The book is about learning to ride mostly for folks at or after middle age .Anyone learning to ride could benefit from it as well. It was inspired by my own experiences. Although I was on a bike a few times when I was 17, it was like starting all over again when I took it up again at 56. I knew absolutely nothing about bikes or how to ride, and didn't know who to ask or what to ask them. I learned a lot during my adventure and, looking back, there were lots of things I wish I had asked, or known to ask. The book is about those things.
I won't launch into an outline. I will say that it includes information in every major category of riding. I tell folks what I wish I had known about picking a bike, buying gear, starting to ride, and finding friends to ride with. I even include a bit about why people like to ride and the psychological changes I experienced as I learned. I've also sprinkled little lessons on biker lingo and socialization throughout the narrative.
The book is 157 pages long as it now stands. I've asked a few folks to serve as beta readers. Their comments have included things like, "This should be required reading for anyone who starts to ride." and "I've been riding for 40 years and I loved it." I'm hoping you will love it, too.
I really wanted to like this book. I am 50 and just started riding again after a very long break. The author has a lot of really good points, but just takes a LONG time getting to them. I feel like the book could have been 1/2 the size and I still would have gotten all the information.
