good summary of Steinbeck's life and works. I set this aside for awhile while I finished the whole collection of his works as it made a lot more sense to have read them. I will put on my list the collections of his letters, especially the ones he wrote during East of Eden. It is interesting to me that his works were panned by critics, although very popular. His writing is so much better than current books which are popular but panned by critics. sigh.

A remarkable look at one of America’s greatest writers, highlighting his ability to bring the struggles of the downtrodden into the public eye. It’s fascinating to learn more about Steinbeck beyond his works, and despite his flaws, his writing reflects a deep understanding of human resilience and dignity.
