I adored the heck out of this one. Within the first few pages I was hooked and I knew I was going to love it.

We have two incredible main characters. Owen, good lord. He is pure book boyfriend material. And Charlie? Charlie is one bad ass fmc.

It gets quite spicy fairly quickly and the spice is pure deliciousness.

The dynamic between these two is simply gorgeous. I didn't expect this book to go the way I did. I was pleasantly surprised by all the twists and turns.

Shout out to Bekki for writing this master piece and for the ARC. Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it!

I cannot give this book more than 3 stars. This book took me so long to get through because it was ALL over the place. I could not keep up with the story because it was missing so many pieces, so many explanations and that isn’t even talking about the characters leading the story. How did out of know here she become this badass that could whoop anyone's ass? Why did the ending happen the way it did? It was so rushed after all that time spent in the beginning and middle with little explanation. I got frustrated several times about it and had to stop. I finished it, sex was good and spicy, but story and characters. Frustrating.

ARC REVIEW

Reading this was for sure an emotional journey, made me cry, made me smile, made me mad. I absolutely loved how the characters were written and seeing them develop throughout the story was for sure a heartwarming experience.

I've never had the experience of having a family member being in the military, but even so, without having experienced such thing I feared for the characters and found myself constantly rooting for their happiness.

Absolutely loved how the author took two broken pieces and mended them together, because a lot of times thats truly what love is, someone helping you to mend all your broken pieces, and its truly beautiful!

I absolutely LOVE a strong woman character that doesn’t need anyone to look out for her. That’s exactly who Charlie is. Bring in Owen, an ex-military man who suffers from PTSD, is extremely protective and OH! has green eyes.
I loved that this book wasn’t just straight romance the entire time. It was full of action! Charlie and Owen gave me Dom and Letty vibes from Fast and the Furious.
This is Book 2 in Bekki’s Protected Series, but can be read as a stand alone. I now have to go read Book 1! Four days until this book drops!
