Beginning school is a major milestone for parents and children. As parents, we want to do all that we can to prepare our kids so they can have the best possible start. Many of us will teach our kids the alphabet and how to count to 20 to get our children ready for school. But what if we are missing something more important than teaching our kids academic skills? What if there were a set of skills we should be focusing on before we teach ABCs and 1,2,3’s? What if I told you that as an Early Childhood educator with twenty-six years of experience, there are skills that are more critical for your child to learn before they begin school? This is why I wrote this book. To spread awareness of how important executive function skills are and how parents and educators can teach these skills explicitly to give kids the best opportunity to get the most out of their school day and their lives!
